What CONCERNS you about the proposed healing changes?

ZOS is undoing their initial plan of wanting to make classes more equal and making them unique in an unproductive way. If they want Templars and Wardens to be meta for healing then they need to boost the damage and tankiness of other remaining classes. If not then what was the purpose of the round and round changes.

I like the changes, but I also agree that vHOF HM and CR+3 is going to be more difficult to clear.

A few things. Mostly the orb change, but also the fact that I've been in raids where overhealing was dominant and instead of actually doing mechanics we just healed through them. So I'm worried about the overall drastic toning they've done, but I'm optimistic that they'll come back with something that the majority can compromise on.

Should DPS also be required to help tank?

Arguably, they are already, from Banished Cells onward. :)

Seriously, sorcerers were able to help with healing while pet builds were good. Magblades helped with healing until that got nerfed. Echoing Vigor has long helped, but I suspect people are supposed to use the selfish morph now. DPS magplars could help with Power of the Light, but that heal has now been nerfed somewhat.

It seems that the healer job is being made harder and more necessary at once.

    ...
No. Relying on my damage dealers to heal for me does not make my job "harder".
There's a difference between situations where DPS have self-healed for things like portals in vCR/vSS or in vAS when healers might be out if range with other mechs, and having to heal in any trial because your healer literally is unable to perform their role effectively any longer.

And no, DPS do not "arguably" help tank any serious content. No DPS walks into vAS with a taunt slotted to tank some minis because tanks are literally unable to keep taunt up and a DPS tanking is required.

I think that this will further reduce the relevancy of healers in most content, because they will be less effective and DPS will increase reliance on self heals
Healers now will be more unwanted than ever in 4 man content. That content is where healers learn to heal so that they can move up to trials. I think most established healers will be able to adapt. But getting new healers into trials is going to be difficult .

Honestly I don't really care so much about the individual mechanic changes, they're annoying and limiting but by themselves it would be fine to roll with, nothing I can't adapt to.

It's how out of touch they are, added to a long list of nerfs and quality of life downgrades it's just wearing on me over the years, I don't look forward to achieving any sort of character goals in this game anymore, I no longer have any attachment to my characters because I never know if they're going to be fundamentally altered into something less.

This is very much a game of endlessly chasing the carrot which is normally great to me but hey keep taking the carrot and doing unspeakable things to it and then putting it back in front of me, I don't want it anymore, it smells horrible.
I feel like they're not developing for the game that the rest of us play, my trust has eroded bit by bit and baffling nonsense like this rips out huge chunks of whatever confidence I might have left.

I'm kind of at the point of trying to decide if I still want to keep playing this game when I am taking a break from other games, mainly City of heroes Homecoming which I will continue to shill for just for that one person who sees it and goes "wtf is this guy on about coh's dead" and checks google on a whim and has a happy surprise like I did.

Not at all happy about the matriarch healing nerf on my petsorc. I don't PvP or do group content, so the rest of the changes have little impact on me.

Yea, I'm sad about this too. I only had so many poll choices so tried to choose the ones I've heard that were broader for all healers, but I do think this is a bummer.

I chose "all of the above" but I am most concerned about "I think the single casts for Orbs, Springs, and Regeneration will reduce the overall flexibility, mobility, and enjoyment of the healing role." I won't repeat all my thoughts here but if anyone is interested: my primary write up on the healing changes.

There are already videos floating around with guilds who have cleared content x on live but cannot on PTS. For example; vCRHM

That's a learning problem for their healers. They'll adapt and eventually clear it just fine. It's folks not wanting to change their routine which is just laziness. People can gear for synergies more effectively through Harmony and slotting more abilities that give synergies. Abilities with synergies that were often ignored in the past are now suddenly valuable and can be worked into a healer's rotation, rather than spamming a few spells ad nauseum.

It's not just about synergies mate, Healers also need to be able to heal a group.

I think the single casts for Orbs, Springs, and Regeneration will reduce the overall flexibility, mobility, and enjoyment of the healing role
My main is a magplar pug healer. She does not slot Combat Prayer for pugs (low dps, poor positional discipline). Mutagen and Healing Springs are an important part of her tool kit - like every other skill she slots. We will wait until the patch goes live and try things before a final decision but based on the proposed changes it looks like Mutagen and Springs will not be worth slotting - which means dump the resto staff for another lightning staff. Then change her role in the group finder to dps and consider herself a magplar dps who has some heals and buffs/debuffs that she may sometimes share with others.

Bottom line is that if the proposed changes go live, healing will no longer offer as much enjoyment as dps. My elf will be sad to leave the healing profession as it really is in her heart and nature, but console herself with the freedom to slot some more offensive skills.

My concern is the possible healing will not be sufficient for the more challenging content. Zos does not have a clue about that content because they’re not skilled enough to clear it.

However, I do think it’s funny how some circled the wagons to protect a flawed logging system, saying how great it was answered how fabulous Zos was providing us with this by now disagree with Zos.

Considering heals are still just AoE your comment lacks a logical foundation. My guess is you have never been a serious healer in any MMORPG.

Edit: Considering your signature contains a dose of salt I want to make sure my comment cannot be misconstrued, requiring a healer to press the button faster does not mean healers have to use brains. Of course the best healers have to use brains already. Brains and skill is what separates those who clear the hardest trials on the hardest settings from the rest.

    Hi there,

Bumping this poll now that this topic has been posted and a real raid test has been done on PTS regarding the upcoming changes.

(Also please let me know if you haven't yet voted in this poll and cannot. I received a report that the poll seems closed but it doesn't look closed to me.)

    Thanks!
