Tbh, I don't know why people vote for him at all... probably only if they know nobody else :D

vivec is one of the most fleshed out characters in the elder scrolls lore. people will state his betrayal of nerevar as a reason not to like him, but people will also choose meridia despite her being evil.

I am not saying he is poorly designed NPC. But god is somebody who represents something worth following.. it maybe virtue or sin, doesn't matter. But what Vivec represents? Despite completing original Morrowind many times, I don't remember anything inspiring about him. He basically represents typical amorphous person in power who don't want to do or change anything, just keeps things like they are and creates all kinds of soft obstacles for those who want to change.

Depends on your criteria. I vote in these on characters that interest me the most, not on gods that I'd like to follow. And from this current batch I think Vivec is the most fleshed out, most nuanced and by that most interesting, to me at least.

Your post is literally description of how results of majority of polls are received, no offense.

People don't vote for question in the poll, people simply select what they like from poll options.

P.S. was looking for an appropriate meme, but found IRL Vivec :D

Except it's a poll about favoritism, with no actually specific question asked. Nowhere does it say that the point of the poll I'd who you would follow -- it's who you like best. Picking the character that interests you the most is a 100% accurate interpretation of the poll question, given that they're fictional characters, and our preference of them comes from a very outside perspective.
Voting for the answer you like best is literally the point.

Poll is about deity, not an NPC. Vivec is not a deity, he just stole power and created cult of himself, sacrificing his friend and his entire race in process. Same is about Almalexia and Sotha Sil - they all created belief in them artificially, they are not deities, they are just very powerful mages. This is proved by fact that Azura cursed them and all chimers in one move and Tribunal CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. One daedric prince is way more powerful then all 3 so-called "deities". You are able to slay Vivec and Almalexia at will in TES3. No scripted scene, no special ritual, no divine power behind you, just come any time and butcher them with simple spells and swords. Are they really a gods after that? Even in ESO Vivec is shown as completely powerless, put down by false Nerevarine machinations. Tribunal has personal cards in ES Legends, where you can kill them as well with simple poison arrow. You can't do anything like that to Akatosh or Meridia or Sheogorath or whoever else from 8 or from daedric princes.

So you voted for NPC, not for a deity, while poll title is about deities. Though it is just my opinion (i'm 3rd Era Imperial loyalist in terms of TES perception), you may consider Tribunal as deities, it's ok, entire race was doing that for centuries.

??? What are you even talking about. I was responding about the topic of voting for the deity you find interesting vs one you'd actually follow. Didn't ask for you getting aggressive about something else @ me.

When signups for these polls were going on, one of the criteria was being worshipped and recognized in-universe as deities. This applies to the Tribunal. Everything you're discussing is basically an in-lore discussion (which is the absolute beauty of TES lore; the complexity of it, like my earlier discussions in these threads about the Sithis/Padomay debate).

The difference is that some people know how to keep it civil, while you're letting your lore opinions get too real and being aggressive and demeaning towards people for their choices. Chill it.

She's a Daedric Prince. Neither of them are good nor evil, they belong to the "Blue and Orange Morality".
We and the mortals of Nirn can label them by our morals and call them good or evil, even though they are neither. They simply are what they are, and what lies in their nature. Like in the story of The Scorpion and the Frog.

...Hmm, and this poll part was trickier for me. Who to vote for....

I was not aggressive against you. My initial comment was opinion that people who vote for Vivec don't know much about other gods in the poll (Akatosh or Magnus for example). Ok, I get it, I was wrong, a lot of people well-versed in TES lore actually like Vivec, though I still don't get it what is it about him to be liked.
I may suggest that Vivec represents out typical RL person in power, so he is one of the deities closest to objective reality, so from modern and adult point of view Vivec-like persons are real and were real for all history, while majority of other ESO deities are just fairy tales.

Your tone came off as such. Of course people who don't know as much lore and as many characters will vote for who they know. It was the same with the reoccurring characters poll, and it's the same reason why so many vote for Uncle Sheo. Can't change that. (It's why in these rounds I've often cast my vote on the last day and for a deity that may not be my favorite of the group, but has less fans)
The entire Tribunal gets a lot of lore and are complex characters, which is enough for many people. Morrowind is very nostalgic for many as well. And in my personal opinion, Morrowind is an absolute peak of lore and does an insanely good job of giving us complex and realistic mythologies.
I love the sermons. The Tribunal is thus also just involved and connected to a lot of good lore, and that's another good reason for many.
An the whole godhood thing is just a whole nother debate IMO. The daedra are just different beings with different ways of existence -- what makes the princes deities? Because theyre the strongest of daedra? That just makes them the strongest of s different species. Because they're immortal? So are other daedra. Are all daedra minor deities then? Is it the matter of being a counterpart to the aedra? What makes aedra deities? Their hand in creation? Then daedra don't have that, including the princes.
What makes a god but worship? They are all just different things; there is no specific genetic or spiritual force that makes a deity, for there are many who are different kids of beings. And some will be more powerful than others.

I think it would be difficult to catagorize it into three lists, as it would have to be broken down even further anyway since the number of choices allowed per poll are limited.

More importantly, by doing so we would risk Snugglorr the Magnificent becoming bored and losing its sense of purpose here ;)

Snugglorr chooses who fights based on his inscrutable whim. To ask why the lists aren't different is to ask why the order of the alphabet isn't different, or why the order of the integers isn't different. They are simply the way they are.

    Akatosh of course !

He's constantly saving the world from evil powers, be it Ayleids or Daedra.
And he's the god-defender of the Empire as it is supposed to be - a realm of peace and prosperity that unites all of Tamriel.

(Allright, so I played Imperials in every TES game, ever since I started with Morrowind. And in every game the Empire had better arguments than the alternative. It lost control during Skyrim and ESO, and look what that did to the world - stupid, endless wars, pain and suffering all around. I really can't give any other god precedence.)
