In Oblivion (my first TES) it was Breton, same in Skyrim, and at first same for ESO, until I finished the AD storyline and realized I really liked the Khajiit culture and lore, so it's been Khajiit ever since. I play all races from time to time in every TES game now but Khajiit will probably always be my favorite. It's hard to top the lunar lattice lore.

Khajiit will definitely be the race that I play as for my first playthrough of TES 6.

Favorite race is still imperial, i love them because of the lore, so my favorite/main character that i try to get all the story content and max out everything with is imperial still. But for general play im typically am playing my dark elf magdk. I have my best damage stats with him. Im not ome of the “elites” so my dps output is nothing crazy. The most ive ever done is 34k

Bosmer is my favorite race. The majority of my stamina characters are Bosmer. I like their culture, where they’re from, and their lore.

My favorite used to be Altmer. They don’t really come close to being my favorite after learning more about them.

    My favorite race?
    Dunmer.

    ;)

No amount of nerfings can change that, because for me, well, I pick my favorites for their lore, background fluff and general appearance... and not just "bundle of stats".
So, I love me my Dunmer stamina nightblade and Dunmer magica sorceror characters I started with, and they are still my favorites and forever will be.

And yes, even long before ESO I always made "Dark Elf" characters in my TES gaming... actually, ESO is the very first game where I also made alts of different races! Of course, back in TES-II:Daggerfall, I made them because of my love for D&D Drow, but with TES-III:Morrowind, and after learning their rich and unique history and lore... I apprechiated them in their own right!

It's hard to say, there were too many nerfs to race-class combinations and too much identity lost.
For example, Breton key feature was always magic resistance, very high and noticeablet. In ESO those 2k+2k spell resistance though nice passive, but not decisive one.
Redguards were good in melee right from the start which allowed them to go as true warriors instead of using mix of skills... in ESO redguard passives just don't make sense. How orcs who always were known for their tankiness, but nobody considered them sword masters, orcs end up top-tier melee fighters and redguars are bottom tier in ESO.
Bosmers were good with bows, and bow was amazing in single player games. In ESO bow is just meh..
Dunmers were always of sword+magicka types, but in ESO hybrids are barely viable outside of some niche PVP builds, so race doesn't make sense either.

So technically my favorite races from TES games - bretons, redguards, bosmers and dunmers, in ESO lost their identity. And while breton is BiS race now, it is absolutely not that breton which was in original games. In TES bretons were sly, cute and allowed very powerful builds. In ESO they are rather plain from lore side and have good mix up of magicka passives but nothing outstanding or unique.

    I started as altmer.

In 2014 I wasnt aware about "stamina" or "magicka" builds, I was playing hybrid like in TESV, so my altmer was really bad. Then I finally understood I was a stamina player because of bow, and... My beloved altmer has been abandonned. Sadly.

Now I 'm playing mostly bosmer (because I like to dodge, jump, to use bow and sneak, hunting other players in pvp, everything about bosmers in fact).

You can still play an altmer stam build won’t be as good as an orc but it can still be done my main a Breton stamblade and I main pvp I still get 1vxs and beat good players in 1v1s 👍

My first character in ESO was a Nord Templar. Still my main. Was a dd up until I got a target dummy. Changed to tank. This was before the racial rebalancing.

Most of my Morrowind characters were Dunmer. It just seemed to fit.

I ended playing mostly Breton in Oblivion.

As Lydia has been know to say, Skyrim is for Nords.

I love the Khajiit lore but I have difficulty playing them for any length of time.

Altmer always. I have other characters but keep coming back to Altmer. I usually bounce between Altmer, Dunmer, and Breton. I tend to like magicka characters and love the lore of the Altmer. The Dunmer are cool though, with their intrigue and amorality. Breton are just classy, but I find playing an Altmer scratches the itch better.

I loved bosmer before playing ESO. I always started with one in previous TES titles. But to be honest, my idea of Valenwood was way more grand than what we have in ESO. I loathe Grahtwood. Malabal Tor is one of my least favorite zones. The Bosmer definitely lost some of their appeal, although I still like them as a people.

I also always thought the Khajiit were cool, but never really liked the way they looked in previous titles. I think ESO did a great job with their appearance and I'm a lot more fond of them now than previously.

