I am pretty hyped but at the same time not. As of right now I don't picture my main being a vamp so that skill line being overhauled does nothing for me, the other new system are interesting for sure. We'll see, this could be a great year or could be a year where I finally catch my Necro main up on all the content

Pretty let down. I miss the days when an expansion pack added new level cap and abilities, in addition to new quest content. Dont get me wrong, new story is great but once you've experienced it, we will basically be where we are at now... not really advancing the game IMO

    extremely hyped.

love darker themes in Elder Scrolls, love they are reworking the vampire skill line, and im curious about the new Antique system. not to mention the performance enhancements coming sound promising if all goes well.

Its not that I hate it, I'm interested in antiquities and even when I don't care about Skyrim I know that these writers are awesome.
    But:
The price is just too much for the little content. Should be a DLC or cost half so I'll buy at the end of the year in a sale and meanwhile watch the story in youtube like I did with Elsweyr.

TBH when I saw vampires, I was a bit excited. Me being a sucker for all vampire things and all.

However.... Let's look at it a bit.

    New feeding animations are great!

Remake of the skill line that's peachy. BUT let's wait and see what comes of it.

Then I realized. Are we going to be able to move around in the form of a swarm of bats like the vampires in the cinematic? Teleport to enemies and move at lightning speed and eviscerate them in one blow? Vanish at will and escape combat? I'll bet my right hand that the answer is no, because that would be too OP for PvP nerf plz!!!. So.... Meh.

Artifacts? Meh. I truly find no interest in it. There are so many things to grind already, and who complained they had too many skill points? I certainly don't.

Story content.... I haven't even done Silver. And I have definitely not done anything starting at CWC, so I personally have zero interest in more quests/content/story.

Dungeons? I'll crave more once I have all the previous dungeon achievements done. Which will likely be in.... Ten years. Same for trials.

So no. There's nothing here that excites me. Vampires, yes!! But I am 100% sure I'm going to be disappointed by the changes.

Here's a thought. Vampires should NOT be allowed to use Fighters Guild abilities/passives. However, the vampire skill line would be an exact copy of the passives and skills with different animations and flavor text. This would mean that those wanting to RP a vampire could do so, and would have no advantage over those who decided not to. A blood rune on the ground to stun or heal. A dark mine that has the same effect as the beast trap. A blood spear to replace the silver leash. And so on.

Performance improvements. Yes. Big thumbs up. Provided it works instead of breaking the game even more :joy:

So yeah. Will wait and see.

    I like
    the location
    the vampire theme
black reach being a big portion of it

    I dont like
    No winterhold or whiterun
    no new skill/weapon-line or class
no new arena, pvp mode or multiplayer activity

I am neutral but kinda meh about the whole antiquities...not necessarily something i was looking for in the game tbh and my gut tells me it will just be a grind

Performance issues I have no confidence in them fixing, nerfs and radical pendulum swinging combat changes every three months, no meaningful additions to PvP, and the final nail is a light content "chapter" that is basically a glorified patch that adds in a reworked already existing skill line and rips off WoW's archeology profession. Not to mention STILL no update on CP or any form of actual player progression.

I've had a great time in this game, and met some wonderful and amazing people. I'll always remember this game fondly.
I just cannot justify paying full price for this light amount of content.

    Not hyped.

    Not bothered.

This year is dominated by the lack of invention and imagination I feared. It is, not just literally, but actually, the same s***t on a different day...

SAME annual format, DLC dungeon, Chapter, DLC dungeon, story zone. You say ‘familiar’, I say ‘tired and unexciting’ and ‘looking dangerously like you’ve run out of ideas’
SAME storylines. Is it me or does the ‘new’ DLC dungeon synopsis of ‘a group of crack warriors went into a dungeon, never came out and appear to have been taken over to defend it’ sound like the synopsis of Depths of Malatar, where a ‘group of crack warriors went into a dungeon... blah, blah, blah’? I’m bored even typing it out...
SAME lame character recall.. is it fun to see the same characters doing the same thing over and over? Will this year be the year we finally meet Rigubert’s family (like we met Raz’s family in Elsweyr)? Does anyone even care? Did your heart rise with joy when you found Rigubert in Rimmen, or do you sneak guiltily past him hoping her won’t recognise you and force you to find some long lost Nord doohickey? Will Lyris have the same ‘who the f cares’ response Sai did to players who killed her during the main quest when you meet her in Castle Greyskull?
SAME shite pre-order rewards... have another crappy pony reskin you will never want to ride, a costume that doesn’t dye and, wowsers! some XP scrolls. That’s a whole load of no re-upping for me.

Antiquities could be interesting if it’s searching and exploring like the Dragonhold prologue was. Not if it’s 2 different lock/puzzle box mini games. And I’m not optimistic about which option ZOS will be choosing.

So I guess I’m not fully enthused eh?

    Colour me meh!

Time and again we hear "Separate teams! Performance fixes aren't the same team as the content team!" anytime someone says they should concentrate on fixing the game over adding new stuff.

Now those same people are justifying a lack of content because of....performance fixes. Performance fixes, Rich said on the Reveal stream, would be a "slight improvement"...nothing like the miracle some players have convinced themselves it will be.

What happened to "Separate teams!"? Shouldn't we be getting fixes AND content?

Totally agree. It's like they just don't wont to make the slightliest effort. Skyrim could have been a mass success, but the stream didn't reach the expected viewer numbers. Why? Imo cause people already knew what would happen: nothing new. Only Antiquities, something nobody ever asked for. Could be nice, but it won't probably be a game changer.

