mag dps vBRP sets

so if you get around you know i made a recruitement post the other day for vBRP. I figured it would die at the bottom of the forums but surprisingly we got a group together and started progging. So far it's mostly tames on stage 4 that's giving us trouble [ and tames on stage 2] so if you have any advice for that i'm all ears. I'm a magsorc with vma lightning staff [hence why im not mentioning BSW].

but the point of this post is; what are some good magicka sets i could run?

False Gods i'm missing some perfect pieces for and don't want to waste time farming imperfect. Maybe i'll get that this weekend, but ultimately it doesn't seem that you're getting many kills when you need them. [the other dps mentioned not getting too much use out of it during the tough boss fights where it matters more]

siroria I'm sure some people can pull that off but not me, not yet anyway.

MS I've been using this and

Necropotence for crit and general mag but i'm not sure If i should use

spell strategist for more damage, but is then useless on trash. pair this with MS?

or...

mechanical acuity is a set that's been on my mind. I'm a khajiit with shadow stone, so if i replaced MS hypothetically i'd be getting crazy crit damage during the proc. Controlling the proc is pretty easy, especially since during tames sections with all the netches we avoid using blockade and liquid in open areas so we aren't using backbar a lot. So basically i'm mostly crushing [ my spammable for vbrp; interrupts for tames, infusers, etc] and cursing and fragging during those parts. I crafted a set way back when it was BiS and kinda miss it so i'm wondering about this.

my other unconventional idea...

moondancer ; we're throwing around a lot of synergies. bone wall during fetcherflies if it's on healer or non dk [dks just use magma and can solo tank it easily], orbs, spears, extended ritual, etc. Sustain is always great since im a crap sorc non breton, and spell damage obviously is helpful too.

any other thoughts and ideas? Also i almost forgot; for monster sets i'm mostly running zaans to burst down targets faster, but i could do something without crit if i have MA like valkyn or maw (? tank might hate that lol) or maybe even.. *shivers* iceheart.

I would indeed recommend perfect false god, even when it doesn't proc, the damage it adds is approximate to julianos (more or less, 170 spell damage vs minor slayer) but u also get 8% skill cost reduction and occasional magicka jumps, which makes it :amazing: i do very much like mechanical acuity+necropotence (which was my main setup for my pet sorc, hehe) but since perfected false gods is just better than necropotence imo (tee hee) and it has two crit bonuses, mothers sorrow have passed mechanical acuity for me (the less crit chance you have the better mechanical acuity is)

ooh okay thanks for the info. so I should try to go for false god. Necro + MA sounds fun, too.

Doesn't really matter if it's Perfected or not. You want Perfected, of course, but don't sweat it if you don't.

Pair FGD with anything. Julianos. Sorrow. Whatever. Gear doesn't make that much of a difference.

    What matters is strategy.

Since you're just going for a clear, don't be afraid of using sigils. But plan it out. What spot gives you the most trouble? Pop the defense sigil at that point.

For the final round of stage 4, when you encounter all the bosses, my recommendation for a first-time clear is this:
    1. Kill the fire boss. Until the fire boss is dead, ignore Tames (just make sure tank keeps him taunted).
    2. Push Tames until the Wamasu spawns. Then ignore tames and kill the Wamasu. Sometimes the Wamasu bugs out and doesn't spawn. Error in your favor. Whatever you do, do not push Tames to the Haj spawn.
    3. Wait for Minara to spawn (this happens on a timer, not on Tames health %). Focus down and kill Minara. Don't touch Tames.
    4. Kill Tames. When the Haj spawns, ignore it--just have the tank hold it and keep it out of your hair.

In actual content, it is REALLY hard to beat MS, FG and a VMA staff. VO has been the go to arena set for stam forever, and FG is the magic equivalent. I find I move too much for siroria, and things go down so fast that you really dont build the stacks you need. Blending MS and Mech Acuity makes no sense whatsoever, as you dont care about your base crit when MA procs. Spell strat is a single target set, so not my first choice for an arena. Moondancer, well to be frank, I am suprised this set never made more of a comeback once they made staffs act as two pieces. I think it might actually be more viable than people give it credit for, but again, I would take FG all day. Necro would be my second choice behind FG to pair with MS. With either build, you want to front bar MS, and double bar FG or Necro.

All that said, your gear probably isnt the main issue as any of the above are more than viable.

This is actually a strategy we started using towards the end of our run, but it got really late so we quit. we did actually get to the haj mota after killing minara but we made the mistake of trying to focus it instead of just burning tames. Sometimes it feels like he has less health than the haj lol. Will definitely follow this next time, thanks!

I wouldn't pair MA with MS, i'd pair it with necropotence. But your point still stands. I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and going for normal false gods since getting the other pieces i need for perfected will take months at this rate [ I get about 1 FGD drop a week of clearing vSS about 3 times a week at least, and every time this month it's been head/shoulder lol]. I agree about moondancer. I kinda wish i twas just a hint stronger to make it a better choice option. Thanks for your input guys!

Sounds like you might need to be a bit more aggressive about asking your group members for drops. I am still farming VSS for my daggers, but find that most of the armor drops are throwaways at this point, especially if in a bad trait. Since you dont need the weapons or jewelry, it shouldnt be too bad. But as Code said, not a huge difference between perfected and non perfected.
