So you are completely buffing OP templars even more and nerf DK's (weakest class scalebreaker) for what reason?

I don't even wanna talk about Nightblade nerfs. Who is behind all of these changes? Do they PvP at all or where do they get their feedback even?

    Oh it's about PvP again.

You should know that the lead combat dev (responsible for 'balancing') is the lead PvP designer. So yes, I guess he does PvP.

    I am talking about STAMDK.

either way it doesn't matter who is weakest at this point be it NB or DK

templars were OP and now they will be even more OP. Why do you give them snare now instead of immobolize? Why guaranteed crits on OP damage skills?

Where does this templar bias come from?

Bear in mind that Backlash will end up doing less damage due to tons of abilities having their damage reduced. 20% of a much lower amount of damage will be a big damage decrease. It may be that crits only really make up for that on average.

LOL, saying Templars got buffed? Seriously? The huge nerf to DoTs does far more to hurt Templars, since they could so easily integrate them into a powerful build. Those DOT builds are now completely gutted. And as the other poster pointed out, that hurts Backlash because DoTs could accumulate so much damage.

I see you don’t know how eclipse works on live by your comment. A lot of Templar’s dropped potl because of its clunkiness and it’s not even necessary for kills. They actually nerfed damage from bane and ritual. Indirectly/directly nerfed Templar’s with the dot change and cp change.

Only buff is with javelin, the snare on sweeps is simply redundant.

Edit I refuse to believe you read these patch notes and thought to yourself “buffed” when there’s multiple nerfs here.

    Aedric Spear
    Piercing Javelin:
Reduced the range from this ability and its morphs to 22 meters, down from 28, to ensure they follow the function of other abilities such as Scatter Shot or Fiery Grip.

These abilities will now ignore the target’s Physical or Spell Resistance to ensure they have a unique auxiliary effect.

    Puncturing Strikes:
This ability and its morphs will now snare the nearest enemy hit by 40% every time it deals damage, rather than snaring the nearest enemy hit by 70% on the final hit.

This ability and its morphs will now properly be considered Direct Damage attacks rather than a hybrid of Direct Damage and Damage over Time. Note that some item sets may still erroneously trigger from the attack, and will be fixed in a future update.

Updated the visual effects of this ability to better sync up with its attacks.

    Spear Shards:
This ability and its morphs now last 10 seconds, up from 8.
Increased the base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
Reduced the damage per tick of the Damage over Time portion of this ability and the Luminous Shards morph by approximately 53%
Blazing spear (morph): Increased the initial hit damage of this ability by 10%, but decreased the damage over time by approximately 59% per tick.

    Dawn’s Wrath
Backlash: This ability and its morphs’ final explosion can now Critically Strike. Boom baby.

Purifying Light (morph): The Heal over Time from this ability will now, as the tooltip insinuates, always apply after the effect ends via any means such as being purged, being recast, or ending naturally. The light cannot be stopped, and shall purify all! This also means that Purifying Light will count for 1 less negative effect from purging.

Eclipse: Fixed an issue where reapplying this ability or the Unstable Core morph to a target before the original expired could cause issues with the cooldown of the effects.

    Living Dark (morph):
This morph now only snares targets for 60%, rather than immobilizing them.
Reduced the healing by approximately 10%.
    Unstable Core (morph):
Reduced the initial and secondary damage dealt of this ability by approximately 44%, and the final hit by 25%.

These attacks now happen in a 5 meter radius around the target, as the visuals insinuate.

    Solar Flare:
    Solar Barrage:
Increased the duration of this morph to 8 seconds, up from 6.
Decreased the damage per tick by approximately 30%.

    Sun Fire:
Fixed an issue where the Major Prophecy from this ability and its morphs would only occur if you dealt damage, rather than upon activation, as the tooltip states.
Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
Increased the base cost to 2970, up from 2376.
Decreased the Damage over Time of these abilities by approximately 60% per tick.

    Restoring Light
    Cleansing Ritual:
Ritual of Retribution (morph): Reduced the damage per tick of this morph by approximately 33%.
Restoring Focus: Fixed an issue where this ability was unable to be cast while silenced.
Rite of Passage: Fixed an issue where this ability could cause health desyncs when used while taking heavy damage.

Yeah, folks like to focus on their pet peeve issue and ignore everything else. It wasn't any one specific Templar skill that made Templars strong, it was their ability to add the very strong DoTs and integrate those into powerful builds.

Acting like Backlash is the key to Templar strength is really naïve. Sounds like someone whining because they died to Backlash a few times rather than someone who understands Templar skills and builds. Like Templars can just hit a button and have 15k Backlash crits. And even if they could, it would be once every 6 seconds. And after all that, targeted players could simply purge it.

Uninformed is uninformed, no matter how many idiotic emojis folks put after their comment.

I don't dispute that further buffing Templars is a bewildering move, but DK is far from the weakest class.

