Confessions of a Dunmer Hater

    So Much hate ...

Ignore the petty N'wahs that infest our lands. We will rise up and destroy them, soon enough....

...when? You're scheduled to have your teeth kicked in at the end of the Second Era. After that, you're scheduled to be melted early in the Fourth Era.
And then we recoup, drive the lizard-beasts out of our lands, House Hlaalu gets their comeuppance as the military-N'wah-loving betrayers that they are, and we formally declare ourselves separate of the military-N'wah "empire", to which they don't have the military support to refute.

Morrowind is busy rebuilding, with House Sadras filling the void that (now minor) House Hlaalu leaves. The Telvanni survive, House Dres survives just fine, etc., etc.

We Dunmer will not be kept down!

Not from my cozy tower in Port Telvannis

Given that Sadrith Mora was flash fried, I can't imagine things were that cheery on the Telvanni Islands after Red Mountain went nuclear.

Well, in Skyrim, Master Neloth states that the Telvanni still have holdings in Vvardenfell, which would indicate otherwise. Either way, it is unlikely that Port Telvannis received anything more than a bit of ash.

Granted, it's been awhile, but I could have sworn there was throwaway dialog in Windhelm about the Red Year seriously messing up the mainland in addition to Vvardenfell. Regardless, it's pretty clear Morrowind is not in a good state in 4e202.
    It did.

The destruction of Vivec and the ensuing invasion by the mindless lizard-beasts does put a hurt on us. But under House Sadras and House Dres, we Dunmer recoup, drive the lizard-beasts from our lands, drive out the N'wah "empire, and start rebuilding.

We aren't in a good statye in 4E 202, but we're mounting a comeback, and move our capitol to Blacklight while the rebuilding continues. We are free of the N'wah "empire", and there's nothing that they can do about it.

With their own... issues with the N'wah "empire", the Nords and us call a tentative truce. We got Solstheim gives to us, and we will not interfere with the Nords driving out the N'wah empire, and they won't hit us while we're rebuilding. In fact, the Nords and the Dunmer sign a mutually beneficial peace/truce in the 4th Era.

It's all there in the Lore in Skyrim: Dragonborn.

Remember that it's just a game.

I would advise against bringing your real life experiences or beliefs into it too much.

Yes. I tend to avoid using the word 'hate' in any situation, especially with people. It gives a feeling of extremism and to me puts a person at the same level as the people they hate.

That settled it. The Lore has spoken. My desire for there to be a Dunmer that rejects the traditionalist Evils of her people to exist is backed by Canon. So now, even though I still cannot stand the majority of the Dark Elves, I now have one of my own.

Slavery is also considered an abomination among the Ashlander tribes, and they reject the Tribunal.

I still feel the same, though honestly my Dunmer has been a tumultuous addition to me roster. Created 3 times, deleted twice, all because i could never get that desire to play her. I already have 3 Khajiit and 2 Argonians for all 5 classes. My Dunmer feels, unnecessary. But as a character i still like her. A Progressive outcast of House Hlaalu with pale skin and silver eyes and hair. I love her look. I just dont see the point in having two DragonKnights, even if one is Stam and the other Mag.

Op you say the Khajiit are the most downtrodden race, but really that status clearly goes to the Orcs. Even their god Malacath is the daedric prince of the spurned and ostracized. 😛

Nonsense, lol. First of all, like all races/nations, dunmers are different and in TES there are 5 (6) houses + ashlanders + clockworkers and every subculture demonstrates different attitude. You don't like house Dres, it's ok, we all were killing them in TES3.. btw main slave hunter there was an argonian... yeah, argonians capture and sell argonian slaves to dunmers, like it was IRL during colonization era.. But other houses are multi-faceted and nor good nor evil.. just select one you like more. I always liked Indoril for example. I may play dunmer, bosmer, nord, redguard doesn't matter, I will always be member of house Indoril and ascendant/descendant of Nerevar.

