What if performance can never be fixed

well since bandwidth cost money and they likely already contract out to a server farm which also costs money, combined with the fact that most play for near free (B2P), means that the improvement will most likely come at the cost of speed of combat. i.e lower overall requests and calculations to fit what they are already paying for.

They really screwed themselves with the animation cancelling. No wonder buddy was fired.

Stopped subscribing a month or two ago specifically because of the lag. Their servers are really poor, and there's no technology barrier to stop them improving the server locations and efficiency. They're deliberately choosing not to invest their income in better latency performance. And until they do, I'll continue choosing not to invest my money in ESO.

I’m having faith they will do why they say. For me personally Xbox One X N/A server I’m not really experiencing lag. It’s more video / sound de syncing, and frame rate drops during overland, dungeon content. Haven’t really got into Cyrldil, but I can imagine it’s bad. Oddly I’m for the most part fine in battlegrounds.

The strange thing for me is everything run almost perfect when playing on the Xbox EU server. Seeing how I live in Missouri you wouldn’t think that’d be the case.

Honestly though main reason for me to stay, I haven’t come across anything that I enjoy as much as ESO. Story wise, combat, and graphics wise it’s perfect to my taste, gaming style.

I already quit playing because it was getting worse in the past year. The amount of bugs, lag and long loading screens kind of ruined my fun in the game. I have a good gaming pc and a fast and stable internet connection. ESO is the only game that gives me issues. Maybe I return in a year or so, who knows?

They said they had performance fixes in the future.

    I don't pay anyway
Also since update I have lag spikes.
Only in eso. Gw2, aion, bns etc all good.
But in eso every minute whole world stops for 3-10 seconds. Every dam minute.

I paid for ESO+ and all contents during 2 years, I also bought a lot of crowns during that time.
I stopped my sub and any kind of transaction because of the bad performance of the game and the way our legitimate complains were completely and deliberately ignored for years also. I particularly remember the reaction of ZOS during the last undaunted event when people were telling that the grouping tool was broken "what ? you're in group and you press the button and it doesn't work ?" I stopped my sub at this exact moment. (I don't blame the messenger here ! I blame the hypocrisy of the company)

I'd be more than happy to sub again when/if the game gets a decent fix : group finder fixed, no lags anymore, especially in Cyro, guildbank/guildstore bugs fixed for starting. I don't even dare dreaming about in combat bug fixed.
I LOVE this game and its content : it's just completely spoiled by the terrible performance.

And in my post I wasn't talking about promises of fixing things, or announcement in patch notes, I'm talking about actual fixes.

The majority of the problems that this game has is due to the code being a complete mess (they admitted that a while back), the improvement plan that they have shown us is them trying to fix the base code. That is why in update 25/26 (cannot remember which) we have to redownload the entire game, because they are basically rewriting the base code, integrating the all of the previous updates instead of just layering them on top.

Now whether they can actually fix the problems or if the player base will survive that long, who knows.

But then what do I know anyway.

The base code is only a small part of it. The assets make up the vast majority of a download.

I actually read it as they were re-organising how all the assets were stored, splitting them into smaller more logical units.

The benefits of that would be the claimed reduction in patch size through better targetting and also significantly improved loading asset loading time for the same reasons. I got the impression that the original layout was a bit simplistic and didn't cater for any sort of serious growth.

Lol yeah and look at how good that worked out.

Its not an issue of can, they can. But they dont want to. Its always about making money, and crown store reskins are much more profitable.

They cannot fix the game, the original development team that knew where to put their hands in the code, has long gone.

Apparently they did not leave good documentation enough (who does, when you are forced to work 80 hours a week before release?) nor they have any or sufficient unit testing.

End result: approximate, steering by sight development that gets a limited amount of time to have us test it on the PTS and then we get... this kind of quality.
