Black Desert has an updated engine . The original engine was replaced by a revamped one.

So ZOS should look at what other companies do to improve their games.

    Greetings all,

After removing a handful of posts, we must remind everyone that Bashing is a violation of the rules that we have in place. When making threads/posts we ask that they be kept civil and constructive, as well as within the guidelines of the rules that we have in place. While having constructive opinions is allowed, and even encouraged, Bashing is not allowed. If there may be any questions in regards to the rules, please feel free to take a moment to review them here.

    Thank you for your understanding,
    -Greg-

you call it bashing. is that because you, and the rest of zos dont want to face the fact that we as your player base have grown sick and tired of the many problems that are plaguing this game? is this how you censor our complaints? call it bashing and wipe them clean because once again, you dont want to accept that your game in a very bad place right now?

Don't think it's his personal fault. He's just doing whatever the higherups want. You know, those guys that pay him and his bills?

They did not replace the engine. They updated their in house version.
ESO has done this too. It was called the "lighting update" as well as other updates.

It is not new to update elements of an engine. It is pretty much impossible to just replace them "easily".

Greg is a forum moderator. His job is to moderate. His law is the forum rules and the execution of them. He is not a dev.
Asking him to stop doing his job is kinda rude. If you want replies you have to get them from the community manager Gina or a rare developer/producer comment.

Native vulkan would be awesome. Build that from the ground up
I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

    BTW, I use arch too

The main problem is that in "modern times", gaming companies (including AAA ones) hire top developers and game designers from zero to until the game goes public. Then they fire the expensive developers and keep a skeletal, bare bones, as cheap as possible team.

Of course, there are consequences for that.

And there are good reasons for that. Creating a game and running/managing the same game over significant periods of time require very different skills and attract often very different kinds of people who excel at one but not the other. It’s not just a case of money.

The trick in switching from one mode (creating) to another (running/managing) is not to lose the collective knowledge of the game/system. And to maintain the values and identity the game had on creation, while being agile enough to roll with any changes that are needed.
