Your favourite race starting vs your favourite race now

I was just thinking how much I liked the high elves starting Skyrim maybe 3-4 years ago, because I loved sparkly magic and elves and that was it really. Over time...they gradually became one of my least favourite races.
Learning about the lore/cultures and going off their homelands I think Bretons and Argonians are my favourites at the moment.
What did you start off with and what did you end up with?

I played Breton in Elder Scrolls 3, 4 and in 5 but Skyrim made me love Nords and how closely they resemble the Viking culture. Now I have replayed Skyrim as a Nord and my main in ESO is a Nord and going forward I will stick with Nord for Elder Scrolls 6.

Argonian is a very close to favorite and fall to second, their lore is cool and I like how they resemble the Aztec/Mayan culture.

I started with argonians and all my characters are argonians, they still are my favorite race (my second choice would be khajiit), but with the upcoming vampire changes i really feel like my favorite race is not so loved simply because the transformation will be mer / man like, i mean when they can completely change how feeding works, why cant they make 2 models, 1 for khajiit and 1 for argonian transformation, like bone goliath? They said Lamae Bal created this"perfected" form, they said Lamae Bal loves her "children" equally, so why did Lamae Bal just created a mer / man like transformation, i dont feel so loved from her anymore, so i changed to hybrid and werewolf to keep my tail, but i really love vampires so i sometimes catch myself looking wich lore / race could interest me that would fit for a mer / man like vampire transformation, but in the end i stay with my favorite race: argonians.

Nice thread, it is very interesting to see what everyone's favorite race is now compared to when they first started playing. :)

My first toon was a Nord and a dragonknight. I was specifically trying to remake the character that I had played in Skyrim... The toons that I played the most have been Orcs and Bretons - for pvp. My favorite character is a Bosmer.

I actually chose Imperial as my starting race. However, I soon moved onto Redguard.

However I am now playing as a Nord Dragonknight, and frankly, it feels like home. Amazing PvE tank and amazing PvP warrior. Plus very capable in solo content too.

    Also, Nords are just cool!

Breton since TES Daggerfall...still breton. ESO has some adorable bretons btw. Darien, Clarisse Laurent, Stibbons. Also house Montclair is pretty awesome and I like all the dramatic backstory. King Emeric is so depressed and tired, I feel he is like my spirit animal.
And I always play as a mage in RPGs,so...yeah.

Always orc for stamina, tried a few khajits but they ended up as bank alts. I was orc when redguard was the best pve race, i was orc when khajit had the 7% crit bonus. Now I get hate for being a meta chaser cause all of my 6 stamina classess are orcs :disappointed: Had a few dunmer when I tried magicka builds and absoloutely despised altmer, but now all my dunmers except 1 are race changed to high elves.

When I started with Oblivion my favorite was a toss up between khajiit and imperials based on first impression with no TES knowledge yet, then as I kept playing it became imperials, and its been imperials since then through Skyrim and ESO. The amount that I like the other races has changed more, mostly that from the start I wasn't big on altmer or argonians but they're two of my favorite now. Really really loved Murkmire

Still Imperial, as in previous TES games. My problem at the start of ESO though was that I didn't think the Imperial Edition was worth buying. So, I indulged my inner explorer, and tried all the other races.

Since I got the digital imperial edition the number of Imperials on my roster has grown, but slowly. I can't bring myself to get rid of my early characters. They're like old friends.

This one has only ever played elder scrolls games (every elder scrolls game to completion from arena on) to play khajiit. Back a long time ago, when this one was young and silly, long before elder scrolls were even toddler scrolls, he would LARP a white tiger biped creature. He had fur, and made himself armor of plates and chains, and big boffy foam claw weapons almost 3 ft long. Was ridiculous, absurd, and great fun. He misses being able to fit in his armor.

So yes. This one obviously favors orcs.

I started up with Dunmer, without knowing anything about them. It's like back in Skyrim( my first TES game), I considered dunmer as how nords would think. Also, in ESO the dunmer female is what I choosed and it was just by accident or you could say a test.

Later on, I started to gradually like my character and a little bit of the dark elf lore. Then I tried out TES 3. And now I am very happy. I choosed the right race, right class ( Nightblade aka morag tong) and I finally love the dunmer race.

The dunmer are....what I call a special race. They are exotic, hardworking, cold blooded and unique to their kind.

So, I started up with dunmer and I ended up with them....

I always played Nords exclusively. I was really happy when Bloodmoon expansion was released and Nord culture was great in that one. In Skyrim Nords could be a little over the top but I liked what they did to the region, although it didn't looked so much "lived in" as Morrowind and Cyrodiil. In ESO my main is a Nord but most of my alts are Dunmer. I always liked how alien and unique Dunmer culture and architecture was. It fell out of typical earth-like inspirations of other TES races. But still, I play as Nord most of the time since it's a tradition of sorts, and also you are an outsider in Dunmer lands even if you play as Dunmer. I'm really glad for Greymoor as Nords are a bit of parody of themselves so far ("Hurr durr! Kill things and drink mead!"), more than any other race in vanilla game in my honest opinion.

If talking TES in general then it started with a dunmer nightblade and a spellsword in Morrowind, later in Oblivion crisis they were imperials, dunmeri, argonians and bosmeri assassins, battlemages and thieves/hunters generally. Skyrim was a mess and too different every playthrough.
Eso was kind of going back to where it all started with dunmer nightblade as a first one and current main. Probably i spent too much time in Tamriel already.

    I started as altmer.

In 2014 I wasnt aware about "stamina" or "magicka" builds, I was playing hybrid like in TESV, so my altmer was really bad. Then I finally understood I was a stamina player because of bow, and... My beloved altmer has been abandonned. Sadly.

Now I 'm playing mostly bosmer (because I like to dodge, jump, to use bow and sneak, hunting other players in pvp, everything about bosmers in fact).

Of my original 4 characters from the beginning, none of them have changed races as they were based off of characters from Skyrim. So there is a nostalgia thing happening.

That being said I am playing my Bosmer less and less and my Breton more. I want to play my bosmer but she has the unfortunate luck of having poor race specs and being a pve nb.

    TES 3: Dunmer
    TES 4: Dunmer
    TES 5: Nord
    ESO: ... Dunmer

I gravitate towards Dunmer, unless the atmosphere of the game calls for something else. Playing Nord in Skyrim is just a no-brainer.

Overall, my favourites are Dunmer, Orc, Nord, and Breton, in about that order. Hasn't changed over time, although I got to say I liked Altmer more before ESO.

Skyrim, I think my first race was Bretton.

In ESO my first race as Bretton and my second character I rolled the same day was High Elf. My third rolled a couple of months later was Dunmer. Ofc, Bretton got nicely buffed so I still lean on that race today but the other two are still worthy and I have not done a race change since the passives were updated last year.

For Stam. Redguard has always been my favorite for the sustain but they are not as strong, comparatively speaking, as they were early in the game. IMO.

All in all, I still like my early choices.

Started with a Breton PetSorc and am still playing the same Breton PetSorc as my main 6+ years later...

Of course I also have 11 other characters that I like...visually Khajit are my favorite to look at, then Argonians.
