Because Fengrush's 400 actual viewers who already play ESO aren't gonna bring ZOS new players = money

Well, he’s famous now, from other games not eso. But if ninja the Fortnite player gonna show up on eso event, it’ll attract more people to wanna go, despite he plays eso or not. Same logic imo.
Can ZOS afford ninja to come, prob not, but sypher yea, not impossible

ZoS has had Superbowl commercials in the past...they could pony up but would it be worth it for someone famous playing a game that is not theirs? Seems like bad marketing 101...know your audience.

If they bring in more players to the game and into the specific content you enjoy, why is that a bad thing?

Anyone know why? A PvP streamer who finally gave up on ESO PvP a long time ago and has been very successfully streaming not-ESO for a long time? Are they gonna shove Deltia out on the stage as well and say "Remember him? He used to like us too"? If there's going to be a streamer representing PvP (which maybe I'm just assuming that's what this is) shouldn't it be someone who streams the game and plays PvP?

Weird, weird guest at an Elder Scrolls event. Great gamer, great streamer, but he doesn't do either in ESO.

    Salt.

All of you guys writing "Who" just show everyone that you haven't been around in this game for very long. Sypher is one of the best PvP players this game have had. He was also a great content creator and streamed a lot.

No salt at all. Especially not toward Sypher for doing it. It just seems strange to me to have someone who doesn't play the game there to hype the game.
Maybe there's a reason, and we'll find out Thursday.

Also, some of you seem to be under the impression that I'm angry about it. Probably because the default for everyone now a days is anger and internet bickering, but I'm not. I just don't get it. I mean, why not pay Asmongold to come hype ESO? He's got a huge following...doesn't really matter that he doesn't play ESO apparently.

If they are looking to get new people to the game it makes sense to get a popular non ESO streamer. It would be interesting to see actual numbers of new players a Non ESO streamer could actually bring to the game and even more interesting to see how long the recruits ended up actually playing ESO on average.

Sypher is the best known ESO streamer. Whether he plays ESO currently or not simply doesn´t matter if he can bring an audience of new players to ESO. What is the point of streaming ESO by an unknown streamer from the game. They stream almost every day but aren´t on level with Sypher. Any ESO player can tune in to watch current ESO streamers. Most of them I find boring and can´t do any talk except "zergers!!!, and other salt. PVE streamers an exception of this.

Yeah, he's a literal who for me as well.

With Deltia gone, the first PVPers that come to my mind are Dottz and Fengrush. But it's possible they can't make it to Vegas? I find it hard to think they weren't invited, so I can only imagine SypherPK is just the only guy who said yes.

Dottz is playing Apex right now and really doing well with it, he has taken a really positive approach to it and his content is thriving outside of ESO. He has stated he will keep the website up to date but won't return to ESO full time until some major changes happen with stability and server performance. As for Fengrush, he is as critical of the game as anyone(for good reason) so I don't exactly think that he is the type of person they want to be there for a big hype reveal(which sucks because I enjoy his critical commentary).

    As for Sypher, $$$$$.

@Sandman929 they may be looking for somebody who has experience in all game content. I'm pretty sure that wow guy hasn't done much on the pvp side of things.

Most of what I've seen him do is pve content. Though I dont follow him enough to be 100% certain of this.

Yeah, well... I like SypherPK and he's one of the players who contributed to the pre-1.6 NB playstyles so, it's very nice to see him back. Also, I believe it is a hint that we will see something PvP related.

    No that was Kodi.

Also Sypher is a safe choice for ESO as the had him do the pre event for last announcement too (and he brought over 30-50k viewers)

Just from the marketing standpoint I can see the reasoning. What's the point of inviting streamers already heavily invested into ESO? Their audience is already going to be interested anyway. On the other hand, inviting someone who has a lot of following but is not really focused on ESO is bound to put the game on the radar for a lot of people who weren't previously interested/aware.

What's the message when your favorite streamer comes back to that game he used to play years ago for one event and then never talks about it again. (Let alone when he explains why he left the game.)

With the ESO audience being larger than the Sypher audience, the number Sypher followers who stick with ESO afterwards might be smaller than the number of ESO players who follow their new favorite streamer's example and move on to other games.

I would still watch sypher for ESO streams, he was genuinly good at the game and entertaining. Haven't found a streamer I've liked since that plays ESO that is entertaining and good at PvP. Can't stand fortnite though so had to unfollow him which means I never know when he streams ESO.

I don't think inviting/hiring Sypher is necessarily a bad move, think of it like sports teams who have retired players do event stuff even if they don't play or are involved in the game any longer.

I believe the reason it's a bad look for ESO is because they're doing this combined with the fact they are notoriously known for not listening to their own community and accused of being out of touch with the same.

If ZOS had a good repertoire with their own community, bringing back Sypher might actually be viewed as something fun and as a positive. But in the current light it looks like a company who is so out of touch with their community, or so fearful of what an active player might have to say about the current state of things, that they paid for a personality to try to get a few thousand extra eyes on a game they'll pretend is in a wonderful place right now at this event.
