Haven't really noticed much of a difference to be honest.

That said, Star Wars the old republic, is releasing new story content soon, will be more active in ESO once I have finished it.

"less and less players" forum threads since 2015. With such logic there is probably only me left in this game.

Still same amount of people in Craglorn and any capitals especially primetime. If any event then it's zerged by players. And i didn't account PvP.

PC EU though, don't know about PC NA and consoles.

PCNA's fine. The dragon hunting parties dropped off the moment the event ended, but that's not a surprise, no tickets.

Does that account for the people who don't play through steam?

It doesn't, and threads like this have been happening since 2014 but for some reason people who start them always seem to think they got it right this time.

Compared to what please? In what time frame? And based on what symptoms? If you want to know "whats happening", could you phrase your question less vaguely? There's always fluctuation for different reasons.

zos may have fkd up a bunch of stuff I agree, but the reason why people are absent could be simply because they finally got a life, jobs etc... maybe some of you should try that some time, it's rly invigorating actually :D

Nope. If there were no issues unique to Steam it would be a valid metric to judge the overall population. However, Steam's login server experiences outages whenever someone looks at it funny, locking people out of the game, so, as a result, Steam does lose players (either by disconnecting their accounts or just straight up running them from the game.)

    Cyrodil performance

    U24
    Meta ping-pong fatigue

For me personally it started with Wrathstone update (First update of the new combat team LOL).
    - Racial rebalance took place in Wrathstone. 2 races became BIS, 2 races become useless, others were lucky I guess
(My main is an Argonian, need I say more ?).
    - Elsweyr - was supposed to be a patch focused on making Necromancer (new class) actually balanced and playable, but instead of that ZOS focused on nerfing a sorry, "removing redundancy" from Night Blade...
(My main is also a Night Blade, need I say more ?)
    - Next we had Scalebreaker and a huge Werewolf nerfs across the board. The nerfs were almost only based on ppl crying that WW kills them in low level BGs. ZOS did not cared about other game content (like 90% of content in fact), they ignored the feedback (WW feedback thread actually got longer by 2/3 LOL). I dont remember so many people saying stuff about WW, even compared to Wolfhunter DLC WW feedback...
(My main is also a Werewolf, and not just for passive or RP. I actually based my whole build around it, and ZOS made it useless).

In short, my personal experienced with the new combat team was:
    - 1st update they went for my race.
    - 2nd update they went for my class.
    - 3rd update they went for my playstyle & killed of the last bits of fun I had in this game.

I only pretty much log in to get daily login rewards and do daily crafting quests. PvE & PvP is dead for me.

I see it too. I will say that the housing community has stayed vibrant, and I think that's probably because they are constantly challenging their players with competitions. But in general, yes, it's feeling pretty dead.

Most of the 4 guilds I'm in have seen a good reduction in the amount of players on more of a hassle to do trials and daily dungeons than it used to.
Xbox One - NA GT: RebornV3x
I also play on PC from time to time but I just wanna be left alone on there so sorry.

Fallout 4 is taking up all my time atm. Playing a evil cannibal drug addict alcoholic raider who splits open heads with his axe first and asks questions later. Great fun. More fun than ESO. But I'll get the ESO bug again, I always do.

What 10 players in the guild that still play get mad at the crashing and bad performance and log off and go play Borderlands or BDO.

I'm a nightblade main. They took Surprise Attack and made it actually useful, instead of giving it a debuff the tank was already applying.

Citation for people who don't use Steam.

If I had to use Steam to play ESO, I wouldn't have ever started the game.

I believe there is a lot more players now. 5 guilds are busy, number of sales is up. Short queues on activity finder. Friends list is more active than ever.

Have to agree. Two of the guilds I am in have few people playing. Usually when I am online I see one or two others online in two of the four guilds I am in. Playing the game has dropped significantly over the past three weeks.

Some are in college, some are moving and setting up shop again (me and one other player) and the rest I really don't know. They just don't log on much anymore.

Could be all the drastic yo-yo changes from ZOS has finally taken it's toll.

As for me I am really sick of these drastic changes and gutting of my characters I spent five years building. I started playing other games in the mean time to take a break from ESO for a few weeks or maybe longer.

When the next update goes Live if the game isn't fun to play anymore then I will finally call it quits and move on.

I have been playing No Man's Sky lately and it's definitely a different kind of game. So far I'm enjoying it. Built my first base last night and got caught in a radioactive storm on some planet.

I do hope ZOS wakes up and fixes ESO. I'm not holding my breath though. I've seen how they have ignored so much feedback and input on the Forum for years.

We do not know if this is happening. What I do notice however is the decline in people who know to PVE properly.
But maybe we got kinda fed from march till june with the big increase of players because twitch streamers made the game populair. But in that exact same time we had troubles with the server remember? Group finder was broken the server maintenances took a full day sometime's longer. ZOS never really was ready for this and all those people are now 'elsweyr'.

Maybe with the new dlc we will get a increase again and then we will *** about how the group finder is broken once more etc.

Because the smaller server isn't capable of spinning up as many shards as the NA server. So each shard is more heavily populated on EU.

Same. I don't even have another game to play either. I'll likely just work on music more now. I can run multiple synths with their own effects all in realtime with few under runs, yet I cannot ride to a keep or stay at one for an AP tick.

If you have the opportunity to grow your skill in something like music, I would definitely not spend my time in this game or any game for that matter. Spending time in your craft will be much more lucrative for you in the future. This game will shut down someday and 100% of us here will have nothing to show for it. But if you hone your craft, you could set yourself up for life.
