Disparity Between Mag and Stam DPS: Focused on Sets

    Devs must think its "balanced" and "working as intended" as they dont change things and they keep the DPS gap between sets and DPS in general.

    The lead designer playing stamblade has nothing to be with it, period.

    @Seraphayel %s are vague. Like we said earlier, 4-5k at 50k dps is not the same at 100k dps. At 100k dps 10% is 10k dps, which is significant. Multiply that value by 8 and that's a whopping 80k group dps (that's big as all get out in trials). I digress though, cause the actual difference is higher than 10k anyways in actual trial situations.

    My % are vague because everybody can go to ESO Logs and check the differences or watch some PTS dummy parses (that are not really valid as examples to to their static behavior yet favor Stamina, too). I didn’t want to list them again and again and again.

    The DPS ceiling is not 50k anymore, it has doubled. We’re speaking about 100k DPS +-5k for all Stamina specs. Magicka? That’s another story.

    DPS ceiling isn´t doubled. Testers have changed the 6m dummie with 21m trial dummy which averages around 40-50k more DPS.

    And 10% more DPS is 10% in any condition. Some people will say it´s not that much, others won´t say the same. What is true is that apart from more DPS. stamina has better sustain, better defences and better selfhealing. All in one pack. Not even range even, bow specs are really strong with almost same DPS as melee so the magicka is ranged cliché is over aswell.

    10% more DPS is not the same amount of DPS as DPS increases.... I made an R script demonstrating/graphing this with CBP uptimes and its effects as DPS levels change vary - in short, the slope increases as base DPS increases (i.e. the change in DPS as CBP uptime increases by 1%). This is pretty intuitive as 10% more dps at 60k base dps is 6k dps vs. 10% at 30k dps is only 3k more dps (i.e. a 10% dmg multiplier MATTERS MORE when DPS goes up). This is where most people get confused about %s. If group dps is abysmally low it's better to run sets that increase ones dps by a significant amount over adding in multipliers. Again I digress a bit here, but the point there is I generally don't trust people to interpret ratios (%s) correctly lol.

    As far as DPS doubling: Old 6m dummy tests were purely self-buffed whereas new 21m has all the raid buffs at 100%. That allows you to make accurate "parsing" comparisons with crit RNG being one of the few source of error. Most trials do not allow for complete parsing (or when they do, magicka still can't use sets like Zaan due to buggy conditions with dragons for ex.). In short, mag generally performs even worse in trials than they do on a parse (stam will too, but they'll lose less overall dps compared to mag meaning the DPS gap widens). Base dps on a parsing boss (example let's consider The Mage in non-HM where you can just parse) was much higher than 6m dps due to better sustain and group buffs/debuffs. So Damage hasn't exactly doubled, but it has gone up the last two patches due to other changes and the addition of Major Vuln. and other sets.

    I agree mostly about survivability and the ranged aspect @Saril_Durzam. With the exception of vCR, mag survivability and ranged ability is essentially the same as stam at this point. However, I chose to focus exclusively on sets here as those topics are best saved for another post... I've tried to introduce all topics at once before but the comments get pretty far off topic.

    Yeah, that's why stamblade is one of the weakest stam spec in the game :D
