Something is fishy, and people are/were up to something until ZOS found out, as i never had any problems with being banned or suspended. Not hard to make sense of it considering the amount of hostility on the forums. A guilty person will act out.--Common sense.

Exactly this. I have seen this sort of thing happen in every new MMO I've ever played. Don't believe the rants being posted in the forums right now. Most these accounts were banned for valid reasons.

What happens when you assume people are guilty when you have no idea what is going on? Maybe when you get booted and banned and don't know why someone will give you the benefit of the doubt.

I won't get banned because I don't break the rules. I've played enough games to know people lie and rant when they get banned for legit reasons. Runescape for example, people banned for botting would swear blind they did not bot. Same thing here. You're guilty, re-buy the game or move on.

They got caught. Period. This same outcry happened a few years ago when Blizzard did a ban wave of like, a hundred thousand accounts for exploiting / scripting.

The thing about exploiting currency, is it's extremely traceable. There was zero tolerance - so if you did it once, you were most likely banned for it. Everyone will profess innocence, but the majority are most likely guilty - if not all of them. It's not like this was some crazy hack or impossible exploit - this was very easy to do and most likely abused by a ton of people who never thought ZoS was watching. Surely they regret it now, but that's life, be honest and have integrity and this wont happen.

As soon someone rages, I get very suspicious and have serious doubts about their innocence. Its common sense that you don't rage if you are innocent, as you know that its just a temporary issue and you can prove your innocence.

However, if you did wrong then you cant prove your innocence, therefore you freak out to make it look like the others are guilty of your "crime".

I think its good that ZO did act, too many games let these folks ruin their game, just look at D3 and how it was destroyed 2 weeks after release by streamers and their fans who abused various exploits to get gold and top loot.

All these hate/QQ posts about the mass banning makes me so happy to see. I highly doubt that any of the people complaining are actually legitimately innocent. It's actually surprising how obvious there lies and inconsistencies are from a third party perspective.
Zenimax have done well to save the in game economy. It will not be perfect but it was efficient damage control and Kudos to the team.

This is why most games don't allow banned players to post messages. Discussing bans in the forum is never productive.

The recourse is to deal with customer service.

I bet most the people complaining were banned for something breaking TOS but figure that if they raise enough of a stink on the forums they will look innocent and get unbanned.

Im glad they are banned, if by any reason some are indeed innocent then Im sure in due time their account will be reactivated as long as they dont act like jerks (to much) when appealing the ban.

People forget being rational regardless is the best method and gets you further. Then again the maturity level in a community like this ranges from one extreme end to the other....as in good to really bad.

If My account were banned I would follow the support procedures. If I was unhappy with the results I would just stop playing the game in disgust and let all my friends know what has happened. I would also make sure payments through my bank were canceled and never again recommend the game to anyone. I like this game but that is all it is, there are other games out there.

What I would not do is rant and be abusive on the forums over it.

I dunno, I wouldn't be posting in a forum about the whole thing if I was actually innocent - I'd be quietly talking to customer support and getting it fixed.

All the noise makes them look guilty.

i do believe someone could have done dupping innocently as apprerantly it was a easy exploit. however there's a big ? mark in the matter.

The only reason you dont see this in other MMO's - they ban forum accounts with the account. We wouldn't even know about this if ZoS did this, another lesson they'll learn in customer service/public relations.

No point in raging, I'm submitting a ticket and following the process to get un-suspended.

Looks like some mistakes were made.

Am I annoyed that I can't log in on a Friday evening due to a mistake? Sure.

Do I have a life outside of ESO and more constructive things to do this weeked? Yes :)

Guilty or innocent, throwing abusive fits in the forums (or anywhere) is wrong, and not helpful to anyone, including the person doing it. Not to mention it make them look really bad. There is no point in making yourself look unstable.

If you think a company uses scripts or automation to detect anything but no-clip style hacking, you're insane.

The dupe exploit was very traceable yet very easy to do, the perfect storm for a lot of people getting banned.

It's unfortunate this exploit came to light just before the weekend, but I'd be blaming the exploiters for this one rather than ZOS or (next move) any members of the forum.

You should be happy ZOS is at least taking action, even if it might have caught a few innocents at least this means the exploiters are in danger of being caught and destroyed.
