Don't try and leech xp from people farming in Craglorn, ESO's system works that if two people tag mobs they both get more xp, but as soon as a 3rd person does it it drops by a lot. So by tagging you're wasting your own plus their time. Now if a new player comes by and tag a couple of mobs, who cares. But there are these no lofe leechers in spell scar hoping to leech xp from farmers. These people are honestly they worst. I always craft stealth pots when going there to deal with these people and let them tank an entire pull alone. Some people go out of their way of course. I myself once said a few things to a leecher that I regret. But I can honestly understand the reaction. Noone is gaining from a leecher. It's pure sabotage.

I promise you most people are not leeching, just pushing by, and toxic players aggro at them. That's how it always happens to me. And because toxic people aggro out of nowhere like babies, I theeeen start to leech because I'm max CP and I don't care about exp. Only do it to *** toxic people off.

And liek you said so yourself... You've said some bad stuff.

Why? What led you to it? That is a public open zone and you have absolutely NO claim over anything there... Like I said before: if you want the experience just for yourself and your buddy, go to skyreach or whatever. Spellscar is public... That simple.

I said some bad stuff because they guy obviously followed us and tried to ruin our farming, which is a really annoying thing to do, so I told him to go away. I know it's a "public" Instance, it's also legal to go near a mother carrying a baby with your big Juul in public and try and send as much smoke in their direction as possible, But would you blame the mother for telling that person to go away? I am not saying I am entitled to anything, but sabotaging a duo of player obviously farming xp is never a "fair" thing to do. If someone passes by and kills a group of adds noone is going to care, but there are leechers in spell scar at almost all time jumping on to duos trying to leech as much xp from them as possible ruining it for both partys involved, and there is no sane argument defending people doing that.

How do you know it was on purpose? Because I assure you when people who spent their entire game questing/focussing on solo play, they don't know *** about leeching. They see it the same way as taking on world or public dungeon bosses with whoever is standing nearby. I'm not saying it's not possible, I just think people lock themselves in a specific mindset of assumption.

You can practically see Skyreach from there... Instanced, and plenty of XP if you're smart with your pulls. Fighters guild galore with all the dead. No intruders to worry about, just "The Greatest Swordsman who ever lived" carrying some Pecks with an acorn to grind.

Only time I ever see any form of "bullying" is a mid cp level person talking down to under 50's in a normal dungeon.
Because they're higher level they think they know everything and treat others like they're ***

If it happens, add them to ignore list or just let chat window fade out. Overland and Cyrodyll is open content. Any enemy is fair game all the time no matter what someone thinks how it should be done. Few exceptions:

-In Overland if someone is fighting something right next to a chest or farm node, it's polite to let them get it afterwards
-There's some ZoS and social norms in Cyro but that's complicated and ever-changing.

Owning content to yourself is found in closed instances.

It's not just noobs that get bullied here actually. One of my friends is a CP810 who created new character to level up during the exp event. So he went to spellscar to farm exp. And guess what, some of these elite players are rude to him telling him to get out, lol. So, basically bullies will be bullies no matter where they are, haha.

Fortunately, I can't be bullied by them because they have no power over me since we are in a video game wandering around Craglorn. I suppose they could stalk me. They can harass me. But bullying me would require me to be intimidated or to feel I need to change my behavior due to their attempts to intimidate. So they can TRY to bully me, but they can't bully me. Just the fact that I can block them makes them pretty powerless in-game.

Or have me changed the definition of bullying to include all rude behavior toward us? Are we now calling things bullying that don't involve any sort of power imbalance?

Just because u're in a video game, doesn't mean you have no feelings IRL. You might not be intimated by them, but some others will be. Blocking them only makes their messages disappear, they can still come be toxic while u're just farming and minding ur business.

Actually yes, power imbalance is a type of bullying, look it up. And bullying doesn't have to only involve physical attacks. Words hurt more than swords, there's a truth in that.

Bullying is a good thing. It teaches ppl how to react to negativity and how to deal with adversity. Not everyone is going to be nice to you regardless of how many rules you put into place.
[removed for inappropriate comment] and go about your business. If they continue to harass you, report them, and go about your business.

While your advice re how to deal with bullying is helpful, the notion that being bullied has any redeeming pedagogical benefit is 100% wrong.

There is no excuse for bullying and it has no merits whatsoever.

No matter how annoying other players are, there's no reason to treat them like garbage. This goes for people on both sides of the fence, since being a petty pest to someone who already perceives you as a threat to their activity is just as childish as them lashing out in the first place.

