[Private Worlds] Does this have potential in ESO?

The community has been asking for the ability to play in private worlds since before the launch of Fallout 76, and we’re very excited to announce that they are coming to the game with Fallout 1st. If you’re a Fallout 1st member, how you use your private world is completely up to you: Invite up to seven of your friends at a time (eight total people per private world) to join you in taking on the dangers of post-apocalyptic West Virginia, or play completely solo. All gameplay remains the same from Adventure Mode and all characters entering the Fallout 1st private worlds must be existing characters.
Only the owner of a private world is required to be a Fallout 1st member. Head into your private world, open your Social menu once you’re in-game, and start inviting your friends to kick off the party. You can also create a squad outside of your private world and then switch to it to bring everyone along at once. Should the owner of the private world leave, the world will still stay active as long as one other player in the world is a Fallout 1st member.

EDIT: It's NOT a private SERVER. It's more like being able to generate an overland instance that only allows you and a limited number of people you invite.

ADDENDUM:
It's not a new idea and it would solve a lot of issues:
- Don't want haters trolling your roleplay? Private Instance.
- Don't want cheaters in your Cyrodiil? Private Cyrodiil and invite only players or guilds who can be accountable.
- Delve or public dungeon too easy because of drive-by helpers? Private Instance.
- Tired of seeing a lore-breaking circus of gaudily dressed players in town all the time? Private Instance.
- Randos killing your quest boss before you even get close? Private Instance.

It's not a new idea even on ESO:

First of all, no, private worlds in ESO have zero potential. There's just no point to it.

Second, please, PLEASE tell me you didn't purchase that sub.

Third, the "private worlds" for Fallout 1st are fundamentally a sham. They are NOT what the community was asking for. I don't even have to play FO76 or look at their forums to know that. To say nothing of the fact that they are game breakingly broken, just like everything else associated with FO76. The way Bethesda decided to implement them was flawed right from the get go.

Imagine those that run bots having entire instances too themselves with no one to report them and no competition being able to run their groups of bots together gathering mats endlessly, then dumping them all on guild stores watch prices drop like a rock.

According to the article, it's live now on FO76. Is that how people are using them already? The subscription alone should be a deterrant but I don't know how much RMT is making.

Half the forum is spammed with server issues and now we get this suggestion of dedicating server space to private instances, I mean common...

No. Setting aside issues of whether it's at all feasible or not, I don't think it'd even work well in ESO without some major rebalancing. It can work fine in FO76 due to the fact that it's balanced around having a handful of players in a single world, but ESO is a fully fledged MMO balanced around having multiple thousands of players on at all times, building up the economy. Good luck acquiring any of the rarer gear or materials in a private server, even if you had a well sized guild on the server (200-300+ total members).

A full rebalance just wouldn't be feasible in an MMO, as it goes against the whole idea of being an MMO. And, even if they somehow merged both economies so you could purchase gear or materials from other players on the public server and transfer the items to your private server (or buy directly off of the private server from the public economy), I still don't think it'd be worth it, as you're taking away the whole social aspect of the game, which is the whole point of being an MMO.

I get that some people like how ESO does things, and would like to have a singleplayer option, whether it be for immersion's sake or whatever, but it's unfortunately just not going to happen. ESO is an MMO at heart, and Zenimax, for the most part, is anchored to ESO, for the time being, so your best bet is waiting for another developer to release a game similar in style to ESO, but singleplayer instead.

As I understand they are not really private and persistent worlds like the ones in age of Conan who is natural to compare it to.
In that game you also have house rules like not allow for attacking bases then none of the other group is online.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

They can't even figure out how to let more than 24 players into a player house so the odds against them doing something similar here are very high. I DO wish private servers with up to 100 players were possible. It'd be glorious. THAT I might be willing to pay for. But 7 players? No. No way.

Play on PTS for a week by yourself, it is close to a Private world experience. You'll quickly see why it's a VERY bad idea in an MMO. Also, please keep all Fallout 76 ideas FAR away from ESO, surely you have seen the track record of that game. It's not a success in anyway. Regardless if you like F76 or not, we do not need anything from that side of the fence to be mixed in with ESO which is a complete different game type and has enough of it's own problems as it is

Private worlds are a BIG NO vote from me.

There isn't really any advantage of it in ESO other than those who want to see no other players.

Fallout it has the benefits of not losing open world objectives or dealing with conflicts, ESO lacks those.

I remember the first time I stumbled across a dolmen by myself; late at night; not another player in sight nor in chat. Just sitting there crouched on a nearby bluff, watching wide-eyed. It instilled a sort of primal fear at the sound; the solitude; the loneliness. It was exhilarating!

Cut scene to years later on XBOX EU during prime time - and the same emptiness occurs... but it’s more sad than exhilarating now. :(

    Absolutely YES

This could be the solution to the ganker problem in IC.

    Even more yes.
No more bots or other players who grab a node or chest right before me.

Only if anything/everything a player collects in the "private world" is limited to that private world. There are too many ways to abuse a "private world". Even the people who would like a separate instance pve Cyrodiil/IC specify that no ap/telvar or skills earned by pvp be included.

No gathering tons of mats and dumping them in the shared world, for instance.

When you take into account that IC is a PVP AREA, there really isn't a "ganker problem". Yes, there are gankers. Yes, there are players with character built and geared for pvp that can totally wipe the flagstones with pve players who go there. However that is part of the game; if you want to avoid pvp gankers, don't go to Cyrodiil/IC.

The only way I could see this is if it had admin controls like Conan Exiles does. Resources, experience etc. Otherwise no, it's doomed to failure. A small population(or solo) would be more trouble than the cost probably. No bots does sound nice though.

I wouldn't mind something like this for solo questing and immersion for open world PvE. With the stipulation that loot does not transfer back to the main server. I doubt if there would be enough players that would subscribe for it to justify the expense of developing it though.

I can just imagine what a player would do with their own Imperial City instance if they could keep the loot...

Conan Exiles style private servers, that could hold up to 100 players, would be amazing. Of course, as others have already pointed out, you could not play your characters on such a server and then bring them into the general MMO server. It'd be a separate game entirely. And that would be GREAT. I'd dearly love having access to BOTH and would never expect for there to be any kind of crossover. Personally, I think this is the best future for multi-player games. Right now we have either/or; small offical servers and small private servers OR the big MMO experience where you have no control over who you play WITH. Give me the option for BOTH! Let me meet and get to know people in the big shared megaserver...and invite the players I really like to play on a private server now and again.
