Question: When is $30 not $30?

Baragoon
Baragoon
Answer: When you buy from the Elder Scrolls Online Store of course!

Background: I upgraded my standard edition to the imperial edition via the ESO store and payed $30 via paypal. Everything was great...

...until I get my bank statement and find was actually charged $30.84!

Naturally I lodged a support ticket and the reply was:
Thank you for contacting us about this issue. at this time we are going to go ahead and give this over to a proper agent who will be able to address the issue further.

I am still waiting for a reply from said "proper agent".

Nope. The paypal invoice clearly states it as a $30 transaction with no fees.

I give you credit. .84c is not worth my time or effort... heck I would pay an extra dollar not to have to deal with it lol.
Dream it, wish it, do it... or something...

I even say in my support ticket that the 84c is insignificant. But it is the principle of the thing. and 84 cents times a few thousand who would have done the same thing is a nice little earner. Think Richard Prior in Superman 2 3*.

The transaction was in my local currency (AUD). So no that's not the reason either.

    *Thanks Thepal :)

Friends wouldn't sell you a bug riddled game (I also have a ticket in for missing gold and bank slots) and then have the hide to slap on a small commission without telling you.

It seems like you're assuming malicious intent, which I doubt is the case.

That would be highly illegal and a PR nightmare.

Zeni might be having a rough time with launch, but they're not going to start stealing money from consumers.

Almost sure it your bank charging you the 84 cents, its an over seas transaction. since Paypal says it only paid $30 its the bank charging you 84 cents to sent the money from Australia to the USA

I rang the bank first as that was my first instinct. They assure me it's not them..

Apologies for bumping an old thread. But I have just encountered the same situation. On my credit card statement, I see that I have been charged a foreign exchange fee of 0.54AUD. On the website, it explicitly states that we will be charged 15AUD. To me, this implied that it would be a local transaction.

I was just wondering whether you got anywhere with your investigation? My next approach would be to use a no-forex fee credit card to see if it is still the same issue.

54c is not a great deal, but this adds up to a significant amount having multiple accounts in the household.
We have contacted our Customer support team to help you solve your issue.

No not yet as I just received the statement and it is now outside business hours. But my statement does state that it is a foreign transaction fee.
