I do. I play to be immersed in the setting, so I turn off ALL that stuff. I only wish I could turn off the giant shield effect when I'm blocking.

Lots of people use them in trials. Like, in vmol, when you're converting and the circle under your feet doesn't show up properly sometimes, the on screen text is useful to have.

Maybe that's why so many new players running it blow each other up, because their combat cues are turned off...

Is Combat Cues the addon that tells you went to block? I only have the tradding addons and combat metrics to practice and thats it.

I have been told to download it so I don't just die in Vet trials

It's not an addon, it's part of the game. It's that red area warning when a foe is going to do something nasty.

Combat Cues is not an addon. It's the base game's telegraph system. It's bewildering that the option to disable it is even there. Sure, go and disable it if you want your immersion in the overworld. But anyone who has it disabled in vet content is a fool that needs to be kicked.

    Turned them off day 1.
Nightblade enemies go invisible and you can still see the particles while they're charging their attack, allowing you to see them.
That's not easy, that's straight up lame.

Unfortunately, with a steady latency of 265 with higher spikes in dungeons and trials, I have to switch it on. The cue comes on time before the visual effects. For example, those poison plants in VMA are already exploded before the circle even starts growing for me so if the game didn't tell me, I wouldn't realise I was poisoned in time to run to the purge point.

I have them on but i barely pay attention to anything else but circles, charging animations and synergies that people keep forgetting to take and i have to go through just to get my resources back as a Tank.

Well combat cues are a base game feature that’s on by default so, you absolutely have used combat cues. They’re to make sure you don’t stand in stupid

I don’t think so. Many times the combat ques did not work.

For some time, you wouldn’t see your color and many times you wouldn’t get the converting message.

It still gets messed up if there’s a synergy to pop, it seems to override the conversion message.

The messages that say “hold r2 to Exploit” or “hold L2 and press x to dodge” are generally not necessary but helpful I guess.

I think there is a little difference between combat cues and combat text.

I generally think the numbers are pointless. Maybe if you’re rainman , you can count it all up real quick In your head, but they’re generally meaningless and somewhat broken.

There are three different settings for in-game combat information.

Active Combat Tips will tell you to "Press [something] to dodge" as well as notify you of certain mechanics (e.g., that you are being targeted by a Creeper in Cloudrest). The default setting is Automatic, which is supposed to notify you only if the game thinks you need it (e.g., if you're encountering something for the first time or if you fail to block something too many times in a row). It's probably best to just leave it on Automatic, as it generally ends up silencing itself.

Combat Text are the numbers that scroll by as you deal/take damage, heal, etc. You can disable these without issue.

Combat Cues are things like telegraphs. AoEs on the ground, etc. If you disable these, you're an idiot.

(These are all base-game features and are not a part of any addon.)

I’m a big fan of immersion and hate add-ons but if you try to PVP or do hard PVE content you’re a lunatic who shouldn’t be in a group.

If you want to turn them off just for you, have at it but there’s no way you should do anything even medium difficulty with other people where you don’t see the red areas not to stand in.

People are funny. Some act like they need enough stamina to dodge roll 15 straight times yet most things can be managed simply by strafing out of red circles. If you can’t see a red circle, good luck with that. You’d probably die multiple times just attacking a dragon with 15 other people.

Those who mentioned vet content are pretty hostile about it. Its only a neat little change, im not advocating everyone do it permanently. When i went into norm Sunspire i immediately recognized the need for cues.
