How long will TESO live?

Just asking myself how long is the lifespan of TESO from now.

I hope it will be long.

I'm a returning player after 1700 hours a break of one year.

Some people think it'll end at the end of the year. Others think next year. Nobody knows for sure.

How long ? My prediction is till TES 6 is released. Those will be hardest times for ESO probably, as it will lose a lot of players.

They had a 10-year plan if I remember correctly (would have to do some research to find where someone posted the link to it), and we are past the half-way point. So awhile longer, and at the rate they are raking in cash in the Crown Store it's obvious people are still very engaged into the game (regardless of us minority folk on the forums that feel like the end is coming).

I’ve been hearing “dead by the end of the year” since beta. I imagine it will live as long as it is profitable.

It will be around here for a while, but will die slowly. Other projects migh appear and investment in this game will drop. It's inevitable.

Only one MMORPG will stand through time and it's not ESO.

its not going any where soon , they have found a way to milk a churn population. unfortunately as a MMO this game is poor. as a online RPG its fair. the Chapters they sell are no where near worth 50 dollars and the DLCs are just meta changes that are easily produced . personaly their design philosphies leave a lot to be desired

Understand when TES6 will released it popularity will drop.

    Still hope not.

I think it depends on the next patch.

If they mess things up - again, ppl will stop paying for the game. I stopped buying crowns 19 months ago and if the patch goes live without major changes, Elsweyr was the last chapter I paid for.

I think many ppl handle it the same way. Then it will be time for hard decisions, where shutdown will be one option.

So what is actually broken in this game?

For example if i read the Battlefield forums: Everyone is so negative about the game they played.

Can a game be for 100% good?

It'll doubtless last as long as people continue to play it in profitable numbers. Other MMOs are still going after 20 years or more.

Ignore the doomsayers. They've been predicting the closure of the game ever since it launched. It was initially going to be destroyed by Wildstar and ArcheAge, and we know what happened to them...

Given that ESO is still growing in both population and content I imagine it will be around for a long time yet.

    Yeay can agree with that.

Sure it will stay a while. It will just lose people once there'll be a new one out, and that's a sore point to look forward to. Right now I love the big population.

Given the steady and rapid deterioration of performance, I do no believe this game will be playable in any meaningful form by the end of the year. By 'meaningful form', I mean content beyond crafting and overland questing.

Of course, this assumes no major correction or upgrade for performance on ZOS's part, but as of this writing, there is no reason to believe any such correction will be forthcoming.

I sincerely hope my prediction is wrong. I like this game and I want to see it live up to its considerable potential, but I am not optimistic. If this game does die, it won't be for lack of players.
ZeniMax has no obligation to correct any errors or defects in the Services.

Greetings! We've closed this thread due to its non-constructive nature.

As long as people play and pay. ESO can only survive by making money.

    • balancing things basically means nerfing
    • RNGesus everywhere
    • PTS trade changes

Since there are literally no MMOs on the horizon that can threaten ESO, I say it's pretty safe for at least couple years.

Speaking from personal experience, every game forum I've ever visited (from other MMOs like FFXIV to single player games like the Dark Souls series) has negativity on it. It's unavoidable.

A lot of it is justified, but ultimately it's up to the individual player to determine just how much is and draw their own conclusion.

    ESO is no exception.

TESO is aged before it's time and is showing the early signs of performance issues that not even depends can help.

Until Zos actually decides to fix the game's performance and make that the most important thing, it will continue on minimal life support. But with how they are doing things and the brief mention of new hardware that seemingly did nothing, I would say until the money is not worth keeping it alive.
