    Quit the game
Well, not exactly quit as in "can I haz your stuff" quit.

But I'll be taking a VERY long break, a few months minimum.
There are plenty other good games gathering dust on my shelf, so it'll be a good opportunity to play those for a change.

It does mean that about 4 months of my (long since cancelled) ESO+ will go to waste, but at that point I'm just beyond even pretending that this means anything to me.

BTW, this isn't even a DPS nerf issue for me, I already gave up on running hard content a while ago.
I'm just thoroughly sick and tired of this constant "shotgun nerfing" with absolutely no design intent or direction.

I don’t like the poll options. :unamused:

I will seek to adapt and switch out skills that look like they will no longer be worth it such as rending slash. I may take a break from dungeons as DPS but will continue with my healer and when I feel comfortable with my skills, as DPS again as well. And yes, I do also enjoy additional aspects of the game, such as questing, exploration and housing.

Man it up Peter. I’ve never been super great in the game and I don’t expect one little patch to turn you into a god or a flea.

I expect it will keep going as it is. Some people are really good. Some are really bad. And there’s a whole lot of in between.

I’m tired of hearing about all these people hitting 100k and here I am stuck around 50k on most toons.

I full and darn well expect even my mediocre damage to go down. And I’m ok with that.

In progression groups, it’s never the low damage that makes it hard to do things, it’s game mechanics fail.

I got really bored with that direction which is how I ended up here.

In theory :D Feedback on Ossus was largely positive. I stopped playing just after Copero, so I missed the end of the traitor storyline-- watched it on YouTube, though. Apparently we're back to the Empire/Pub fight again.

50% general DPS nerf is not as bad as people think? I don't think that ever happened in any game

I bet it's more like 35%. Light attacks weren't touched, and AoE DoTs took less than a 50% hit.

Thats in line with the PTS parses I've seen (forums and a trials guild discord). It's still a huge drop and would mean a huge setback for people who are progressing.

Other option: Keep playing how I was going to play anyways? I haven’t updated my main (stamblade) to the meta since they nerfed it during Scalebreaker. It still runs through content easy, just has slightly less impressive numbers in vet raids. Content will still be doable after this patch, it will likely just have less pretty numbers attached to it. And honestly the way my toon is currently set up, this might even give it a comparative advantage to other classes from where it was before.

Adjust where I need to and continue playing the same as I always have. Like every "the game is coming to an end" PTS notes very little will change overall and within a couple weeks of the patch being released no one will even notice.

Character progression in this game is tied to patch updates somehow (which is wrong, but since cp is a really bad progression system...).. if you let people feel stronger and next patch weaker... people obviously will be mad.

I will keep on playing like I always do. I don't protest the game in any other way then not getting the sub (I would probably get it if a few more benefits arose, but loss of the free crates killed my chances currently). When it comes down to it there is no game on the market that scratches the itch that ESO does.

I don’t play dps. I play support in group content. Patch doesn’t affect solo content.

That’s not to say I’m happy about it, I just started seriously pvping with a high rank as my goal. Relearning and relearning what I just adapted to after readapting is annoying as snip.

It's funny how dumb people are and I'm talking about the ones that think this will balance anything. The top DPS will still hit the same DPS number they do now. They will just adjust their rotations to what works.

This is just ZOS further screwing over the majority while trying to nerf the 1% which it won't do. making it even harder for the majority to complete vet content is a stupid vision for the game

In your superior intellect, you do realise that % decrease has greater impact on higher values, right?

What you mean to say is:

Top tier adapts, middle tier copies builds... All is fine again after a month for a few weeks - - then impending doom hits in with next pts cycle.

That's cut from those doing 100K parses and got benefit from power creep the last 2 updates.

My main DD was at 35K before and 35K now in PTS, doing half bothered rotation. So no change what so ever :D

While my other toon that was supposed to be affected as is PVP and solo PVE Tank/DD hybrid, no change there either.
Can still tank (properly) and do 15K dps single target so I guess fine also.

The other 5 proper tanks aren't affected, neither the 2 healers. So actually "Am I bovvered?" :D

Not quitting yet, but I'm getting extremely tired of the constant massive meta changes. Others might have an easier time adjusting, but having to relearn so much so frequently is starting to annoy the living daylights out of me. (I would probably be a little less frustrated if achievements weren't strictly character bound tho.)

    I agree. My merry dance:

Dps was decimated last patch, just got my *** together to achieve roughly where I was before. I can enjoy that for 5 weeks before I do it all over again.

I have no doubt in 10-12 weeks I'll be in the same predicament. Is it tiresome, yes. Is it gonna make me quit, not yet.

Already cancelled my account. Tired of drastic changes every 3 months. No other MMO I have played since 2003 has ever made changes like these in such a short period of time. Oh well. Was fun while it lasted. Hope the ones who are staying enjoy it. But for me? If I don't like something, I leave and find better ways to spend my time.

if they genuinely go live like this, yeah i'm quitting and playing wow classic. when they bated us with that fake-ass "class identity" they promised with dragonhold, stamdks getting a spammable and wardens becoming bis healers is NOT what i had in mind. new gameplay elements my entire ass. It was stupid of me to assume they would have any idea about how class identity should work.

then wow classic, a game that's almost 20 years old, had a better idea for how class balance should work and made each one feel like an entirely new game to play, with different gameplay styles, different unique buffs and utility they bring to the group, each one has its own service every other class begs them for, it's so easy to make friends because everyone wants you in their group for your class.

ESO is the polar opposite. unless you're a nondk tank, nobody cares. every class is the same. the only difference is just visuals, because every rotation is the same, all the skills are the same [some have different colors], all the DPS is the same. necro has major vuln, which makes them stand out, and now that's getting nerfed a bit. it's a sad state.

it also doesn't help that zos's idea of "balance" is just wildly destroying everything in the hopes that it'll balance something. nerfing skills by 33% in scalebreaker and then AGAIN by 60% in dragonhold? it's laughable, honestly. what a shithole.

Okay, you have a decent point here with the rotation homogenization concerning the relationship of weapon abilities to certain specs in ESO, but I'm genuinely flabberghasted that you said WoW Classic has good class balance LOL. Are you talking about the same Classic/Vanilla WoW that that was actually infamous for having a couple metas and then the forgotten specs that couldn't complete basic game content?

At least in ESO, even if you're playing an underperforming class, you can still play through the game. You can still effectively complete overland content, run normal dungeons (perhaps even some vets), explore, and enjoy the content.

Whether people agree or disagree with the changes, the hyperbolic response does nothing but make opinions look illegitimate.

If you want to actually think about what lessons ZOS could take away from Classic, it could be that adding things like class-specific armor sets and class quests adds to a sense of identity.

However, in ESO, you're going to run into a problem with that style of thinking because the point of the classes in ESO is customization. You can play anything you want, any which way. Want to be a sword wielding sorceror? Great, do it. A healing assassin? You can do that too. So then you have to start thinking, how will you create a specific identity around something that can be so many different things? Will that impact player class-customization choices?

These damage changes are only furthering that philosophy - to let the players do what they want. ESO fulfills a niche in the MMO market with its customization and it's important not to underestimate how genuinely beloved it is for exactly that reason. There's definitely some room for improvement with allowing more choices for what abilities you put on your bars, but from what I understand after watching the livestream, that seems to be the end goal here.
