Post-Patch Porting Problems — PS4 NA

I’m having issues on PS4 NA today after the patch; namely, when initially logging in on certain characters via the log in screen and also when porting from Cyrodiil to Elsweyr via wayshrine. The loading screen hangs for several minutes without giving the “unusually long loading time” message, and ends with a full screen freeze. The only thing that resolves the screen freeze is shutting down ESO completely and restarting it. It has happened to me four times so far since the patch.

Anyone else having this issue?

It does that for me everyday even before patch, 1 out of 4 times when porting to rimmen Elsweyr I get that.
Nowhere else I get frozen load screen that I had to restart game, so not my internet or anything from my end.

Yeah op has a pretty good title. Concise, catchy and summarizes their problem well.

Just wondering...do we really need the message “unusually long loading time?” At this point, it is always a long load screen so why rub it in!

I was hoping someone would notice. <3

Anyway, still having this issue. Just had to shut down the ESO application again after trying to login on a character stationed in Northern Elsweyr. Login loading screen froze.

And now I just blue-screened after porting into Wayrest. None of the other games I play regularly are acting up. Something is definitely borked with wayshrines and logins after the patch. :/

If you're talking about the load screen "spinning wheel" that suddenly stops spinning, and never starts again, this has been a thing since Murkmire. Most noticable in Cyrodiil. If that wheel stops turning for more than 30 seconds, I've learned to force-close the app so I can get back before I'm kicked out and forced to re-queue.

Yes, that’s what I’m experiencing; it only started happening for me with this patch, though.

That's interesting. I haven't done a "game settings" reset in a long time. I wonder if that may help - maybe we're both experiencing a little corruption that took a different amount of time to build up. I'll try it this evening. Worth a shot

You were fortunate. I see it on a far too regular basis, even porting to other locations.

I’ve seen your thread, and what you’re describing (framerate drops around wayshrines) is not what I’m talking about. That issue started many months ago, back when we were having screen freezes in Cyrodiil. The issue I’m talking about has nothing to do with FPS; the game freezes up completely (no juddering) during loading screens when logging in or when porting to another location, forcing a restart.

@dotme , I’ll delete my game settings save as well and see if it fixes things.

I also have this same exact problem on PS4 EU and with porting to Grahtwood, Elsweyr, Cyrodiil and Summerset.

Deleting my game save didn’t fix anything. Now I have unusually long loading screens in Cyrodiil as well. FFS...

I deleted my save data and now I can't even bar swap in pvp or use skills. The maintenance definitely broke something vital :(

Yep. Me too. It's really great. Especially since the console version just get's so much love and attention already.
All I want to know is two things: If I had a better, newer version of the Playstation would my ESO console experience see any improvement? Also, if I had the best internet in the world could I actually enjoy large battles in Cyr?
Thanks, I'll be waiting for some info :)

I'm going to hazard a guess that the answer is "no", especially since a dude was on here the other day posting really good PC specs and Internet connection and still finding Cyro almost unplayable for him.

    It isn't your hardware. It's ESO's code.

PS4Pro user here. Game is definitely prettier (Run 1080 Enhanced for water reflections, better shading/shadows etc) but I don't escape the long load times, blue-screens and lag. It's all still there.

Would be nice. I just rage quit from Cyro. Couldn’t use transit shrines or keep recall stones without sitting in loading screens for 3+ minutes at a time. Deleting game save didn’t work, nor did rebooting the game or my entire freaking PS4.

I guess I just got lucky then. I got FPS drops with Elsweyr, but I could log in without issues and didn’t have long load screens in Cyrodiil. These porting-related issues only started for me with yesterday’s patch.

PS4 Pro won't help. I have one and have been experiencing the freezes for quite a while. Happens most often to me when going out the back door of the Thieves Den. Probably 1 in 8 times I get a freeze and have to hard reset there. Also, if I log a character out next to the equipment writ board in Stormhold, it'll sometimes take me 3 or 4 tries to even log in on that character again. Both issues been around for a while, both increased (for me) around Murkmire release.
