why are people trying to make the next chapter about skyrim?

Tbh. I don't have anything against Skyrim in ESO, but, I simply had this thought recently:

ESO servers, despite numerous optimizations & fixes are kinda overloaded in pick-hours. This is Especially noticeable on EU Servers as those servers simply have to handle way more players than NA servers. (ZOS said it themselves). And of course, we also have cancelled events - PvP Midyear Mayhem and PvE Undaunted event.

What I simply fear is: Skyrim = Nostalgia. It will attract a lot of new player for sure. More player = even more server load...
Yikes !

So well, if they don't invest in better servers that can handle larger amounts of player... well... it is gonna end badly...

Personally, it's been about 7 years since I played Skyrim. I don't want to play another Single Player game, I find them kind of boring. It's at the point now where this would be nostalgic to me, despite it being the current ES Game.

IF helgen is part of the chapter i can see new character start in prison there

I could see them add falkreath sometime in the future
If you take the cart in craglorn/ dunjeon finder you get the undersiege version if you walk there you get a post siege version
i would see it as part of a future Markath(probably just butchered that name) chapter as a minor town with sidequest

I could see a story line about the falmer starting to appear in dwemer ruin around skyrim and a part of the story line would explain why there isnt any falmer in other ruin in eastmarch or riften
They could go for year of the falmer if they go in that dirrection

Issue I see is this, people will go there expecting skyrim from the single player game. They wont get that this is WAY before then so most if the cities wont exist.

Assuming the Chapter zone covers the area where Falkreath would be, you'd probably be able to go to the Falkreath area, but you won't be able to go into it, as it is presently under siege.

The DLC Dungeon Falkreath Hold would be moved from the Craglorn eastern door to the actual location of Falkreath. Just like the latest DLC dungeon does not require ownership of Elsweyr chapter to enter the dungeon.

Similar to how Sunhold was not a city in Summerset, it was a public dungeon. Also Orcrest in Elsweyr was not a city, but a public dungeon. I expect Falkreath to have a presence, but you cannot enter it like you would a normal city.

The chapter could simply be Norther Skyrim, in which case, we won't see Falkreath until later.

Also the fact that it would be a past version of Skyrim, which could be very different. 1000 years of difference. Since Skyrim the game is technically in the future. So there's a lot they could do with a past version of Skyrim.

If it's Skyrim I just hope we get a place with blizzard storms and huge snow peak mountains we could go on top. I still haven't played Skyrim xD And I hope the snow looks better and less plastic like than Eastmarch..

ESO can have Skyrim in it without it being Skyrim from TES5, just like it has Vvardenfell in it without it being Vvardenfell from TES3. Different time, different events, differences in the cities, etc.

Why? Because many start to play ESO thinking this is Skyrim Online....

An image release months ago gave them hope.

Several, what some might call, "hints" on the last dlc given them even more hope.

We're not trying to make the next chapter Skyrim.

Nobody is trying because that decision is out of our hands. (As it should be)

ZOS will have decided long ago where the chapter will be set. Honestly it's not beyond reason to suspect they had the plot for next year's chapter decided years ago. Possibly even when the game only just came out.

The only "trying" I see is from people who, for some weird reason, take great offence to the notion of ESO going to a long established location in the TES universe.

Can someone explain to me why a chapter set in Skyrim would be bad? It honestly boggles me. I mean at the end of the day... Skyrim was always there. It's there right now in lore-speak. You guys do understand that Skyrim does not mean the TESV quest-line will be cloned, right?

My reason for not wanting it now is the same as @Tommy_The_Gun's, performance. I would much rather they do something else until they were sure those performance fixes they're working on actually did what they were supposed to before rolling out Skyrim. Because a Skyrim expansion would mean a massive influx of new and returning players wanting to see it. EU server is still wonky, Activity Finder still isn't working properly and is threatening to burn down the server at peak population times and apparently pvp is... um yeah, we all know that.
So my concern is that the servers, and not just PC/EU, won't be able to handle the added pressure as they are right now and we have no proof, and personally I have little confidence, that they'll burn down completely. That's why I don't want them to do Skyrim next year.

That right there is a solid, logical, and respectable answer.

Yes, technical concerns are very important to consider and Skyrim is the proverbial flame for the moths.

Certainly, I agree with your answer. What I don't agree with is the mindless "But we had TESV already".

skyrim fans have been bangin that drum forever. it just so happens they're probably right this time (supposedly from in-game references and data mining).

Not my cup of tea, but it would be good for the population. although more population is bad for the servers.

Of course first thing to do is to install bunch of mods to make a single player TES game playable and beautiful. I expect next one will place monetization over free moddability and for that reason alone be not worth bothering with at all.
