Really annoying mailbox bug (Mail doesn't go through when offline)

So, first of all this is not just the usual snail mail that has been going on for years now.
My issue is this: Whenever I'm offline and another player sends me in-game mail, I will not receive that mail. No matter what. So for example if a friend of mine sends me Chromium Plating while I'm offline, that plating will just disappear into the void. This does not happen when I'm online however.
Is there any fix to this? Or is my best bet to contact ZoS on this matter?
The bugs in this game annoy the ever living hell out of me sometimes.
