i agree with th OP but i must not write my agrees in every thread, cause every player who uses this skill will say it is not overpowered and other will say it is. It will be an endless discussion, only after its getting nerfed or not the people see what the devs think.
For me it is overpowered cause no other class can get away so easily, but my opinion do not count.

"Chance" you say? Roughly what would you say the odds are of you escaping when all you want to do is escape? Be honest...Something being unbalanced in 1v1 does not imply that it is balanced in group play.0 -
Hadlis✭I actually think it's fine. If they are using you have already won and it's fun as hell to catch them which does happen. Though not orc's...their racial bonus makes it totally spamable. I agree with some of the posters, I would rather leave skills like this alone to see how they play out.0

UNCOMMITED means you did not engage the fight. If you stealthed at a distance, it is just as fair you got away if you did not commit. It is called escape.... it is meant to escape.
If you give up 1 of your active utility/dps/survivability options to use this yes you chose escape as your higher priority. You aren't wearing leather or heavy so you don't have the stealth regen, you don't have the physical mitigation, you're not healing with the power regen, you arn't DPSing, you are fleeing.
When I have it in and I commit to the fight, I don't get away. I get away if I did not commit to the fight. I've run down plenty of those in the same situation and killed them frantically trying to regen power to get away. When I catch them I don't have power to kill them outright, only trick them into using their Magica foolishly if possible, because it cost me tons of power to catch them, and now I'm alone too.

ludlam92eb17_ESOSoul ShrivenAs a Vet 2 Sorc who uses bolt escape i think its op against people below level 50 and those that are just bad at the game, but it's a vital part of the class because you're a glass cannon.
Against other Vets its 50/50 because unlike the lower levels they know how to play the game and have a variety of abilities from each skill line.
A level 50 templar, nightblade and DK have the abilities to easily kill a B.E sorc there just aren't enough level 50's yet.
I've used my friends account and find it easy to kill the B.E Sorc all it takes is a STUNNING ABILITY or SNARE.
I am a glass cannon Sorc and you die FAST against other level 50+. I use light armour otherwise the bolt escape wouldn't work due to mana drain.
The Bolt escape is for noobs i easily kill other sorcs because they have no idea what they're doing.
Do some research in the skills of the game and find a way to kill them.
I wouldn't be too concerned if you removed bolt escape from the game there are several other setups for Sorc's and there is one ability that springs to mind immediately
so do as you please.
It's too early to nerf yet, i look in guild chat and people just don't understand how to setup there characters its funny it really is.
I know for a fact Templars and DK's can just jump on someone kill them instantly and be tanky at the same time. I've seen V2+ DK's and templars take on 4-7 people by themselves.

That ability is basically identical to Bolt escape accept you can spam it for longer. If someone knows this ability and can note its name that would be awesome.0 -

Also in regards to one of your previous replies: Nerfing does not involve just nerfing damage, a severe hit to a sorcerors Magicka pool is a nerf. It's not the sorcs job to die just because you nerf-herders think you need an easy kill on everyone you come in contact with.
And if zos does begin nerfing sorcs to the point where they're just cannon fodder, it will be the beginning of end for TESO0 -

✭✭Honestly you don't know how to play the game. These "nerf skill x" threads almost always come from inexperienced players who are still learning.
If you think this skill needs to be nerfed, you have zero understanding of the meta-balance behind this game. There are plenty of counters to this skill.
Touching Bolt Escape in any way would ruin it.

In a game of large scale siege warfare based around the concept of resource management, persistent objectives, and no cool downs anywhere.....a player spends ALL their resource to get away...and USUALLY succeeds.
That doesn't even sound like a problem. Certainly doesn't sound unbalanced.
Bolt escapers aren't cheesing wins from you, stopping you from climbing your ranking ladder to double plus super legendary epeen status and getting the best gear. There is no mmr ladder at all to even speak of.
I will say this. I'm far from v10 and v10 gear. If super top end sorcs can usually get away and still have a chunk of gas in the tank, then maybe it's scaling should be altered a little bit. I would be really surprised, given soft caps, but I can't say for sure as I've never been there. It might even be that to get overcharged on max magicka, mp2 and enough magicka cost reduction to pull it off has a high enough opportunity cost that it's ok. I doubt you could have all that stuff and the potion cool down reduction glyphs, so that the same sorcerer has 100% uptime of spell crit pots. For example.
All I hear from these threads is that maybe the super op 5 skill layout you planned for yourself wasn't that op after all. You should plan for the world as it is, not as you wished it was. Seems like other can and are supposedly successful.0 -
Phoenix99✭✭✭1 thing to easily remedy the situation.
1-1,5s delay before consecutive recasts (same for Mist form for vampires). It's enough to keep the skill viable, but also gives a chance to chase down/target the sorc between recasts for highly skilled players with good reaction times.
If you are saying that you can stun lock sorc, then apparently the sorc has 0 knowledge about stamina management and usage.
Hard CC - right+left = break and escape
Soft CC - roll = break and escape
Using hard cc on sorc and vamps is almost pointless unless those players are clueless (simply bad). Soft CC can be easily broken, but you can chain that if you have good reaction time, although doing that more than 2 times in a row reliably is super hard, I would say that almost impossible. (a, you need to time it perfectly once the roll animation finishes, and b, you need to have faster reaction than the other player)
bolt escape is still less broken than Mist form, because guys in mist form, even when immobilized as mist, are not targetable by quite a few skills, while immobilzied sorc can be targeted easily by everything.

You realize that gap closers are usually stamina based, and that's a resource that gets tax much heavier in the combat than any magicka skill (you use it for rolls, blocks, running, stealthing and other weapon skills as well, plus it has worse regen rates than magicka)0

Ironic you call people wanting it nerfed a clinical idiot and then turn around and say something really stupid.
For starters at no point did I say put a CD on it...I said to increase the cost so you can't do it 6 - 7 times in a row and be nearly out of site within seconds.
Second, all other gap closers save 1 or 2 rely on stamina. Which means they use the same pool as sprinting/sneaking/blocking and any weapon skill that uses stam. Meanwhile bolt escape doesn't, so a sorc can dodge roll, sneak blah blah all they want then have a nice pool of magika to dip into...
Most gap closers also take a fair amount of stam and can be used maybe 3 times...
What you are saying is that sorcs should never be able to be touched and should be able to kite everyone with no worries of them being able to close that gap...
It is so easy to spot someone who plays an OP class and fights to not get it nerfed.0 -

Also side note...its not just for them escaping...NO CLASS CAN RUN FROM A SORC with this ability.

No sh*t! It's called Bolt ESCAPE. If it was nerfed so it no longer allows you to escape, it becomes one of those useless abilities nobody uses. People give up ability slots for an ability that costs Magicka that is designed not to kill an enemy, but to get away, and people are crying like babies because "their kill" got away.
