Is no children immersion breaking?

I will never really understand the immersion players, but no. Having kids around would be weird.

I do have a question for the immersion crowd. Why is the "where are the kids" question always the go-to instead of "why are there only 3-5 houses for everyone to live in the major cities?"

@El_Borracho I consider myself part of the "immersion crowd", but I have to say neither of these really shock me or break my immersion. I also don't think "where are the kids" is the "go-to" for people like me, but there are games around that make it work and make it work well, so why not?

    About the houses,
it needs to be remembered that these games are just a medium to tell a story and just how a book or film cannot show everything there is to a world, neither can a game. If we took everything at face value all the time, then realistically the cultures of Tamriel would have merged into one homogenous culture after the first era. There are just too little people around and the countries are too small, especially if we consider the speed at which information travels in a setting with magic.
Tl;dr: The cities are actually a lot larger and realistically sized but the games only show a selection of them for the sake of reduction to the essential.

No more immersion breaking than high powered, god slaying adventurers outnumbering normal citizens 100 to 1.

Yes, people have noticed there are no children in the game world.

No, to many people this is NOT immersion breaking. In fact, most people take at least a few hours to realize there are no little/young kids in the game. Not having kids around is a lot less immersion breaking than it would be to have kids and have DB killing contracts, players ERP around kids, players attempting to kill all the kids in the game, or people setting *** type scenes around kids, invincible or not. And yes, I do believe that all kinds of "interesting" scenarios would be attempted. Just seeing some of the stuff in zone chat would be more than enough reason to *never* have little/young kid type models in the game.

Not to mention if the standards they would be meeting are the kids in single player Skyrim, then thank the Divines there are no kids in the game.

It is immersion-breaking that people keep bringing this up. Gross.

The towns are sparsely populated as is. Think of the distribution of jobs among NPCs. The lack of children doesn't even register for me.

I stopped concerning myself with the number of buildings and number of NPCs in RPG towns long ago.

All the children are in the bathrooms. Oh, wait. . . .

That one is actually realistic. Bathrooms are a relatively modern concept which would be out of place given the level of technology (magical and otherwise) in Tamriel. Although if you look out for them you can see their predecessor in the form of bowls or buckets kept near the bed.

Toilets are a relatively recent development in western civilization, but other civilizations had them - including flushing toilets - several thousand years ago.

I was going to point out that, with medieval farming techniques, you can support about 2 families with 1 sq km of farmland (or about 5 families with 1 sq mile). So everyone should have starved to death by now, anyway.

Then I remembered that, in ESO, food comes from crates in mines, and ore comes from rocks in fields, so obviously they don't need much farmland.

So there's your answer, all the kids, and the non-adventurer-economy adults, are working in the fields mines to keep everyone fed.

Children are unlocked via Crown Store.

They could pack them in Crates and dole them out as Apex rewards. People could sell them for Gems!

Everyone wins! ZOS. Players. Politicians. Lawyers.
People only see what they want to, I don't want to see children, and so I don't.

Then, if you want to see them, they must be there?!

Update: I tried this in the game, and there were no children. I can only conclude that I do not really want to see them. :disappointed:

Do we really want to hear "I guess you are ok, but don't get on my bad side" from a kid like in Skyrim?- I certainly don't.

At least Skyrim has mods to "remove" children. ;)

Would you let YOUR children run around on the streets with all these armed freaks on burning horses, accompanied by daedra, murdering innocent citizen, throwing fireballs and shooting arrows at each other?

Sure. What does not kill them, makes them want to be guards when they grow up.

It doesn't break my "immersion". But it is weird there are no child NPCs in the game. They ought to add a few, especially in towns.

I'm not even noticed they are missing childrens, so I have a questions about you and why is this bothers you so bad?
Also I believe ZoS won't problems with any crazy activists, thouse speciments can finde any children NPC in game as predator's provocation, especially when some "not very clever guy" will post some spicy screenshots he maked just for lols.

Considering the things people do to children via mods in Skyrim, and how annoying most of them were, better not to have them.

Besides, we have enough ADULT npc's that annoy the *** out of us. "You have no idea how long I've been looking for you." "I heard some stranger saved King Cassimer." "DRAGONS! IN YOUR OWN HOMELAND!" "I'm going to lose my shirt here!"

This comes up about 3 times a year.

    Predictions:
    “Server can’t handle more trash”
    “People are perverts”
    “People want to murder them”
“make the kids unkillable like the cats and dogs we already have running around the city”
“Khajiit/Argonian kids would be a huge project that I’m in favor of/not in favor of”
“There are kids in the game already because I’m an old fogey”
“There are kids in the game already like in Dark Brotherhood”
“There are kids in the game already like in the Grahtwood ghost quest, voice acted and everything”

Let me know if I missed something.

J.K.Rowling revealed that prior to having toilets installed in Hogwarts, the wizards pooped into their robes and magically made it disappear afterwards.

This is not a joke, but it is funny nonetheless.