Dunmers have most described and original lore in ESO... basically, you can't find similar race in other universes, which is already a great achievement. One of the key dunmers features is to keep going their own way... For anybody who values personal freedom, dunmers (as nation) is great example. They DGAF about Empire, Dominion, Dragons, Red Mountain explosion, pleasantries with other nations... they just continue to do what they always did - to fight for their own rights. I like it. Maybe it depends on everyone's personal life experience... if somebody was always pampered and lived in decent conditions, yeah khajiits may look like best example. Sun, purr and skooma what can be better? :D but for those who fight for what they want since they can remember themselves, dunmers fit better.

And it's all totally fine by Zeni. You can literally argue pro-slavery right here in the forums and its just... allowed? It will never not be weird to me.

Including your fellow Bosmer. Want some broccoli with that? :D

All the races have their jerk element, even the Khajiit master race (Pacrooti, I'm looking at you. Buy more crates my arse!)

My main, who is a high elf vampire, and has been my main in every game since Morrowind, tends to judge people as individuals rather than tarring all with one brush. If they act jerky towards him, he acts jerky back (then enslaves them into a life as cattle!).

I had a mod in Morrowind (and have used a similar one with him in Skyrim) where he could enslave those who attacked him - in Morrowind, I'd say the majority of his slaves were Dunmer. In Skyrim, most were Nords. :)

And he was utterly smitten by an Imperial warrior woman. :)

Seems like people have forgotten how Snow Elves been butchered and forced to live through the cruelty of turning into Falmer.

Seems like people also have forgotten how a so-called man-god forced his way into Summerset with a machine and butchered people living on their own and not wanting to be a part of his power-hungry empire.

Also consider the fact that they were forced to worship and revere the guy who butchered their people.

Tiber evil? He stopped Cyrodiil being a total lag fest when he became Talos by turning Cyrodiil from a vast jungle to pleasant meadows. Can you imagine the fps drops and lag if we were fighting in a jungle with all those shadows and effects to render?

Yeah yeah i know, implying Cyrodiil is not laggy, but just think how much worse it could of been. He is a hero!

I went through a somewhat similar process when I made my first Dunmer alt, and I also settled on House Hlaalu. (However, mine is a NB.)

My backstory for my character-- as Morrowind was the latest chapter at the time-- was that she was the spoiled daughter of House Hlaalu diplomats to Cyrodiil. She was born and raised there, so she has very little firsthand experience with her own culture, which is why everyone on Vvardenfell still refers to her as an outlander. But when the Imperial City fell, her parents put her on the first boat back home; unfortunately, she ran into that nasty gang of slavers on the way back. But then she met Naryu, and as someone who was obsessed with tales of the Morag Tong as a child, naturally she is obsessed with doing everything possible to find a way to join the MT (even though sadly that isn't possible in-game). So due to her distant upbringing, she has sort of a blend of being obsessed with diving into everything she can about her family's home and culture, while maintaining a healthy disdain/skepticism about the unsavory elements like slavery. Plus a touch of Dunmer arrogance in the form of pride in the House and family name.

I just recently started a new alt, and my backstory for her is that she's an Ashlander, which is another way of creating a Dunmer character who neither believes in the living gods nor engages in slavery.

My toon ( yes i only have one i use ) is a dunmer, and I just role play that she hates slavery, and was born in the college of winterhold, grew up there and was traveling to vardenfell to visit. She joins AD because its leader is the smallest ass, Obv. in skyrim my character had a much different backstory.

    Done. =P

    No racism
    No xenophobia
    No slavery
    Multicultural upbringing

No, that was the nords that did that.

No, the Dwemer were responsible for twisting them into their goblin-eque evil forms through enslavement and torture.
Many of the ancient Snow Elves were betrayed in a deal for asylum they struck with the Dwemer. The Dwemer forced their wards to subsist only on toxic fungi which twisted them into sightless slaves.