Seriously, it's so much easier to say "Shut up, I'm only passing through" than intentionally doing what you're accused of doing, thereby making them twice as aggressive toward innocent bystanders in the future. Its also much easier to say, "Trying to farm here, please join group or leave us to it" when someone is, ignorantly or not, interrupting your grind rotation. The latter happens to me in public dungeons all the time, especially the ones in Deshaan and Rivenspire, because MS, Plague Doc, and Necro staves are currently a hot commodity.

...Of course if we had solo instances, literally none of this would ever be a problem. Just saying. It'd be nice.

Yeah, I've run into someone like that, in Craglorn

Interesting thing was, I whispered him saying "Were you talking to me?" and he didn't even answer.

Edit: Didn't realise it was a bumped thread, sorry for (more-or-less) repeating myself.

Usually i get bullied by noobs, so the universe reverts itself to balance, i think. o:)

Not really, if it's always the same people bullying.

We can (almost) all lose our tempers, if someone appears to be being selfish, or whatever, but picking on people just because you assume they are new is not OK.

In fact, as soon as you think "This person is probably new." (or words to that effect) that is precisely when you should try to keep quiet and regain your composure, however annoyed you might be.

I hit up Craglorn a lot, whether for crafting surveys, or to farm Nirncrux, or both.
I pull mobs or throw AoEs down usually only if they cross my path (there's a couple surveys right around Spellscar), but if someone tries to chew me out for it, then I will do it very deliberately, and possibly even go out of my way to pull them.
and I'm just like "sorry boddy. you don't own the mobs, and you don't own this place."
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

ZOS’s standard response of insisting you ‘ignore’ them is not acceptable either.

This. ZO$ is basically saying that it's okay for people to say whatever they want to others, so long as they can't see it. What happens when the limited ignore list gets full ZO$? It's absolutely stupid to tell people they can solve their issues by ignoring people. IF ZO$ would crackdown more on ingame harassment, trash talking and hate tells like they do on these forums, there would be less people doing it. But people do it because they know there is very little chance of them getting any kind of punishment.

Delete old people from ignore list. Chances are they don't even remember who you are. Even the trolliest of trolls/bully will move on if they don't get a response. After that, they can be removed from ignore and you'll be safe and in peace, pretty much guaranteed.

If I'm traipsing through Craiglorn and I see a fight I might join in to help if the person gets mad then they are an ingrate that's on them I wasn't after the exp just trying to help if i just stood there i think i'd be the rude one.

People get super protective of their Spellscar XP. :D When my friend and I were wee noobs we didnt know what anything was or meant, we were just simple questers exploring, trying to kill anything we saw. Got insulted to hell and back for leeching, without ever understanding what it was. People get themselves into a mindset where they assume the worst intentions in people. Any community will have its idiots. I'd delight in the fact that their willingness to explain anything to you means that they keep having their farm *** up.

I've had that happen once in an area of the game that wasn't even common "farming" spots. They made incorrect assumptions about why I was there and what I was doing and proceeded to act like jerks towards me.

I responded by then deliberately screwing up their runs for a few minutes before getting back to my usual storytelling and questing.

We really need to bring that philosophy back.

No, we don't. It's a nonsensical lie that utterly trivializes the power of words - which is often far, far more significant than sticks and stones. It is the motto of sociopaths to disregard how their words impact those around them.

Well, in the end it's all up to you and your mindset.
If you're in right mindset words from a complete stranger should never hurt you.
I actually find them very entertaining sometimes, as a mater of fact, the worse the insults, more intrigued i become, because i try to psychoanalyse the mind behind those words. I end up making my self laugh 99% of the time.
That said, it is still wrong because it prays on the weak, on the kids who take those words way to close to the hearth, ppl who shouldn't have been it that environment to begin with.
World is full of sociopaths and overall walking scum. If you allow their words to get to you, you already lost, specially if it's some random stranger half world away.

Every time I have the one Craglorn enchanter survey, I have to dodge not only the farm groups, but the mobs they don't pull. A lot of days, if I get there and there are three different groups of however many, I just go away and hope for later. I don't know if any of them have ever said anything to me, as I never have chat open (and most of the time I don't notice the flashing highlight that someone is whispering me.... I'm.... hmm.... oblivious I guess). But if they have, well, they didn't get a rise so *shrug*.

I've actually never been bullied in a game. My family? Yeah. My bosses over the years? Hell yeah. That's about it. Family I have honestly put mostly on ignore (though the worst one was my mother, who's long dead now). And I retired for the third time in 2005, so no more bosses. Thick skin? Yep. Elephant.

Yes bullying is wrong but after 6000 years of human development that is not going to change, nor the best way to deal with it which is to ignore it when possible or punch the bully in the nose if absolutely necessary (ignoring it is still the best option though).