I like the Dunmer race a lot, but no change between pre-ESO and now.

Bretons are another race I enjoyed pre-ESO. I like that they have human and elven ancestry. It gives them a uniqueness among the other human races. I think I like them more after playing ESO. I never played Daggerfall (I was 5 when it came out), so for me it was really fun to experience their homeland and culture.

I don't know that I have a favorite race. I like all of the above races variably depending on the playstyle I'm looking for. I like Khajiit as sneaky thieves, Dunmer as assassins/illusion specialists, Bretons for conjuration/destruction mages, and Bosmer for archers/thieves. As you can see, I typically play a thief or assassin, but will sometimes dabble with magic. Of course, most of this doesn't apply to my ESO toons.

My favorite races for most TES games, including this one, are Nord and Dunmer. That said, I’ve been enjoying playing Orcs lately. They wouldn’t be a race I would have chosen previously. Not only do I love the Orsinium DLC, but I also love the brutal vibe they bring to my stam classes.

I'd have to go back to Oblivion then. My first ever TES character was an old red Argonian in Oblivion. I then made a High Elf and played around as one for a while till Skyrim came out. I didn't like the look of Argonians in Skyrim so I decided to roll a High Elf, and made her a stealthy Archer. Eventually I got bored and decided to play a Breton and I loved Bretons so much I went back to Oblivion and made one there. Even went so far that when I got Morrowind I rolled a Breton there to!
In ESO I started off as a Breton, experimented with Bosmer and Dunmer, but Bretons are still my favorite and I have around 4 currently in ESO. Half Elf spell swords are cool.

    This is a fun topic.

My first Elder Scrolls character ever was a Khajiit in TES:III Morrowind, and that was because I liked tigers. As I got into the game, I played a few different races and settled pretty well on Argonians becuase they were different. I always had a soft spot for Bosmer too since I liked playing a smol character.

By Oblivion, I was pretty well all in on Bosmer, but I did play some Dunmer every so often. But I mostly stuck to the Bosmer - I played a stealth archetype, so it fit well. Wasn't a fan of the elven voices in Oblivion though.

Skyrim was even harder to keep playing Bosmer though. I usually find the human races boring, but Skyrim was where I found out that I think the viking aesthetic is the best possible look, so I played around with a Nord for a bit. And it was a total power trip. Yeah I kept reverting to stealth in the barrows, but I loved RPing as a musclebound barbarian. It got hard to keep playing the tiny elves after playing a juggernaut for a while.

But by that point, I'd also started to really like the ugly Orcs as well. I was going all-in on the tank archetype by then - funny since I remember in Morrowind thinking that they were literally the worst and hating the warrior playstyle. Now, I know that the next time I pick up Skyrim, I'm playing an Orc (and if Morrowind ever gets remade, I may need to give Garnag another go there as well...). That was around the time I started playing ESO, so an Orc tank was a natural pick, especially since I got the "any alliance" pack and could put him in Skyrim. And yeah, I'm loving it.

I do want to run the story through all three alliances, so I'll take my old forgotten Bosmer through the AD and I'm stoked to take a Nord werewolf through the Covenant. But by now, I'm an Orc through and through.

Nice thread, it is very interesting to see what everyone's favorite race is now compared to when they first started playing. :)

My favorite race was Bosmer until y’all ruined it by changing their innate racial characteristic from a 25 year precedent.

This game is five years old, it’s shameful that you all would remove a feature after 5 years just for profit.

Before I got into the end of the beta test I planned to make a Dunmer dual wield build. Then in the character creation screen I saw that they had really done a lot with Argonians and paired that image with breathing fire as a Dragonknight. I don't play only Argonians but they are still the majority of my characters.

I started as a Khajiit simply because I found them somewhat lacking in earlier games due to paar graphics and lack of content (could not marry anyone in Skyrim)
I really felt in love for the race and most of my chars are still Khajiit. I liked Nord in Skyrim but they feel too one-dimensional in TESO (drunk brutes). The races I feel not connection to are Breton (event the name itself feels out place), Orc (daedra worshipping Nords without drinks) and Argonian, for me their talk is annoying. Maybe this is due to the German voiceover which is quite well-done for other races.