    Let me elaborate:

    "Piercing Javelin:
Reduced the range from this ability and its morphs to 22 meters, down from 28, to ensure they follow the function of other abilities such as Scatter Shot or Fiery Grip.

These abilities will now ignore the target’s Physical or Spell Resistance to ensure they have a unique auxiliary effect."

BUFFED. You get full penetration now. Range change won't affect the gameplay in negative way, it is only a bandaid for gapclose exploit to places templar's shouldn't reach.

BUFFED. You hit snare from the first hit which removes all the counterplay options or reaction time for others. Also turning it into full direct damage is going to allow more build options.

    Dawn’s Wrath
Backlash: This ability and its morphs’ final explosion can now Critically Strike. Boom baby.

BUFFED. already nuked hard and now it is guaranteed crit. Boom baby indeed.

    Living Dark (morph):
This morph now only snares targets for 60%, rather than immobilizing them.
Reduced the healing by approximately 10%.

BUFFED. Ask any templar player in PvP, they will all take the 60% snare instead of immobilizing the enemy any day. Immobilizing effect can be countered but snare? How many times are we supposed to spam snare removal? They nerf dizzy and draining shot because people fail to block or roll dodge and they have called it "i win" button in latest bethesda stream. Convince me that Living Dark isn't an "i win" button. 10% healing reduction won't even be felt when it was OP healing in the first place.

Every other change is aimed at PvE as they are morphs people don't use in PvP or it is bug fixes for improved gameplay.

DK is actually among the top PvP classes on live...both Mag and Stam are extremely good. My Magicka Necromancer is getting nerfed back into irrelevance, though. It was already pretty much last place for effective offense, but at least the generic DOTs and previous buff to Skeletal Mage gave it something. Now it'll be back to light attack + spammable and hoping the Blastbones actually manages to land sometimes.

Lmao, while they're indeed out of their minds DK is definitely NOT the weakest class. Also, just as a side note, my magsorc can now be a full time healer.

    Oh it's about PvP again.

You should know that the lead combat dev (responsible for 'balancing') is the lead PvP designer. So yes, I guess he does PvP.

Is that all the proof you need that he PvPs?

By the changes he is pushing thought is clear that he doesn't pvp at all and has no idea about class balance.

I don't even wanna talk about Nightblade nerfs. Who is behind all of these changes? Do they PvP at all or where do they get their feedback even?

I think that Magblades win for weakest SB class. Even worse now. And my stamblade... lolcry

Necro has to be the weakest. Magblade isn't great but at least there are reasons to play magblade.

Nightblades have received by far the most nerfs for a number of patches in a row. So I understand their position.

But mag Necro was in pretty bad shape and they got nerfed pretty hard too.

The first hit is where they should placed the effect on that ult. Putting it on the last hit means it's the biggest, slowest, most telegraphed and avoidable attack in pvp. RIP

Templars are being nerfed in PvP:
    > Javelin has lesser range. It's a utility skill so it doesn't matter that much that it ignores amor resistance.
    > 10% less heal from Living Dark.
    > No root from Living Dark.
    > Less overal heal over time since Structured Entropy is losing it's viability.

The only real buff is critical chance on Purifying Light. Other stuff are bugfixes.

They have effectively reverted last quarter's buffs (except didn't revert the cost increase associated with those changes), then went ahead to nerfed more and increased the cost of more abilities. It's one thing to admit that some of the changes were bad, too good, or monitored with unsatisfying results... What was the point though?

There was a promise to provide class identity, instead they've gutted a morph option to several skills to "scale this way" or "become stamina based" where they've effectively declined catering to what's currently live, in favor for a new stam meta. This doesn't open new playstyles, this changes/trades them. If this was the smartest idea they could have came up with, then it's time they should have considered second tire or third option morphs. They are "building" on a foundation that has existed since launch, just like the CP system, it's crumbling. The skill UI and its options hasn't been updated and the fact that it's limited is what hurts ZoS from making meaningful changes.

What this comes down to is a selfish manager with ASPD who doesn't want to spend the resources and effort.
Just kidding, people with ASPD wouldn't be so stupid as they'd realized that this isn't something that can sustain them.

ESO in a few years at this rate isn't going to make it.

Entropy nerf applies to all mag classes. Stamplar is unaffected by this.
Stamplar can still use onslaught jabs.
Living Dark was WAY overtuned. Getting a nerf doesn't make them weak.
Javelin? whatever. 90% of magplars don't even run javelin cause toppling is already a stun+off balance. Stamplars have a reason to run them now that dizzying is dead.

Puryfing light on the other hand is on 99.9% of templar builds and already hits a truck ton without the crit (by the way critical moves count towards purifying light so this skill is sort of double dipping on crit). Genius devs.
Puncturing strikes snaring from every hit is definitely a buff compared with a stronger snare on last hit for stamplars.
Bugfixes means even with the bugs templars are already overperforming. A bugfix still adds improvement to current templars. Other classes more reliant on generic skills because their skill set aren't as strong as templars will suffer more than templars. Templars are still very very strong.
