the only viable option is to roll the game back to launch, seeing as people have been doing this from day 1. chances are most people have either bought/used/traded duped items and the games economy and player balance is way off because of it. I for one will not re sub knowing every other person I meet has leveled their crafting and toon with cheater goods.

Believe it or not the economy can work itself out thanks to the heavy gold sinks and the fact that without the exploit people won't have the money for overpriced items. This will naturally cause the costs to fall back in line.
that's all well and good, but what about the guy 3 lvls lower than me running around with epic gear in pvp? or the lvl 10 guy who has been buying the mats and has leveled his crafting all the way up? its not fir to the rest of us who have played fair.

Get over it and move on. What you just described means very little if anything in the end.
I will move on,as I suspect a lot of other people will due to an unfair advantage some players have.I suspect you want his game to florish, but with the cheater attitude you have,it will be FTP before you know it.

So you only see short term and thus doom a game over something that over time gets less and less noticeable to the point that it means nothing?

it means something right now,and that's what matters..game has only been out a few weeks,if you rollback now, it will mean nothing later and everyone would be back on equal footing.

Yes punish everyone for something a few did and with something that will work itself out over time. Sounds great. I guarantee that will *** off more people, causing them to quit, than this fixed exploit does now.

Neverwinter did a small rollback (day or two) and that caused a lot of people to quit and that is a free game.

its not the fact that a few did it, its the fact that a lot of the game population bought and used items that they would not have had if the playing field was level. just think about that when your in pvp and a lowbie runs up to you with epic gear and owns you. it matters

Well considering I've seen people both outnumbered, out geared and out leveled decimate zergs by good play, no it doesn't really matter. A better player will more than likely win. And again, over time that advantage vanishes.

Hey, folks. We are aware of the issue, and are working on a resolution. In the meantime, we have disabled guild functionality. We'll update you on when it's back on in this thread, so please keep an eye out there!

TristanK, the link in this thread says I don't have perm to look at it. Were can I find details about when the guild banks will be back?

I just don't get all the whining and bellyaching. So some people got stuff you don't. I don't like the idea of duping and cheating, but it happens because people are greedy stupid animals. Demanding ZOS throw everything out because a relative minority did this is just plain silly.

    A) Every game has these issues occasionally. I have seen them crop up in well established games after expansions or item updates. Sometimes it takes longer to identify and fix than others. It always works itself out. The economy is not permanently damaged and the duped gear becomes undesirable as soon as the next tier becomes available. Give it time. There is little to no economy in this game right now anyway.

    B) Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the ability to wear a piece of gear level based? So everybody is going on about people wearing gear suitable to their level. Maybe there are more than should be, but still, what is stopping you from getting the stuff to make your own? Obviously it is only unfair if you can actually wear it but somehow other players are blocking you from getting it. And how do you react to people who have earned the gear legitimately, or do you just assume that because they have it they must have cheated?

    C) What the heck is wrong with people that get mad because somebody has something they don't in a computer game? You will either get to the same point eventually or you don't have part of the skill set to do so. (Sorry, not everybody deserves a prize for participation.) It's not a big deal - either practice and get good enough to get the stuff yourself or find an entertainment that matches your particular skill set. It's not the devs job to make sure you are always on par with everybody else.

As a side note, I have three characters - one level 10 and two level 11. Everything they are wearing I made or looted in a level appropriate dungeon. My materials were all either harvested by myself or broken down from items I looted. In now way do I care if somebody is wearing something they got from duping. I hope these bugs are fixed and the issue resolved but in no way does it detract from my game play and after reading through all this I have yet to see how it actually detracts from anybody else's game play.

Yesterday, we identified an item duping bug in ESO that some players chose to exploit. We acted quickly, and have since fixed the issue. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to abusing exploitable bugs, and those who were found doing so have has their game account permanently banned.

We want to thank everyone who reported this issue to us. In the future, should you identify what you think could be an exploitable bug, please send it to us in-game via /help or in our help center: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask

"acted quickly" - you acted after seeing the vid - say thank you to the guy who made it , because this was going on since the beta, and was reported on this forum multiple times ;)

won't happen: a few will be banned, the vast majority won't. And anyway, no one will be able to have any number about that.

That's why rollback exist: when things are out of control.

A rollback can just be applied to the economy with no impact on the players xp, skills, achievements etc..

But don't be affraid, a rollback is probably the last thing they will do. For obvious reasons...

I have never seen such an overreaction. Ever. 99.9% of the player base didn't even know this was going on until yesterday. There was no auction house to spread this. Most of it has been deleted, accounts have been banned. The remaining contamination is a drop in the pan to the millions of people left. Quit freaking out like school children.

""forums activists"" may be only 0.1% but most of them are more involved than average in the game and its future. They take some time from their free time to do so. You should not be condescending to them. This is not a poll to know who love the game and who doesn't. People here don't "ruin" anything. In fact most of them try to help, sometimes with passion..

I love the game and I play it quite a lot. That's why I feel concerned.

"Just play the game" is in fact as useless as "learn2play noob" or that kind of things.

And if you think that nothing can "break" a game then you should read interesting papers about the subject. Some very good games "died" prematurely or encountered serious difficulties because of bad game design, poor decisions or bad communication ( SWG, Vanguards, Tabula Rasa, Warhammer Online..to name a few).

    Have some good time ingame..

They wont. Remember how this game does not have a central economy to begin with? Oh yeah that... This does not effect the game in any major way, as there is not a centralized AH for people to buy and sell from. Meaning this is being blown out of proportion because people are applying the economic principals of other popular MMOs to ESO, which is not in any way shape or form like those other games.

There are plenty of ways to launder game gold. And plenty of laundering will have happened.

People saying gold doesn't matter are just naive.

People complaining about advantage want to whine about the advantage they give to people playing Beta for months and the red carpets they roll out for certain guilds.

Rollbacks hurt too much for the average whiny mmo player and so they wont happen for anything other than a complete disaster.

If they were not spending so much time responding to player reports about legitimate gameplay maybe they would have resources to police the serious aspects of the game properly instead of feeding mmo cry babies.

How many innocent players will get banned ? Plenty I bet. They have been suspending and banning people that are clearly innocent already it seems and the appeals and disciplinary process is not remotely open and transparent.

The reason for this is by announcing it early it gives those that exploited a much easier time of off loading their stuff (not simply transferring to one, but to many), making effective banning harder to do.

Vocalize frustrations is one thing. Act like there is nothing being done and nothing being communicated is another. Most people act like the latter.

Nope. The smart people off load all the time. They dont sit around like drunks stealing booze from behind the counter after the police are called.

They get in get out bank their stuff and repeat. Being caught is an occupational hazard they plan for, not a bolt out of the blue.

Easy fix ... reset anyone with gold >50k to 50K. Destroy all current legendaries including materials.

This way the dupers are banned and anyone who profited has minimal advantage over others.

The effect on the real gamers who play without cheating is minimal. yes it will upset some, but even crafters wont complain too much as legendaries are worthless right now, as there are way too many out there.

I love to sift these threads & watch all the "80% unrightfully suspended" messages & the "Wow U R all crybabies over-reacting" & "It's just a game"

If I were ZoE; I'd literally be looking into every account that

    1. Uses improper (english) syntax on the forums
    2. has in any way bashed players for wanting the player-involved game breaking bugs fixed
    3. has in any way flamed the forums with "Oh you whiners when I wuz playing "x" game this was all good & fine!"

...& if you don't like it, don't let the door hit ya on the way out."
