Automatic renewal cancellation - Legal terms

Despite all this, 30 days notice on a 30 day recurring contract is a bit cheeky.

The example Zos Kai gave was odd (to me at least) he set up an account on the 5th april and said if you cancel after May 5th 'say the 9th june' you would get billed for june.

Ive no problem with that as ive already passed into junes billable time surely?

but if you dont cancel by the 6th May you owe them Junes sub too

Basically ignoring the slight date fluctuations due to our odd number of days in months you need to cancel your sub pretty much before or on the day you pay for your next month or you're liable for the month after that too ?

How i read it its not much different from most subscriptions - magazines, cable tv and whatnot.

You are not paying after 30 days of game time, you are paying when the 30 days of game time start. - so prepaid gametime.

Meaning that if you start your subscription May 4th you need to cancel it before that point but you will then be able to play until June 4th. so yes you need to pay 1 month.

So in essence if you forget to cancel yes, it will require another month of sub, but you will not be locked out of the game, you will just have another month's worth of gametime...

It's pretty much the norm if you subscribe to things... Perhaps the "young" people aren't used to it but i see this all the time managing the household economy...

However look at the cable companies or ISP's... they often operate with 90 days of termination time and not 30.

In worst case you need to play another month before you put the game on a shelf...

It works like every other subscription game. Cancel before you run out of your current 30 days. There is nothing new here, move along people.

Only if you dont want want to play anymore :) I'm not thinking about quitting just yet and to be honest if i do quit and get billed an extra month its what i agreed to so no big deal.

I only posted because the thread caught my interest. Ive been mooching around the forums since yesterdays patch bacause i cant play anymore
    thanks to the patch/launcher issues.

Back offshore tomorrow so ESO has been a bust for my last 3 days off sadly

If you quit now, you will not be billed an extra month. Say you started on april 4th, april 4th to may4th is your free 30 days. Cancel on may 3rd, no charge. Cancel on may 5th, and you are charged and account is still active until june 3rd.

    Nothing new.

    I'd like clarification on something.

I paid for a 6 month sub (sorry, but I'm VERY happy with the game, despite the bugs. Please don't rag on me.)

If I cancel at the 4 month mark - will I still get to use up my 2 months? Or will it cancel my account right then and there?

The way I understand it is I should get my 2 months of play still plus 30 days free time on the end of it.

    Can someone let me know?

You will finish out your 6 months then your account will become deactivated, until you sub again. (now mind you the sub does not start until after the first free 30 days.) You have not bought it yet.

We would like to clear up some misinformation on the forums regarding cancellation of recurring subscriptions.

If you selected a recurring subscription payment method – such as a credit card – your card will not be charged until your 30 days of access included with the purchase of the game expire. If you cancel your subscription at any time before the expiration of your included 30 days, your card will not be charged.

Some forum users have noted language in the Terms of Service (TOS) requiring users to cancel 30 days prior to the end of the current subscription period in order to avoid continuing charges. However, the TOS also provide that a specific web service – such as ESO – can have different terms that will apply to that service. In the case of ESO, as clearly stated in the ESO store pages, you can cancel your subscription at any time.

So for someone who activated a 30-day recurring subscription plan on April 5:
    • You will have 30 days of gameplay included with purchase of the game and you will not be charged for a subscription payment until May 5, immediately upon expiration of the 30 days.
    • If you cancel your subscription at any time prior to May 5, you will not be charged for a subscription payment. You will continue to have access to the game until expiration of your 30 days included gameplay.
    • If you cancel your subscription after May 5, say on June 9, you will be charged for the May and June 30-day billing cycles. After that you will not be charged for a subscription payment. You will continue to have access to the game until expiration of your 30-day June billing cycle.

We look forward to seeing you in Tamriel!

Read the thread before you post in it. @Citraka

I did read it, what didnt engage in my head was this

"However, the TOS also provide that a specific web service – such as ESO – can have different terms that will apply to that service. In the case of ESO, as clearly stated in the ESO store pages, you can cancel your subscription at any time."

So the TOS states a minimum of 30 days notice to cancel, but allows for different terms, that are then given on the ESO store page.

It would have been more constructive to have actually said what you saw wrong with my comment rather than quoting the entire text btw.
