why are people trying to make the next chapter about skyrim?

seems every year there's people trying to make every new dlc or chapter into skyrim. why?
they milked it for every penny, the bloody thing has gotten so stale now.
it would be so much better to have something new and original instead of the same old crap.

Because 1. there are huge swathes of map attributed to Skyrim that haven't been unlocked in this game, and 2. big hints dropped in the last DLC

Because of the many clues and hints from 2019 content that points toward Skyrim plus some datamined things that appear to support this conclusion. As covered in many threads. While some want it to be Skyrim, others simply think the evidence is leaning that way.

There are hints all over the place in-game now, and they're not subtle (but ifc I can't remember any of them off the top of my head...).

I don't want ESO Skyrim either- Skyrim is one of my favorite games of all time and I just want it left alone.

As for its inclusion... probably pandering to fans as a means of distraction from the fact that it's been eight years since a TES installment came out and it still appears to be years away. Continue to milk Skyrim dry...

It's part of Tamriel, so it's got to happen sometime. It's the opposite side of the continent from the last chapter. The only real question is whether it's the Eastern or Western half of the current gap between Pact and Covenant. The three Alliance territories will remain separated right up the end, or the two-way borders would be a problem, but the gaps will get smaller as zones are filled in.

It's not so much "people trying to make the next chapter about Skyrim" (since we, as players, don't get to make that decision) and more about "the next chapter is clearly Skyrim" and so people are discussing it as they would anything.

It’s not that we trying to force Zos to make Skyrim the next chapter. It’s that Skyrim is the most logical place to have the next chapter in, as well as the numerous hints and datamined Crown Crate info leaning towards it. Skyrim in ESO would be different than the game Skyrim, as it’s set 1000 years beforehand.

I don't mind the idea of a chapter set in Skyrim, because eventually I want all of Tamriel in the game and Skyrim (along with Hammerfell, Blackmarsh and Cyrodiil) is one of the provinces currently missing a huge chunk of it's space.

But I really hope they don't do what they did with Morrowind where the promotion and even the map design was really milking the nostalgia factor for all it was worth and made the entire thing sound like a half-hearted re-hash of an old game for the sake of cashing in on players who first encountered The Elder Scrolls through the original. Thankfully the actual chapter wasn't that bad, they did in some places acknowledge that ESO is set hundreds of years earlier and things will be different and the story was generally original, but the marketing really turned me off the whole idea.

If/when they do have a chapter (or DLC) set in Skyrim I hope they focus more on what's going to be different about it in the Second Era and the storyline of the new release rather than trying to make it look as much as possible like a repeat of an existing game.

Because the eu server is dead but they plan on getting some fixes in (soon) so the hype from skyrim will make people come back and stay hopefully for a working game.

Honestly? Age and the last game played.
For me personally, Morrowind was what I was looking forward to mostly because I liked it more than Skyrim or oblivion.
For people who've only played Oblivion and Skyrim I can easily see where the hype comes from.

The current office bet says blackreach though. An underground zone is ambitious and stunning done right.

Looking forward to finding out what next year has in store for us regardless of where we're going. That said, I would like to see more of skyrim in this era. Especially after seeing a lot more detail has gone into chapers than base zones( aesthetically).

    I can't remember.

Did players throw a fit when Morrowind was announced? I mean, that was some of the "same old crap".

I mean, if it's in Tamriel, there's a good chance well see something in ESO, since ESO is in all parts of Tamriel.
    🤷‍♂️

My biggest complaint about Morrowind was the nerfs to sustain that were included with it... The content itself was ok.

As long as the story with Skyrim is on the level of Wrothgar story writing, and there aren't huge combat changes then I will be really happy.
    Playing since beta...

Honestly I say stop putting more ep and ad zones in the dlc's. We haven't seen any new DC zones since Orsinium. More than half of southern Hammerfell is blank, unexplored space. All we have is Craglorn, Ali'kir, 1/3 of Bangkorai, and Hew's Bane. All of AD is explored at this point, so we really can't see anything new there. So that leaves More of EP and DC. While EP has a lot more unexplored space along 3 provinces, DC hasn't seen any new content in 4 years.

not a huge fit when announced though some people were not happy about the introduction of a new class or that it wasn't called Vvardenfell, etc... but there were those who after playing it felt the implementation of Morrowind was underwhelming and over-reliant on nostalgia

not counting opinions about combat systems and the like, that was the most substantial negative reaction i recall from that chapter (and of course it wasn't a universal sentiment)

i've seen worries that something similar might happen with a Skyrim-themed expansion, but given how much about next year is just speculation it's definitely a wait and see

Yes, it looks like the next Chapter will be located somewhere in Skyrim. It might even be called ESO:Skyrim. But, that's about all it's going to have in common with TES V.

    There will be:

    No cart ride to Helgen.
No Dragonborn, and no collecting Dragon Souls or Dragon Shouts.
    No Alduin.
No Empire v Stormcloak civil war.
    No Thalmor and no Talos.
No Thieves quests, no DB sanctuary and no Nightingales (but there will be a Mages Guild and Fighters Guild presence).
No clunky, feature-starved TES V combat and skills progression systems.
No suicidal companions jumping in front of the enemy.
    No battle-crazed horses.
    No strobing shadows and textures.
No mods to fix it all.

There won't be any Eastmarch, Rift or Falkreath in the new Chapter either, because they're already in ESO. And when you think about Eastmarch, The Rift and Falkreath in ESO, what exactly do they have in common with the Eastmarch, Rift and Falkreath that were in TESV? Very little indeed.

[snip] The playable content in the next ESO chapter is going to feel very new, although some of the snow and perhaps a few of the major buildings may look familiar.

    Minor edit for bait.

I can’t think of anything more tedious than replaying the highs and lows of another game.

If you want Skyrim, there’s only one place to go - the actual Skyrim game.

I cannot see the point of wanting ESO to be Skyrim. ZOS would simply be on a loser. With no ES6 in sight, Skyrim remains the latest single player game. You’re either going to produce something better, which will diminish sales of Skyrim, or it fails to live up to Skyrim and the ‘fans’ go all negative about it. In neither situation is ZOS going to come out smiling.

Boring treks to see the snow elves? No thanks.

of they make it diffrent, and not a cookie cutter verison of it with more bloody dragons, and not jsut the same old boring story, It'd be worth it.
but people insisting the next chapter is skyrim for the past 2 years is getting tedious.

Not quite interested in a Skyrim chapter... Maybe a Hammerfell chapter or the Gold Coast would be OK... Although a Solstheim chapter could be something I would like to see.
