Ignore Limit WAY too low

How are you going to have a game subject to endless gold spammers and limit the ignore list to 100 names? I don't even have space to ignore the racists and homophobes in zone chat. There's no way this should ever be ok.

If you can find 100 "racist and homophobes" in zone then I would question your tolerance/sensitivity more than the length of the ignore list.
What is written above are my honest opinions. If you agree then; "Great!" If you disagree; "Great!" I really couldn't care less either way.

It's about ignoring gold spammers, and then not having space to ignore griefers, you get it now?

I'm at 92 now. Not good.

Tolerating racism, homophobia, misogyny, etc. is not the answer and creates a much more hostile playgroup by allowing it. It only takes one time for people to feel pushed out by it, saying they're too "sensitive" to it denies what they may have had to deal with in life because of it.

    /agree with original poster.

You deserve a Daytime Emmy for all that drama. I never said it was ok, nor did I say it should be tolerated. However, I can honestly say that I have seen zero evidence of such problems in Zone chat, then again most of zone chat scrolls by without me noticing even a quarter of it. So I would say if you are noticing it enough then you are either paying way to much attention to Zone or you are looking for problems, in which case you will see what you want to see.

Also, if someone is being racist and/or homophobic while I am paying attention to Zone then I am going to report them and do my best to get them banned, which is what I would encourage anyone to do.

I pay a lot of attention to zone because I like to try to help people out with problems. I see a ton of pisspoor behaviour from the usual gamer crowd and I really hope ZOS cracks down hard on them.

I'm afraid you're wrong. They're done in alphabetical order with zero context to the block (no notes, no date/time or anything). I unblocked a couple of them (a titanic task itself due to the social lag at the time) and found a still active bot within three unblocks. There is zero reason for an ignore cap. How much space could an ignore list possibly take up? It could be kept client side even. I've probably ignored upwards of five hundred gold spammers on Neverwinter, a F2P game. Why is my ability to play unimpeded by bots better on a F2P game than a subscription one?

Yea, should be at least 250 just as a standard. Wonder if that is the max amount of friends as well?

I have nothing but gold sellers on my ignore list and it's been full for 3 days now. You cannot "remove the top ones" because it's alphabetical and you have no idea who has already been banned or not. For Dominion gold sellers in Auridon chat is absolutely horrible. Then there's the DAILY 4-15 mails + Guild invites from gold sellers. This has got to be fixed, I shouldn't have to install an addon because of a limited ignore list, after installing a chat spam filter I realized that won't even work since all they do is auto ignore based on certain parameters, and since we're capped to 100 ignores we're stuck watching chat, mail, guild invites pile up with gold sellers until they fix it.

attempt to read what's been typed for you to read and not make stupid comment like that. the spammers have filled up my list. i don't have enough space to ignore the racists and the hobophobes, of which there are not many, but they still exists, as i'm sure you're well aware. offer something constructive or don't waste my time.

There is no such thing as a tolerable amount of racism or homophobia. Criticizing others for their perception of such leads to the escalation of inappropriate behavior.

Since we are playing this game, what is a "tolerable" amount of racism? Of homophobia? Sexism?

Don't know why they even put a limit on the ignore list.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I figured out a short term solution, remove all 100 of your ignores and then whomever you see spamming gold sales re-ignore them. It's likely at least SOME of those original 100 are gone now. It's not much more than putting a band-aid on the gash left from getting your leg cut off but it's something. You can do this as often as you need to, but I'd say once every time you cap it again should be a reasonable option.

Well I've cleaned out my ignore list twice now... and the third go is rapidly filling up. With the constant barrage of /zone chat gold sellers, /whisper gold sellers, guild invite gold sellers, in game mail gold sellers, /yell gold sellers, /zone chat "baiters", and my favourite the /say gold sellers at crafting centres it has gotten to the point where it's no longer enjoyable to play. Thinking of taking a break until Zenimax can do something about the Gold Seller plague and the host of issues that go with it (gold guyers, bots, teleporting farmers, invisi farmers, etc.)
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.

This is my 3rd game playing from either beta or Launch and I've NEVER seen gold selling spam this bad. I get 1-15+ or so gold seller guild invites and mail messages every day. The base zone for Dominion is so bad the chat scrolls like a waterfall. I will agree the higher zones are some relief since 99% of the gold spammers are in the starter zones of each faction but it's still annoying when you have to go back to Auridon for a quest or to help a guildee/friend out that's lower level.

    Should be an in-game test.

Someone uttered the words "a redguard stole my horse". What do you think?
    a) It's hilarious. (receives an ignore list with 10 slots)
    b) Meh, I don't care. (receives an ignore list with 20 slots)
    c) It's immature. (receives an ignore list with 50 slots)
    d) It's offensive (receives an ignore list with 1000 slots)

Wowee. Not even past page 1 and not one, but two people point out that there is no such thing as a 'tolerable' level of bigotry.

That...that is amazing and I'm very grateful to the two of you.

Whenever one's immediate thought to another person pointing out bigotry is that they're being too sensitive, stop and wonder whether you're failing to be sensitive enough.
Suffering and cruelty are never created by an excess of sensitivity to others. It's not a bad thing, or a thing that ought to be criticized.

Clearly, a block list of 100 is entirely way too small. I'm unsure why the list isn't simply made limitless (or a ridiculously high number) to avoid there ever being any problems.

I am also very surprised other people have said there should be zero tolerance for racism/sexism/whatever. MMOs are about the last place where such talk is not only tolerated but condoned. Nowhere else is this really considered ok (to the extent it is in MMOs anyway).

And yes, the ignore list needs to be much larger. How do those gold spammers have so many accounts.........

Because they sell gold for real money, and buy new accounts. Vile creatures, really, especially when fed after midnight.
