I just want this theme at the opening screen-

The newer stuff is all right but that theme always got me pumped to play the game.

The problem is a little more complicated than just the starting quest, because from the moment you set foot in the game you have the various characters who give out the various prologue quests, which means you can do the prologues out of order. If you want to do the content in proper order, you have to be careful to skip the prologues until it's time to do them.

And is it okay to visit Summerset right away so you can grab Jewelry certification and start doing Jewelry crafting writs, or is it better to wait until after you've done the Summerset prologue? Keep in mind, you can start Jewelry crafting as soon as you come upon a Jewelry crafting station, so avoiding Summerset for reasons of immersion until later in the game just means not being able to do Jewelry crafting writs.

And then there are the events that go on throughout the year, many of them based in DLC zones or chapter zones. Should you avoid participating in an event on a given character if that character hasn't yet reached the point in the proper sequence of the content where they've discovered that zone?

    Completely disagree.

IMHO Wailing Prison is NOT a 'fantastic beginning'. Starting in a cell where yu don't know WHY or HOW you got there is ridiculous. You get told later Manimarco murdered you, but you Don't have any idea How or Why this was done.

The new starts allow you to Begin the whole Main questline with a sense of logic and continuity. You get Lured into the trap and then everything from that point makes sense. There is a completeness and Logic to everything.

IMHO Leave things as they are.

If I buy Elsweyr or Dragonhold, and come into ESO that way, why on earth would I want to start a story that’s at least 3 years out of date?

A questline that has the single worst tutorial in the game. It teaches you nothing about the game mechanics, does nothing to reinforce basic player behaviour, provides no feedback and no opportunity to review progress and adapt (which does make it only slightly worse than the Summerset or Elsweyr ones). A questline that doesn’t even mention dragons in its many, many hours of gameplay.

It might be ‘proper’ in terms of the timeline, but it’s not really relevant to new players.

Giving players a prompt at the end of character creation on where they would like to start with a list of starting points would go a long way for new players. Let them choose where they wish to begin their adventures. Don't force them into new content.

I'd love to choose between the three beginnings when creating a new character, or even if it randomly rolled one of the three.

    This.

This is a excellent solution. It is excellent for both the completely new and the old players.

There should be an option when you create a new character, as a last step in the character creation, before you click final create button to have an option selection, with option to choose how would you like to experience to story, from the beginning or to start fro the latest expansion. So you click at any of those two and you start from there.

For new players it is self explanatory why it is good. They can start from the beginning and go through the story, and old players will have the option to skip it and jump to latest content.

This is good, Devs see this.

They should have an option for which start you want to do. Also, some way to skip the Prophet's long winded yapping.

The whole point of the Elder Scrolls games is that you start as a prisoner. By changing this when they added chapters, then they are moving away from the franchise, which for long time players, can be a shame.

Previous Elder Scroll games never explained how you got captured or what led up to it. That part was up to your imagination.
Starting out as a Prisoner is a staple of the Elder Scrolls franchise

Now I know I resurrected this thread but I presented a good solution

I just want the old theme song to play again it was the best when starting the game. Or at least give us the option to select a sound track, maybe make it an ESO Plus thing

The game started in The Wailing Prison. It is a fantastic beginning. It is awesome storytelling that really sets up the game. Kudos to the ones who created the original start.

You can literally still do the wailing prison. All you do is skip tutorial to skip the DLC intro, then you'll instantly get a quest to talk to a Hooded figure... which then leads into the old intro within 3 seconds....

The original "classic" version of the Wailing Prison intro was awesome. You had no clue what had happened to you. You wake up in a strange cave and the game goes from there.... no tutorial cues to pick this or that up or overly suggestive cues what to do next. You literally have to figured most of it on your own. Definitely my fav start to a game, imo!

I have asked for this several times, but no one seems to be listening.

All the tutorials must be there, just give us the choice where to start a new character.

I agree with OP. I've been around Dec 2015, before One Tamriel was settled.

The game should always start on the Wailing Prison, it just makes more sense - if this is not possible, at least make it optional.
