Why do Devs ruin such great games?

The people making the games suck at games, there's some internet logic.

Have you seriously not seen developers play their own game? Most of them aren't very good at them because they only work on a specific part of the game or on certain code. They have different people that test the game in house. Why do you think they have closed beta's and the like for people to play the game and report back to them?

Not to mention if they really were good at games then balance would be a non issue. So while you say internet logic like it's intangible and non existent but it's not.

There are more, but it's not as uncommon as you think it is. Just like in movies, people that write the scripts usually don't direct/act/produce the movies. Bethesda has been around for a while, so it wouldn't come to me as a shock if the game dev's didn't play their own games for testing.

Unless your quote wasn't actually being sarcastic, then oops my bad.

They also push up prices for items - especially once they start selling people gold. This typically doesn't affect hardcore players as they are going to benefit from a price rise, it's typically casual players who are negatively affected by skyrocketing auction house prices.

Edit: To clarify - typically it will push prices of hard to get items up and since the gold farmers themselves typically flood the market with low priced crafting mats and the like easy to get items become essentially worthless. This hurts the casual players as they can't can't earn money easily through farming crafting supplies due to the bots and they can't afford the high priced good gear.

Seriously, dude, I know what QA testers are. What I don't know is how you can honestly believe that the people who designed and wrote the entire combat system for ESO don't know how to use it. They programmed the whole thing, wrote in all the variables, know which skills are useful when and according to you they suck at playing their own game. Really?

Also, who do you think tests the game before the QA testers get it? You think the programmers just write the code and send it off? You don't think they take a few moments to make sure the thing actually works before turning it in to their boss? And they must live miserable lives if they spend every waking hour at work on ESO.

Lastly, programmers are great problem solvers. That's all programming is, problem solving. What they don't teach programmers is how to deal with customers. That's why you have people like community managers. Where the poor decisions are being made are at the top where the brass looks at how things are affecting sales and makes decisions based purely on that.

Could you please extend your story to mention how many innocent players were caught in this mass banning spree? There was a bug which reset players banks to 60 slots, causing them to lose all their gold in the bank and items held in the lost slots. When this bug occurred Zenimax sent duplicate CE items to these users and now they have been banned due to having duplicate items. This has just happened to my husband who I woke up after reading the forums, fearing he had been banned because of the bug. We had no idea there was even duping in the game and my account is fine despite us playing together all the time (I didnt get the bank bug as I didn't upgrade my bank after he encountered it). Zenimax have not restored the lost items or bank upgrades and have now banned thousands of players for a bug they caused!

Wildstar beta weekend coming up in a bit.

They did, actually. Tell me how the entire first month launch of WoW, Warhammer, AoC, Aion, FF14, Hellgate, Tabula Rasa, Tera, Defiance, and etc went.

This game has issues. Some serious ones. But to claim some others didn't have the same or worse is outright false. I still think the best launch goes to Trion with Rift, GW2 was a decent launch as well. For every one MMO that launches well, 20 dont. This is nothing new.

Duplicate CE items are the not the cause of the bans.

I was hit with the bank bug and received duplicate CE items, but I am not banned.

Where ZOS wins the golden prize is for worst customer service, wost community interaction, and worst transparency.

The game itself actually isn't nearly as bad as MANY other were at launch. ZOS is the problem.

There is no excuse for the dupe glitch. Zenimax has known about it since beta, and arrogantly choose to ignore it. Now it's eating their game.

Zenimax is all but helpless, when they no longer have their mod community to fix their problems for free (and often without thanks).

I would be more forgiving if this just sprang up, or if the game wasn't compounded by countless other bugs and bewildering design decisions. But they CHOSE not to act for at least two weeks. And the sheer inability to learn from other games' mistakes is obscene. They couldn't even rip off Rift's rift/invasion mechanics without half assing it.

I blame the upper management at Zenimax Online. The leads. They really seem too arrogant, and frankly full of really bad ideas, or good ideas that are implemented poorly.
