DDoS attacks can be mitigated within 10 minutes. Just look at someone like RedSpam.

This basically drills down to the fact that the Gaming Community will put up with launches and games that have issues, and the reason they do? There’s only one Company that does Game X.
They know they have a captive audience, people very rarely vote with their feet online.

If this was the "real world" so to speak issues like this and the ones we have seen since launch would be grounds for terminating a contract.

People should familiarise themselves with the ITIL Definitions of Warranty and Utility.....To me as an SDM there is a lack of both here at the moment.

Nothing new there though. As far as i saw in the past , not a single MMO followed ITIL/SDLC guidelines. Customers are handled differently in MMO than other online services. They don't mind loosing customers. The company i work if i make an error which causes possible customer loss , also means my resignation for grave professional error , which for me means i don't get any unemployment money.

I took Blizzard two months to get World of Warcraft running stable / playable. I guess this means you can cancel your sub now because I can promise you, 1 month is not enough to get all these problems solved - imagining otherwise is wishful thinking on your part.

I used to be a fanboy like you, but then I took almost no feedback from Zenimax Online.

Hey all UK player on EU server here.

Just tried to log in and get a server maintainance message.

Have not been ay home most of day so not tried logging in till now.

23 pages is a lot to go through but I have read some and scanned others. I did not see an estimate from devs for this downtime and there is no message on launcher (this is something that could have / should have been done).

So, at the risk of being turned on; have we an estimated down time?

Anywho, I have a room that is begging to be tidied. So! I guess I have something to do for an at least. :)

Basically, login server(s) crashed, following a period of lag (from what's being said, I was not in-game at that time). EU megaserver got taken down after about an hour until the matter has been resolved (some speculate about a hacker/DDoS attack).

Well 7.25pm on a Saturday. Doesn't get more prime time than that. Assuming it's to do with the problems logging in today. Might have to inquire about some more game time as recompense if this carries on.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

What are the moderation team doing between the long periods that people are looking for updates and no updates are forthcoming.

The lay out of these forums is very bad, one of the most difficult to navigate and the level of communication appears to be up there. The servers are down, people are not happy about it. You know there will be more people on the forums than normal because of that yet there is very very little communication.

Alright you don't have any answers about when the serves are going back up, you don't yet know why they are down and you haven't a clue how long till they go back up. Say it and then answer some questions you can answer. Anything from codes for vanity pets that no one use cause they can't be bothered to fish them out of their inventory, to lore posts to to god damn riddles. Anything to keep the communication going. There must be tons of ask us anything questions and answers that didn't make it into the main site, throw some of those out.

@arrisiane Exactly and because of this we have the issues we continually see with MMO's.
I know what you mean I also work for a Managed Services Provider, when theres an interruption to a Customers Service theres a large cost involved to the provider, be it Service Credits, Reputation or loss of Business, and as you say someone will take the bullet for it.

The login server has gone down (I don't know why) so strictly speaking it's not maintenance; there's no ETA for the server to be online. What with all the bugs and server downtime a lot of people are getting serious fed up with ESO; IMHO things are starting to descend into farce.

Check out the Sever Status Forum for updates, but I wouldn't expect things to be sorted anytime soon.

You obviously played a very different WoW to the one i played. It was no where near as bad as ESO has been so far.

As much as I like the game itself, I'm really beginning to lose my patience. Leaving all the countless issues like bank bugs, item duping(!), etc aside, it's just frustrating to pay a company your money while they won't provide you with what you paid for.

What bothers me the most is the lack of communication from Zenimax' side...

Just another random rant from a very disappointed and, most likely, soon-to-be ex customer.