All they need to do is bring back The Prophet to sell the next DLC after this one, and every player who did the main story will have the privilege of knowing that the whole planemeld thing was just a joke and the character they chose to be sacrificed didn't really die to stop it like they said.

So many timeline contradictions and story retcons it's ridiculous. Just reeks of profit hounding at the cost of a solid story... flavor of the quarter, step right up and click "I accept" on that credit card form, nothing has to make sense but hey, here's some reskinned items and some rehashed plots to keep your mind off the persistent bugs and awful performance issues!

    Not in the slightest.

My ambitions to at this late stage still become a better player basically went out the window with the DoT meta whiplash. So I don't care about the Mythic gear, whatever that winds up being.

Overland content is boring from a combat standpoint, so it has to be really good by other standards for me to care. So far:
    • I liked many things about Wrothgar, despite the tedium of the "make the clans like me" filler quests.
    • I hate PvP and haven't done the IC quests to this day.
    • I didn't much like the Vvardenfell main quest, nor the landscape, and have done very few side quests there.
    • I do, however, base my characters in Vivec City.
    • I really liked and even repeated the Clockwork City main quest chain. I also really like the Clockwork City art. The side quests, however, feel lame.
    • I hate everything about Murkmire and doubt I'll ever complete a single quest there, repeatables for an event possibly excepted.
    • I love the art in Summerset. I really like the main quest and some of the side quests there. However, the general Altmer obnoxiousness wore me down, and I've left some side quests undone.
    • I'll do the main Elsweyr quest lines some day, I presume.
    • My only previous Elder Scrolls game was Morrowind, so I care little about the lore.

    They are separate teams.

You don’t want the artists doing database programming. That’s just stupidity.

But there’s a single pot of pay for them. It doesn’t get bigger just because there are more things players want done (sadly). You put that all to team 1 you get more content and continued crappy performance, you split it up you get less content and performance improvements. We are getting both content and (hopefully) fixes/improvements.

No players are going to pay for just performance improvements (sad though that might be). Although I would have hoped that at least a part of my ESO+ sub would do just that. More fool me eh?

And it’s the cost of an AAA game because, well, that’s what it costs (and what players are prepared to pay) and they are essentially rewriting large parts of the game while it’s also running with minimal downtime (which is pretty impressive when you think about it). If it was a single player game many of these improvements would be used to create a new version of the game (also for a full game price). If it’s too much, just wait a while, Elsweyr is barely 6 months old and already it’s being sold for a tenner. Or bundled in with the new chapter.

A game of beautiful graphics is catering to people that want an extremelly easy singleplayer rpg with coop mode and people that have fasion/renovation fetishes.

    As opposed to PVP "fetishes"?

Types of gameplay may reflect some people's fetishes, but the main one is certainly not decorating virtual houses.

Not to mention that they haven't even bothered to tell us what housing to expect in the new chapter, yet and the fact that the houses in the current one have been very sub-par, with some of the furnishings still left looking blurry and out of focus.

If anything, they need to cater far more to housing, not less.

Currently, it's neglected and has been for some time.

There's only 1 thing I'm looking forward to and that is the Vampire rework and visiting Skyrim again. That's it. And that's not much for a chapter since the vamp rework is being added to base game.

This new Antiquities system is just not for me. I am not into running all over the map for trinkets and such. Not my cup of tea. I'll probably do it on one character for the house furnishings and that's it.

The 2 new up coming dungeons have me concerned. I recall hearing a dev say these will be harder than the other dlc dungeons. If that's true then a large portion of the player base will avoid going in there especially on vet. I'm a main tank and I live in those dlc dungeons. Sad part is most people avoid them or instantly quit or log out at the first wipe.

I'm hoping that the lack of content is due to the devs spending most of their time/energy/ and resources trying to fix the game. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Not hyped. I felt incredibly let down and disappointed, more so than in the last years.

Why? Because gameplay and combat doesn’t change or get any new things. The gameplay is already so stale that I can only play ESO for some weeks and quit for months afterwards because there is nothing new.

A standard Chapter zone doesn’t excite me at all because all the zones are the same.

I wanted a new feature, something to change and affect the incredibly boring build and class tropes we have for years no. And then they bring us Antiquities, a Housing-like fluff feature and NOTHING new for combat.

    Just no.

I'm starting to suspect 'hyped' means a different thing to me than most people on gaming forms. Hyped to me means literally can't sit still, dancing around the room in excitement, can't stop smiling etc. That's how I reacted when I finally got tickets to see my favourite band with (most of) the original lineup back together, something I'd been told would never happen in this lifetime. It's not how I'm likely to react to the predictable announcement of the next expansion to a game with the same mix of content and features they've done 3 times previously.

I'm interested in Greymoor, but I wouldn't say I'm particularly excited about it. At this point ESO expansions are fairly standard which makes it hard for it to be exciting.

Then don't charge the same price as the expansions that gave more gameplay-changing content.

Performance improvements are basically maintenance on the game - that's not a feature of a new Chapter. That's assuming they actually work. I will believe that ZOS is fixing Cyrodiil performance when it actually happens.

I think they are struggling to keep this content cadence up.

Every "Chapter" since Morrowind has contained less and less content for the same amount of money.

Now we are basically getting a zone, a trial and global fetch questing for furniture and mementos for the price of a full chapter? This "chapter" is not much more than a zone DLC with maybe a bit more land area.

Personally, not excited about the story either and still have to wait to see just how this combat team is going to sledgehammer everyone, yet again.

My three year ESO+ renewal was in two-days. For the first time in three years, I will be letting the sub lapse. Time to give things in ESO a rest for a while for me.
