So frustrating... so many other places to start and I’m forced into one.

Everyone should start in the Wailing Prison, I teaches the mechanics of the game much better than any other starter quest and is the closest thing this game has to a proper tutorial.

Of course a tutorial explaining mechanics in depth would be far better. I recently met a cp600 who thought the more gear pieces you had of a set, the more powerful the bonuses would be -_-

That sounds like a great concept though. 12/5 could give you more than double the bonus (240% of the set effect):trollface:

@ZOS_RichLambert can you actually do something about this, please?

    People been asking since Morrowind.

In ZOS they don't care about their game.

For them it's just a tool to drain money. That's why we don't have racial backgrounds in the main menu, we don't see updates of old motifs or new animations for running, attacking. We don't see actual love for the game and this laziness and "don't care condition" so *** visible!

Watch a mod lock this thread even though the topic is still relevant and not outdated or anything.

I don't understand why ZOS felt the need to force you into starting the game with every new chapter if you have it. There people buying the version that has the base game too, because they haven't played before, and slapping them down anywhere that isn't the main quest line is just going to confuse them when they finally get to it. You should either have a choice, or it should default to the game's main quest with the Vestige.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

Yep, when I started playing, I bought base game + Morrowind. I had no idea about the main quest line. When I went to base game zones, I was so confused by the anchors and what a "planemeld" was. When I finally figured it all out, I felt a bit cheated. I like to play things in order and I'm sure a lot of others do too. I think you should be given that option..

Easy way for this: Have a new pop up when you choose "Create Character." Something like this:
    wm5XJQ8.png
I'm sure they can match the looks to the other menus and write more interesting flavor text. It wouldn't take much dev time - just another menu - and all of the quests are still in the game.

Anyway, that way we could play any tutorial we want. After all, they did pay the actors to record those lines, so it's a pity that nobody can go back to them. And then they could give a free skill point to anyone who chooses to tstart the MQ so they also don't lose out on a skill point.

Besides, this could also be 'consumer-friendly' enough to add a "Buy now!" button next to the chapters you don't have.

I actually didn't buy Elsweyr and one of my reasons for not doing so was because I'd lose my tutorial...as if that matters since not I ended up getting Greymoor. If they're expecting a bunch of new players coming in, it'd help to have something like this so the new players can figure out the story...especially if they're expecting a lot of people like me who are coming from Skyrim since we have Elder Scrolls withdrawal and are much more interested in the story than the MMO part of this game.

Amazing. You've already done more than teh devs about this.

    That's actually sad...

ZOS, how about - oh, I don't know OH! OH! OH! I DO, I DO INDEED! #Sheogorath - allow ESO+ people to have this possibility to start where THEY want (vanilla / Morrowind / Summerset / Elsweyr / Greymoor /). As for others, non-ESO+, let us buy this chance for... 1k - 1,5k Crowns?

This way you will stick to "our way" or "pay - to have it your way."

My belief - this should be free, but yeah, what do I know...

I have another solution and here are my thoughts.
Probably too much work but make the intro in Coldharbour, right, but while you there you make some decisions and the combination of those decisions will affect the location you start in (you get tp'd to your faction start or one of the DLCs)

I'm coming back again to hope this choose-a-tutorial thing is in the cards.

I got Elsweyr since it was on sale and I wanted to try out a necromancer. All well and good, and the tutorial is a little more in depth for that one, but I really miss Eoki and Naryu from my old one. And as soon as Greymoor comes out, I'll be changing it up again.

It's a pity since the character I started is an alt I really wanted to play Morrowind with, but now he ended up in NElsweyr. Yeah, I just wayshrined over, but I'd rather have let him get off the boat at Seyda Neen - there was something so nostalgic about starting there since TESIII was my first ever TES game.

Please let us choose our tutorial/starting location! It takes away nothing, still lets the newbies go to the newest chapter, but doesn't take away the older ones (and the money you spent designing the locations and paying the actors, now barred off to most people)
