Another thread about hiding vampirism!

They should sell a hide vampirism costume in the crown store. That way you can't wear another costume so you give something up. They could also charge as much as they want. People would buy it.

Yes it would. It would take away my ability to see that you're a vampire.

For creeps like you we have bufftrackers. Besides, what is the difference for you if I wear a disguise or a skin to hide vampirism? NONE.

Yeah, it really sucks to spend an hour in character creation to make your character look good, and then when you find out how powerful vampirism is, you throw that work in the bin. Like you're not allowed to enjoy both gameplay and cosmetics on the same character. It's hard to imagine any sensible reason for not making it possible to hide vampirism properly, even if we disregard that we can hide it improperly with disguises as you point out. We generally have so much freedom with regards to looks in this game, and with disguises and costumes you don't even have a reliable way of telling what weight armor your pvp opponents are wearing, so it really is strange that you are forced into ugliness just because you naturally want that really big buff called Vampirism.

Can anyone tell me whether ZOS has ever commented on this issue? I imagine they just think there's always more important stuff to put in updates, style of thing, but I could easily have missed it if they've said something.

Why are you attacking this person by calling him/her a creep? People shouldn't be forced to look at a buff-tracker to know if you are a vampire or not. They should be able to look at their skin.

It is my opinion that ZOS should do nothing to hide the looks of vampire. You either choose to be a vamp, look like a vamp and get the benefits of it, or you choose not to because you don't want to look like a vamp. It just doesn't make sense that someone should be able to hide the look. You are a vampire. If you don't want to look like one, don't be one.

This argument is just so lame. Get over it already.

Vamps are ugly af. What those npcs are doing, and what you should be asking for is a masquerade type spel that hides your vampirism. I can get behind that, but the masque should drop as soon as you enter combat, or feed, or use any vamp ability and have to be reapplied afterwards; unavailable at stage 4, and uses up half your magicka pool semi permanently when active. That would appease the rp folk and pvpers.

Being what some see as ugly is not a downside of choosing to be a vampire. Lower health recovery and more vulnerability towards fire damage age the downsides. Being a vampire in stage 1 grants no positive and/or negative buffs what so ever. You are just a face freshly dipped in flour, with warpaint and/or other makeup barely visible. Therefore you are merely a human, yet look like a vampire. Do not come at me with lore when we have Count Verandis Ravenwatch and Lamae Bal that claimes her kin hides among crowns and rags.

Disguises obtainable from quests are pretty cute. They show your character just like you saw it in the character creation. But you do not get the chance to wear any Crown Store cosmetics. No new hairstyle, no cute dwemer goggles or eyelashes. Disguises also hides guild tabard, not just the visual, but for nameplates purpose too.

Skins are another option. Yes, they hide your pale vampire skin, but they hide your skin no matter if you are a vampire or not anyways. Currently several of the skins require DLC/ESO+ and Morrowind expansion. Not only do they require that, but you need a damn good group to clear the content to achieve the skin(s). Besides, who says looking like a character from Tron or a meatball is any better? One of the skins requires a hell of a farm (also DLC/ESO+) with a ridiculous droprate and lootsystem. Twelve people Sloot, not guaranteed the skin to drop, while eighty people are farming with you, is so weird it is funny. I am looking at you Imperial City anniversary event.

Polymorphs are great too. They completely change your character appearance to the unrecognizable. But running around Tamriel looking like Spooky Scary Skeletons all year is nothing for me. The Maelstorm Arena Baron or the 250K Tel Var stones are ok, but not for those that wants to show their armor and/or costume(s).

From a pvp perspective where some people (for odd reasons I do not understand) really needs to know if their opponent is a vampire or not, we have buff trackers on all platforms for creeps like them. Do you really change up your skills because you are facing a vampire??! Now I did read somewhere that the in-game buff trackers only shows your own buffs, not other peoples buff. (Someone correct me here please) And if that actually is the case, just add that toggle. Add so that you can see the buffs other people have. Just make it a toggle, because surely some can live without seeing if their opponent is a vampire. Or a werewolf for that matter.

Looks are clearly important in this game as people spend ages in character creation to customize their character just the way they want it. There is a high demand on changing not just the traits, but on changing armor and weapon styles too, even adding weapon dyes. Therefore vampires and their terrible looks are also important in this perspective.

In the end, all the methods that currently allows you to somehow hide your vampire appearance, is simply avoiding the issue. Vampires look absolutely terrible. We are a pink-purple hue and veiny. We look like Halloween-makeup gone wrong. If you do actually like your vampire appearance, that is great! You rock that look! But I, and many others really, really, really do not like the look. Give us an option to hide our vampire skin, and still be able to show our armor and/or Crown Store cosmetics. If it is a skin from Crown Store only, an option in regular settings, a skin with the level 10 vampire achievement, or some other way (NOT CROWN CRATES, OH GOD PLEASE). I support it. I just want my bis bosmer cuteness back. Hell I would even support werewolf fur dye. Want to be a pink werewolf? Be a pink big dog. :)))))))))

*I wrote this on phone so sorry for any typos if you find some*

The Rime skin I used on my vamp came from the previous crates, which are cyclical so they will be around again.

And it only cost 40 gems

Or even just full body armour (tons of sets don't show any skin).

The argument that we shouldn't be able to hide vampirism because people need to see it in PvP is laughable.

Uh, that stuff about being able to see a vampire in pvp - you can hide being a vampire easily by putting a closed helmet on (or some skin etc.). So I don't understand why we are able to wear costumes in pvp, anyway. But pvp is definitely not a reason against a "hide vampirism" option.

Make-up and cosmetics do exist in Tamriel. It would be easiest to just add sth like the "no helmet" option for vampirism. There are so many skins and polymorphs, I don't agree to ANY reasoning against hiding your bloodless vampire skin, because the same reasoning would apply to ALL changes to skins. Especially when you can in fact hide your vampirism with those skins already, so why is using such a skin totally ok, but it's unthinkable to have a "human skin" to hide your vampirism? I don't get it.

I would be more than happy if we could choose between the 4 vampire stage appearances.
    Personally I prefer stages 2 + 3.

Let feeding / not feeding affect your passives as it should.
But surely as a magical creature you'd be able to present yourself as more / less intimidating by choice.
This way you can still obviously see that someone is a vamp as their skin is still pale, it just allows players to choose the extremity and severity of their looks, win-win.
