It's cheaper than a new game and contains more than a brand new game of content so it seems fair to me.
Unfortunately for you, this year's Skyrim Chapter set around Solitude bears a striking resemblance to a game called Skyrim. I wouldn't want to compare content and costs  Nor visuals for that matter...

My only complaint is that it wasn't $29.99 since it doesn't have a new class.
    • Morrowind - $39.99 - Warden class
    • Summerset - $29.99 - no new class
    • Elsweyr - $39.99 - Necro class
    • Greymoor - $39.99 - no new class

it should be worth pointing out that $60AUD is about $41USD at the moment (thanks google), so Aussies really only be paying about a buck more. P=
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

Can someone clarify for me..I thought ESO+ gave you free access to DLC content after a year of release. Does that include the chapter release as well? I bought Elswyr because I thought my ESO+ only gave me DLC access like dark brotherhood. Am I misunderstanding DLC vs. chapter content?

DLC? That's immediate. ESO Plus gives you immediate access to all DLC.
If you mean Chapters... yes. Once another chapter is released, the one before it becomes available through ESO Plus.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm fairly certain.

Yes you're right, that's been the pattern thus far.

Back when Morrowind was first announced, ZOS spun up that new word "Chapter" and summarily excluded it from the definition of "DLC" so that it'd be a separate purchase at release. But since Summerset, the older Chapter zone content is included in ESO+, with the notable exception of new classes, which are a separate purchase on the Crown store (due to logistical problems in locking characters behind a subscription).

It's a shock and a wonder this thread is still going. I wonder how this argument would work in a restaurant? Sorry I don't like the cost of your triple A quality food. Ok good sir, pls head down the street to McDonalds. Or feel free to stand at the front door and bash our prices and quality to all the other customers.

I may be wrong but this is my understanding. You buy Chapters. With ESO+ all the DLC's within that chapter are free.

When you subscribe to ESO+ AFTER you have been playing then all previous DLC's become available. I started playing and subscribed at the same time so everything was open to me at the start.

To be honest, this is the only chapter I don't feel like buying at day 1.
Game is getting old, and while I still love it, I hardly play more than 10 hours per week.
So yeah, I do agree, price tag is too high _for me_ , and luckily this chapter doesn't offer too many advantages if compared to those who won't buy it.

I'll just wait until it goes on sale

I am sure someone has clarified this for you on the next page but it is simply that Zos has labeled this a chapter. The zone content and group content becomes part of a DLC a year later with some added value parts sometimes becoming crown purchase then.

Basically it is a play on words and for the questing content no one has to buy the chapter. If they subscribe they will gain full access to the zone and it's quests a year later. If they do not subscribe and buy DLCs instead they can buy the DLC then as well.

To be fair if I went to a favorite restaurant, and ordered the same steak to find it was £10 more expensive than last time, I certainly would question it. Do I get more steak? Are there extra sides with it? Why is it £10 more than last time? If the reply explained to my satisfaction why it was more expensive then fine, I'd pay up without complaining. Questioning a price hike isn't complaining, it's asking a question. The question of why this expansion is more costly than the previous ones has not been answered yet. You can love something without being slavishly devoted to it and unquestioningly throwing money at it, you know.

Just because someone doesn't think something is "AAA", doesn't mean they can't like or enjoy it. There's plenty of great non-"AAA" games out there.
(I mean, just ask people who enjoy the EDF games - pretty sure they'll all say the game is like, "B", at best. :D)

That fluff is trash to a lot of people (not everyone) and without it you could surely make it a more reasonable price for Australians who are barely wanting to play your game as it is...

Get rid of the trash items and make it $40AUD or at least take me to dinner before you....

Lets be perfectly clear here, the same price would still be too high because there is less content.

    - Zone DLC
    - Two minigame timesinks, very likely Bejeweled themed
    - One 3-boss trial

    That’s it

    Meanwhile Morrowind added:
    - Battlegrounds, best PvP update this game’s seen when it got moved to base (soon to be ruined but it was good while it lasted)
    - Zone DLC
    - New Class
    - One 5-boss trial

The price is the same as last year. If you don't want to pay that but want to play it, you have options.

    1) Wait until second half of 2020 and it will go on sale
    2) Wait until 2021 chapter releases, get access to greymoor with eso+ (if pattern of chapters becoming dlc continues).

That's the way it works. If you want to play it as soon as it drops, you have to pay the full price that is no more expensive than last year.

Or 3. It's already up for 51 aud on cdkeys.. if someone exerts a little patience for a month or so it may be In the 40s on Kinguin shortly..

There is about 200 active MMOs out right now. That the info on mmorpg.com. There are tones of options and ESO is one of the top MMO to date. They could ask for more just because of the demand. People will pay it.

Parts of the game may be AAA - but the current overall quality level is not.

Your hypothetical restaurant may have won five stars and occupy a fancy space, but if they mess up my order, burn my food, and spill the drinks, I'm not going to care and I'm not going to be willing to pay the same price as if they had performed at five star levels.

ESO is the same way - an interesting IP in a pretty virtual world, but the game itself runs like some crap put out by a fly by night studio (e.g. cancelled events due to servers crashing / failed systems, incessant / excessive load screens, consistently buggy / laggy performance).

Oh and just because there are worse games out there doesn't make this game great.

No, ESO+ doesn't give you free access to anything because ESO+ isn't free.

Yes, ESO+ gets you access to old chapters since they become crown store DLC when new chapter drops. That access does not include new classes though. Those are separate purchases.
