Elemental Succession is still bad

Elemental Succession

OLD: While you are in combat, you gain a rotating bonus to Flame, Shock, or Frost Damage. The active element changes every 4 seconds. Your attacks dealing damage with the active element gain 515 Spell Damage.

NEW: Whenever you deal Flame, Shock, or Frost Damage, you gain 500 Spell Damage for that element for 4 seconds. This effect can occur every 8 seconds per element. You can have multiple different elemental buffs active simultaneously.

No point to wear this set ... I mean ... what the point to change the set if they just plan to keep it useless af.

Julianos gives you 300 spell damage for EVERYTHING, with a 100% uptime.

IIRC these element-focused buffs don’t affect light attack damage even if it’s that element type, so increasing the duration of the buff to 6 seconds (375 average spell damage increase per element) seems to me like it could be balanced. If you’re heavily focused on a particular element then the base game set (sun, netch, ysgramor) could still be marginally better.

Only use I can imagine offhand for its new iteration is magsorcs in PvP who set up curse and mw and then burst with force pulse, but even then spell strategist is probably better.

It would be good for magcros since their skills span all three element types.

No, they do apply to appropriate light and heavy attacks. At least it does on sets like Silks of the Sun.

    1000+ CP
    PC/EU Ravenwatch Daggerfall Covenant

No. It's still worse than Julianos in the best case scenario, especially in PvE, where DoTs even out damage over time.

If the spell damage or uptime was better it could make an interesting front bar set. Having 500 spell damage on your front bar only is probably close to Julianos flat 300 spell damage.

Actually, if you have 8 skill rotation(4 dots 4 spammables) with force pulse as spammable, it is not that bad.

It still suffers from not affecting the Magic damage type. I’m never going to use a set that neglects buffing Crystal Frags, Assassins Will, Deep Fissure, and Radiant Oppression (to name just a few of the many important skills that are not Fire, Frost, or Shock).

With a longer duration it might make a decent front bar set, since Julianos is lost on bar swap. Would have to compete with sets like BSW though, which is far from its current state.

I haven't got to use elemental succession yet. What about spider cultist paired with it? Frontbar force shock, force clutch, force pulse, solar barrage, explosive charge. Back bar harness magicka, vampires bane, unstable woe, elemental drain and maybe auroran spear to start off with?

It’s probably the best offensive set for magcro since it’s Allround useable for all kind of content not every set should work on every class...
Uptime on a cro is Basicly 100% which makes it better than most other Sets especially crap like julianos...

Indeed, Succession is bae on my magCro and it's never coming off.

It buffs literally every skill that I use and with the constant DoTs ticking away the buffs for all three elements are always up.

Could scarcely imagine a better set for the class (well, maybe if you swapped that Max Mag to Spell Crit but I won't be greedy...).

It doesn’t buff Mystic Orb or Entropy, but I’m ok with that because otherwise it would beat Spell Strat in single target (which it shouldn’t).

Ack, I hate when I get necro'd. They should auto-close posts older than six months old or something since the game changes so often.
