The lack of nameplates is making the invisi-bots possible

Because Zenimax have refused to provide the option to show nameplates the invisi-bot plague we're suffering continues unchecked.

Why?

Well, I just saw three invisi-bots in action but wasn't quick enough to target them in order to see their names. I eventually camped a wood node and sure enough within a short time I heard the sound of gathering and a nameplate magically appeared because my cursor was on the wood.

I thus was able to screenshot and manually enter the name on a report.

Point is, if we could display nameplates then clearly we would see those even though the RMT scum have hacked a way to make the character invisible and Zenimax seem incapable of preventing this.

I second this. I too have noticed invisible "bots" taking a node as soon as it appears.

I have had a few nodes disappear in this way. I am not ruling out a cheat, but since this game has so many problems with instancing I am wondering if what is actually happening is that ghosts from other instances might be bleeding through and harvesting?

kind of like when you are grouped with someone on a different part of the quest and they are invisible but obviously standing right next to you.

There's a plague of them now on Bleakrock on the EU server, I saw umpteen nodes simply vanish before my eyes.

There are also other tele-bots that aren't invisible I saw three at one time harvesting three different nodes had they had nameplates I could have reported them all, as it is I was powerless to do anything but watch the nodes disappear with the bots immediately after.

You know I had an invisible mob beat on me yesterday, and after a few minutes of staying alive it finally appeared. I have seen one nod disappear like you are talking and that was yesterday too. I just think it is a combination of server lag, and/or our computers not rendering everything, due to either server lag or computer slowing down.

Yeah, I'm not too sure they are actually invisible. Teleporting around and snatching up nodes before anyone else has a chance at them, sure. But I think that the invisibility is probably just lag. Much like when you first enter a busy town and there's nobody there for a few seconds.

Also, I've encountered a few nodes that disappeared when I went to harvest them, or the glowing effect from keen eye where there was no node. I always attributed it to a glitch that made the node visible when it was already harvested or something, but after seeing video of these teleporting bots, maybe it's not a glitch after all. :\

Invisible bots doesn't exist in games that have nameplates.
Actually they do, just look at WoW.

So why would nameplates solve this problem?

This is just another attempt by people to push their name plate agenda. They want nameplates to make pvp easier for them. A few of us offered a compromise of having friendly name plates, but enemies wouldn't have nameplates. The result of that was them complaining they need to know their enemies name, because they would change how they fight depending on who it was.

Hovering over the person, invisible or not, still gives name. If you aren't close enough to do this, chances are a nameplate wouldn't have helped you either.

They can know their enemies names easily by hovering over them. Critter or player.

A number of the invisible bots are not so much invisible persay but are in reality map hacked to be below the ground and they are mining the nodes from underneath.

I agree, but they want an easy way to tell if someone is hiding behind a rock or battlement not able to stealth. Other pvp games that had nameplates a lot of times the nameplates would sit above the cover, or extend out past the cover.

You should look at this thread, well maybe the last page or two, the OP in it is the prime example of what I am talking about.
