Way too much running in Cyrodiil; will there be a fix?

anthonyb14_ESO19
Cyrodiil is pretty nice in general, except that I spend 90%+ of my time running to the same places over and over.

What is going to be done about this and when? It is not enjoyable to have actions <10% of the time.

You have obviusly never played guild wars 2.
Amagine Cyrodil with ten times more running, yeah.

They did do something about it, those spawnable forward camps.

Fast travel makes MMOs worse, instant gratification makes MMOs worse. I respectfully disagree that you need to spend less time in Cyrodiil running, there is already fast travel to keeps that you control, by eliminating the running, you get rid of the chance to be attacked and the chance to attack other people.

I urge ZOS not to WOWify the game.

I'm not asking to get rid of all running, but the current amount is unbearable and needs to be fixed.

I personally believe flying mounts hurt WoW alot.
Instead of constantly seeing other players, you generally never see players outside of cities on WoW now.

I believe the running times in Cyrodil are fine.
They will get better as you improve your horse aswell.

    ESO needs more Icarian flight!

My horse is 1/3 up and it is still entirely intolerable. It needs to be at least 3x faster to be reasonable, and my horse won't get me there.

That's a very specific amount of time which you deem acceptable.

Now I want to play Morrowind again.

I remember making myself boots of 1000 Acrobatics so that I could jump across the whole map (it was faster than flying).

    OP,

Cyrodiil is supposed to feel big...this is something you need to accept. That region does not need any more nerfs due to people implying something isn't 'fair,' etc. Just learn to accept that it is a big map and it's supposed to take time to travel within it if there is no access to a transit shrine.

Level your horse up then, or spend the gold traveling from shrine to shrine.

Unless I've been completely inobservant, there is no fee for traveling between shrines.

Cyrodiil is fine as it is.. the long distances between castles provide enough time for your own army to regroup against an enemy attack, virca versa.. Too close respawns would *** up the fights to take over castles...

I completely agree, the whole of "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is played out in that region and it didn't exactly take 5 minutes to get from one side of the map to the other....

All they really need to do is improve the already existing deployable forward camps. I want to build entire army camps you can spawn in! Like, covering a field. Would add alot more epicness when you discover the location of the enemy army encampment.
  • PerfectTemplar
I hope they add real forward camps that are just there by default depending on the ownership of a keep and it's location in relation to the nearest allied keep.

Its fine has is, now if only they introduce pitfalls and other battleflied traps to be laid arround for zergs to fall into and slow them down.

Then all that traveling and such will be even more fun.

How to reduce travel time: stop dying. This is to prevent zerging, if a single zerg can cover an entire map by itself because the travel time is too low we will have Zerg Wars 2

I don't think there will be a fix for the time that it takes to get around cyrodiil. In order to fix something it has to be broken.

Cyrodiil is supposed to be big, and the long distances are there to bring tactics back into massive PvP/RvR. If you can't stand the constant running, I suggest you do what other posters said before me and stop dying. Lose the zerg mentality and start playing like death matters. Because in this game, it does.

I agree that the time it takes to run/ride is good as is. It adds a lot more of a strategic element to the game, instead of just having a zerg moving quickly across the map. It would be a mistake to change it.

Get a horse? Feed the horse so it gets max speed or stamina. Problem solved.

On first entering Cyrodil and running around a bit and getting lost a bit then running around a bit more I had the thoughts of the OP. I finished quests and came away and thought about it using my brain. I agree now that running around a bit is a part of being in Cyrodil and gives more chance of PvP encounters. This is a cool game and Cyrodil should stay as a running around a bit place.
Haven't been back due to "unknown error" issues but that's for another thread... ;)

Yeah. People standing around, talking to vendors, AFKing: As if nobody's in a hurry cause, the war? oh it'll be there when we get there. and besides, I just died! do you have any idea how far away it is to the front?!

  • michaelpatrickjonesnub18_ESO

    They cost 7,200.

    Nobody buys them.

I played for a week. Racked up about 120,000 points. And saw no more than 10 camps placed during that time. Nobody wants to run an ultra marathon every time they PvP. Unless they have no life.

Newcomers hate this system. It's a complete waste of their time. PvP will never grow unless they drop the cost of camps.

Mostly Harmless let me run with them while the did a mass instructional with raids. We moved across the countryside like a angry plague. The leaders were so on point it still amazes me.

Best part was when we were ordered to float between objectives. a score of players camouflaged across a long hillside who's sole function at that moment was to harass, skirmish, and choke off less organized opposing reinforcements.

who you play with matters a great deal. I hope I get the chance again.
