Proper - How Hyped Are You For The New Chapter?

Well, I'm ok with the new chapter, and I'm happy to have some new content now and then, but it's not like it was with Summerset or Elsweyr "OMG I want to play NOOOOOW and I MUST see that awesome countryside immediately!". Even for Morrowind I was more excited (since it was the very first chapter), especially for the new warden class.

Vampires are not my cup of tea, the thing I'm most interested in this time is the archaeology mini-game, which only seems to be a small side-activity though. There seems to be nothing game-changing in this expansion, no new class, no new fighting or crafting skill line... There's just another new quest line/dungeons/trial, like the many that already exist, which is nice but not awesome. Vampires get re-vamped, but that's available for everyone and not exclusive to the chapter, and as someone with only one real vampire character, who is like my character # 8 or #9, I don't care a lot.

While I’m personally more meh (vampires and nords aren’t my favorite but I don’t dislike either), I’m hyped for the people who are excited about this. I pretty much had my dream chapter (excluding performance and combat changes) in Elsweyr with all the glorious cats, pretty desert landscape, etc so I’m happy others will be getting a chapter that’s more their speed.
And more Jennifer Hale is always welcome.

Edit: my wallet will also appreciate this chapter, I might have gone a bit too BUY ALL THE CAT THINGS the previous chapter 😳

Artifacts? Meh. I truly find no interest in it. There are so many things to grind already, and who complained they had too many skill points? I certainly don't.

It is actually funny that you mention it. I was noticing that I don't have any Level 50 CP 160+ characters that have all skill points allocated. Not complaining, but skill points are not a character growth factor in this game anymore. At least, not for me.

I'm starting to suspect 'hyped' means a different thing to me than most people on gaming forms. Hyped to me means literally can't sit still, dancing around the room in excitement, can't stop smiling etc

It is sort of like "nerf" in that it has the right general meaning, but the bar is lowered regarding when it can be used. It used to be when "nerf" was used, it really meant something. Not so much today. At least, not here. The same does apply to "hype". I figure that if "nerf" can be used any time someone in the combat crowd is displeased, then "hype" can be used any time there is excitement over something.

As for me, no, I am not jumping up and down and unable to sleep, although I would have been during a trip to Vegas, if I had gone. Yes, I would have gone if I had not had a conflict. I pre-ordered during the show. I will be in it on PTS the first day it is available. I will be in it on May 22, when it launches. I am seeing plenty of opportunity and value in the chapter purchase. That makes me "extremely hyped", compared to a lot of others in the forum.

I have to agree on the "missed Skyrim" opportunity. I expected them to head to Skyrim next year, in conjunction with the anniversary on 11/11/21. Maybe they have something along those lines planned for 2021, as suggested in the article, and mentioned by me even last year, but it is also likely Bethesda wants them to stay the heck away from Skyrim in 2021. They might consider that the Skyrim brand is losing luster due to over use.

I also agree that they are getting stuck in a rut with the chapters, and even the year long stories. They seem to be revolving around an "average" content level, some a little higher, some a little lower, but all averaging out in the big picture. That will make things more familiar and normal for each year.

I'm not saying they can't change my mind, but as of now I'm not.

I don't agree with the doubling down on tying year long story content and locking it behind dungeons that can only be completed with a group. If they were to make a difficulty setting on par with or less than the first round or two of Group dungeons and without the member count checks I would definitely start leaning in the hyped direction. (Be able to solo with at least a semi-competent player). I also wouldn't scoff at an outright story mode for this purpose.

I've been losing interest in ESO over the past year, so I recently cancelled my sub and I'm taking a break from the game. I haven't really looked at the new chapter, so I know very little about it. I'm just burned out on ESO's crappy RNG and the constant grind, as well as the lack of any news on the CP cap.

I’m not sure what the difference is between “not hyped” and “don’t care.”

    For me:
    Skyrim and Nords — indifferent
    Vampires — dislike

I’ll probably get the expansion much later in the year when it goes on sale. But I’m still hyped about ESO — just started in July and haven’t completed any questline beyond Northern Elsweyr yet as I get caught up in events and doing dungeons and battlegrounds with friends so I still have lots to do! I love elves (all of them!) and Khajiit and Argonians are pretty cool too, so lots of storylines I’m still very much looking forward to. :)

At first not excited, but then I see all the high profile delays and knew it would be a repeat year of 2019. The fact that dark heart if Skyrim is better than 95% of the games still left to come out is a telling sign of where the industry is now. So moderately excited I went from meh to 7 out of 10 because there are basically little to no games being released between now and June. You win by default eso.

It’s honestly astounding how 2/3 of the community seem totally unimpressed by the new DLC although it’s set in Skyrim.

That’s a pretty clear no from the community towards ZOS feature and creative laziness. It’s just sad because ESO is such a good game.

Not really. I find that people off the forum are more interested in Greymoor, and want to talk about what is going on. The people in the forum are too busy pissing on ZOS to even really pay attention to what is happening.

It's not the DLC itself, but more the apprehension about more inevitable nerfs that make no sense, more of the same bugs (stuck in combat, group finder, running on top of your mount, weapon between your feet, ad nauseum).... more of the same lags, crashes, and other performance issues.... more of the same hastily thrown together landscapes with myriads of chained up doors and blurry textures.... dungeons promised to be more difficult, which will result in less casual players caring or attempting, more group kicks by elite players who are anxious to hurry and finish so they can get that final boss only armor/furnishing plan they can sell for millions of gold.... more lore made up on the fly, dead heroes brought back as if nothing happened and retconning to trick players into thinking everything is logical.... and more cash grab marketing techniques and ad spam.

Other than that, I'm sure it will be amazing!

I am very excited but not as excited as I was for Elsweyr because I am a khajiit at heart so to see Elsweyr was extremely satisfying. My Nord is extremely pleased and so are my vampire and necromancer. I do look forward to revisiting Skyrim and the new content and fresh areas and quests and dungeons and the new antiquities sound great. I am also very curious as to what new homes and furnishings might be available.

Sigh. You reminded me that I have no Nord characters. Guess I had better get started with that. Or, I suppose I could use a Dark Elf and just run around complaining. Hmm.

I like the setting too. I wonder if Zos will use more sombre characters and not happy go lucky crap.
But at this stage too litle too late. A lot of players are not interested at all.

Having said all this, I dont see ESO ever declining. They have found their player base. They have to keep pretending that their care for performance and PvP/endgame, but they dont have to actually care.
It's just not a game for mmorpg players.

I am really hyped for it. Maybe not extremely but, yeah I had bought the chapter but then I realized ed the digital collectors upgrade was 49 dollars and I bought 85 for it and well that was a mistake and because of this going to have it refunded its pending and then buy the 49 dollar upgrade. As soon as the pending is over. That way I can spend the 30 something dollars I didn't needed to pay extra for crowns and other stuff like that. So still waiting for that and then I will repurchase the chapter.
