When do we get a Dressing Room implementation?

Any chance gear or skill switching functionality will be added to the base game?
This would really be a huge improvement to my gameplay experience on the xbox. With a game focused so much on different sets and skills im a bit surprised this is missing.

Yes please. The ability to toggle gear and skill set ups would be great. Having to constantly switch your characters gear and skill and sets Between pve and pvp is time consuming and it would make a great quality of life improvement

Man, I want it so much.

At least some way to properly organise your inventory with your sets instead of having shoes together and jacks together etc.

Don't see why not, they could make it an ESO+ feature, give people another reason to subscribe.

Before people start screaming its should be free/base game etc... they won't even consider adding it unless they can make money from it in some form or another.

Problem is, a dressing room has competitive gameplay value for speed runs / scores, especially on console. If you can shave 10-30 seconds off of each transition between trash sets and boss sets, it makes a difference. That starts getting into p2w territory.

Not that they haven't already skirted that territory a ton with the crown store, but this would be pretty clearly over the line for a lot of people.

    Edit: removed redundant redundancy.

Absolutely agree. It is essential for healers and tanks, and is useful for everyone else. Also, I wish they added minimap. The best course would be, if ZOS took data, on what addons are most popular, and added their own versions of them, in QOL update.

I think you are forgetting all of the updates that ZOS has released to the base game for free in the time since the crown store business model was instituted. Some of these involved developing entire new game systems, not just UI changes:
    • Armor dying
    • Barber shop
    • Daily rewards
    • Housing / furniture crafting
    • House storage containers
    • Master writs
    • Buff/debuff tracker
    • Guild trader search screen revamp
    • Multi crafting
    • Guild trader multi-bidding (debatable whether this was an improvement)
    • Combat logging (not useful on console)
    • Outfit/style-pages system
    • Limited visitor permissions for housing, to avoid people turning off your lights
    • Character reordering
    • Housing editor improvements, including furniture grouping, undo, and with Greymoor, grid alignment tools

I'm sure I'm missing some other things as well. And that's not even to mention the fact that Battlegrounds and Imperial City are both free now as well, despite the fact that they were buy to play at first.

Many of the above have been monetized in some way, but the core functionality is still free. And some haven't been monetized at all.

    Hopefully never!

I mean, the lengths some people will argue to, just to keep from having to make friggin -choices-!

Having to think twice about which gear/skill setup to choose is one of the strong points of the game!
Having to make choices instead of having your cake and eating it too is fun!
Having to think hard about if you want to specialize in one thing at the expense of another, or go with a mixed setup that is adequate for both but not perfect is a good thing!
I wouldn't want to see all choice removed by the option to instantly switch from one "super-effective" setup for the other...

Do you even know what dressing room is?

People have thought out their different setups already. It just takes unnecessary time to manually switch gear all the time. In both cases you have to plan and configure and carry it along. ;)

@silvereyes Where do they have barber shops? :o

It's called style parlor or basically just the appearance tab in your collections. That whole area with hair styles, accessories, adornments, face markings and body markings didn't used to exist. It's monetized all over the place, but stuff like body markings and face markings are now part of quest rewards in the base game.

As for hair specifically, while it is technically monetized, the main hair styles pack can be had for a minimal outlay of 1000 crowns, and it unlocks account-wide forever. Since new accounts come with 500 crowns alone, they are halfway there already. It's not technically free, but it's close enough to free that I basically forgot the expense.

I don't remember exactly, but I think the whole costume system (predecessor to outfits) was introduced around the same time. I forget the exact patch. Like, the whole ability to wear hats and costumes didn't used to exist either, and they are also part of base game rewards now as well.

See above for barber shop explanation. It’s synonymous with style parlor and was added in update 11.

Buff / debuff tracking was added for update 14 / morrowind. It didn’t exist before that, outside of addons.

Thanks for the bump. Got informed by mail.

I stopped playing because this feature is missing. It may not be essential to a lot of players. But with my casual schedule its hard to combine different endgame activities. A manual gear switch is just to time consuming and boring.

I suspect they already do this to some LIMITED extent - hopefully ZOS are looking at addon usage (aka Minion) to determine which QOL improvements to prioritise e.g. BeamMeUp …and thinking… “maybe we should just add that to the game or revisit how people fast travel.” I live in a fantasy world I know… Tom Cruise is my dad and goblins are real.

The costume system was always there, as least as long as it's been on console anyway. What was new was the ability to dye them, which made them much more useful

The OP specifically said they were on Xbox, which doesn't have addons.

I'm hugely in favor of this, by the way, as long as it's just gear and equipped skill swapping. Other threads have asked for full morph, attribute, and CP respecs, which I'm against.

This would be great. True it only takes a minute to swap back and forth but if it could be a drop down like the outfits that would be great.

Problem is that dressing room actually already exists, only as an Addon (or two, actually). But this doesn't do consolers any good. Also, it is preferable with ZOS doing a general application within the game that helps all.

They will NEVER do this. It would allow build versatility built into the game. Look at the last half dozen patches, ZOS is only about shoehorning you into a specific role these days using specific sets. I am just glad that they haven't disabled Dressing Rooom yet and so allow those that look for ways to increase character utility a way to get there(even if its not a great way)

Ah that's right. I was getting my updates mixed up. It was costume dying that was added at the same time as style parlor.

For reference, the costume system was introduced to the game at the same time as the Collections system and Crown Store in Update 6, Tamriel Unlimited, which preceded the first console release by a few months.

They need a loadout system where you can hotkey your setup (gear, skills) then equip it like you can with costumes...would be very easy to do. I think 3 loadouts per character would be fair and allow us to switch roles on the fly when someone is playing poorly in a dungeon/trial
