    You have absolutely right.

But! In case of payed infrastructure service you must have enough redundancy, disaster recovery solution, etc. At least restart servers, bring them up ASAP, and then investigate logs and things. Repair and server down on next scheduled maintenance or in emergency maintenance at less peak hours.

    ...sorry for my bad English.

So true :) but the cost for this in a MMO environment is to high to actually setup. Now on the other hand NA and EU servers should be a copy of each other code wise , except language specific things , which wouldn't cause these kind of issues anyways , so why don't we have the same issues as NA , and they not the same as we have? Poor management?

I don't think it's too expensive. That's why we pay them 15$ a month while real expenses per player (iirc based on 300-400k player population) are 2-3$. Let someone correct my numbers if I'm wrong. There is a plenty of resources to ensure decent level of service.

Regarding management, it seems like that.

    ...sorry for my bad English.

Bandwidth is a big cost still for companies. I have 100 Mbit down and only 5Mbit upstream for almost nothing. A 2Mbit up and 2 Mbit down for companies cost 5-10 times as much as i pay. Trust me i cant see why either , seeing i have less issues with my home line then we have at our company with the lines of our stores , which should be better seeing bigger price paid.

Isn't that why there are EU specific servers?

That reminds me, when are they moving the euro server to a place that is actually in Europe? Not moaning just wondering.

    Only two possibilities here :

    - Issues of late cause them to do this asap.
    - They wait till EU customer base drops to the number they have set to not implement EU based servers.

I hope they do it SOON™
    Latency is awful!
Fast is fine, but accurate is final.

5 o'clock isn't prime time. Prime time is when the server is MOST populated. A specific clock time has nothing to do with it.

At least, we are not shutting down EU-server in the EU prime-time (especially at Saturday evening) for a several hours!

A sudden crash, or hacker attack, could just as well happen to a EU-based server. It is not like you have much of a choice but to turn servers off when something like that happens.

What really happens during server maintenance in MMORPGs:
    http://youtu.be/W2JB6oRdnE4
    @Aerieth - PC EU Megaserver
Ilatria Shadowcore - Lv 50 Nord Vampire Nightblade - Tank / Stam DPS - Daggerfall Covenant
Maiine Shadowcore - Lv 50 Breton Vampire Nightblade - Magicka DPS - Daggerfall Covenant
Aerieth Shadowcore - Lv 50 Imperial Vampire Nightblade - Healer - Daggerfall Covenant
    From patch notes long forgotten:
"Fixed an issue if you had a summoned pet, it could potentially be grabbed by an invisible Molag-Bal and get stuck in a floating posture."
"Dogs can no longer teleport while chasing cats (much to the disappointment of the dogs)."

same here , this game is clearly not ready for launch, much as I enjoy it (when it works) my sub will not be renewed if they don't get their act together by months end.

I took Blizzard two months to get World of Warcraft running stable / playable. I guess this means you can cancel your sub now because I can promise you, 1 month is not enough to get all these problems solved - imagining otherwise is wishful thinking on your part.

Seriously people... Is it that hard? The login servers crashed (possibly DDoS'ing?) - that isn't exactly something they can give 15 minutes notice of...
DDoS attacks can be mitigated within 10 minutes. Just look at someone like RedSpam.

This basically drills down to the fact that the Gaming Community will put up with launches and games that have issues, and the reason they do? There’s only one Company that does Game X.
They know they have a captive audience, people very rarely vote with their feet online.

If this was the "real world" so to speak issues like this and the ones we have seen since launch would be grounds for terminating a contract.

People should familiarise themselves with the ITIL Definitions of Warranty and Utility.....To me as an SDM there is a lack of both here at the moment.

While we don't have an exact ETA for the server coming back online, it does appear that it will be at least a couple hours. We'll update in this thread when we have more news to share. Thanks for your patience!

That's true. I know prices since I'm in IT and work for company with big public service provisioning. I can't imagine two-three hours of downtime in my company. And we have much less money then Bethesda/Zenimax still having heavy load of traffic and transaction regularly.

Hence, resources can't be a real problem. Bad management can.

Hey all UK player on EU server here.

Just tried to log in and get a server maintainance message.

Have not been ay home most of day so not tried logging in till now.

23 pages is a lot to go through but I have read some and scanned others. I did not see an estimate from devs for this downtime and there is no message on launcher (this is something that could have / should have been done).

So, at the risk of being turned on; have we an estimated down time?

Anywho, I have a room that is begging to be tidied. So! I guess I have something to do for an at least. :)
