I agree with this 100%. After reading about how the beginning of the game used work, I felt a little cheated that I didn't experience the game like that, instead starting in Summerset.

I was confused AF about the main quest lines & how they tied in with everything else, and I had to use Google just to figure out the order that would make sense to play them in. I also wouldn't have even known about certain skill lines if I didn't do a Google search for "ESO skill lines."

The dang noob whipper snappers. Back when I started playing they just ripped out your soul, tossed you out of cold harbor into the ocean and said, “good luck.”

All these noobs running around with souls don’t know how good they got it!

Why not just have all new players (first character created) start in their Alliance City where the first NPC you see is for the "Talk To The Hooded Figure Quest" and just have a new tutorial tie into it (or put the original one back in). Then, after every other character they make (alt toons, and so one) THEN maybe make it start in the latest chapter or have the option to do the main quest again. Seems more logical that way and staves a lot of confusion about what to do when you start the game.

Most new players (including myself when I was new) don't even know about the main quest because of being pushed into the latest chapter with no idea of what the story is and why some NPC's say their soul was taken lol. Just putting it in your journal as "Main Quest" is pretty weird to be honest, and most have no clue what the hell to do when they first start. The main quest introduced initially to a new account/first toon just makes a lot more sense.

after the tutorial - a notification could appear on the player screen letting them know that they can access the latest chapter in the 'Collections' menu.
it would tell the player to open collections and show them where it all is and make sure to tell them that it is an option to activate the add on content. This would be after the player had experienced escaping Coldharbour

take your sensical logic and [snip]

Using letters G T and O with the first letter of the curse word in between, that’s minor profanity?

    seriously?

I think outlining the main story arc in the zone guide and reverting back to the original tutorial with the follow-up tutorials as zone quests is a good idea.

"The Vestige" storyline really does serve as the storyline foundation for so many things, including the other characters we meet again and again in the DLC content.

another option would have to have the current DLC tutorials done at the moment we actually enter the new zones, like an introduction to the zone, more than a tutorial.
that or give options to players, while still reccomending the coldharbour to new players.
