Just asking myself how long is the lifespan of TESO from now.

I hope it will be long.

I'm a returning player after 1700 hours a break of one year.

When I joined years ago, I was told it's already dead. Almost 8000 hours of gameplay later, I'm still waiting for the server to be up so I can level some skills.

It will go the same way as LotRO or SWtOR I guess. I'll be here until It the power gets turned off.

I've spent about £8000-10000 on ESO - and very possibly more.

I'll make sure I get my money's worth!!!.

Probably at least 5 years, maybe 10. Hell, it may be even more, but by then I would expect playerbase to decline and the game slowly dying out over a long time.

This is probably the most accurate. I've been in other MMORPGs (that were not nearly as good as ESO in my opinion) and some of them lasted 15 - 20+ years.

ESO will be around a long time. The population will eventually drop and new content will become limited, if non-existent. But ZoS owns the servers and all the rights game, so why not let it last for as long as possible for the sake of making money on work they already did (crown stores, DLC, etc...).

That sounds very likely, now that I think of it your 15-20+ years is probably truer.

Just needs to add new rpg systems! No more here's a new class to redo everything with. Here's a new dungeon layout to farm for bind on drop gear. Here's a new public dungeon layout, delve layout and type of dolmen to farm for motifs. :s

Look how fast they monetize the game. Those are preparations for F2P and the stuff which comes with it.

A lot depends on ZoS. It will lose people the worse performance gets and as newer MMO's or games in general come out. I'd say a few more years

I started playing Ultima Online in 1999 (Ya, I'm Old) and that game is still going today. UO was a great game for its time, but it doesn't come close to ESO. I have said in the past ESO is what UO could have been! SO, ESO will probably keep going for quite some time. JMHO

oh boy there are mmorpgs out there that failed horribly and are literally empty you have to try real hard to find another player there

and these games keep on running and running and never get shut down

eso is a safe bet to say that it will stay up for longer than you will play this game

just thinking about the people i know who drop hundreds of € just for virtual houses while also being scrubscribed and buying like 40 crown crates every week, costumes hair cuts character makeover services dude

so many roleplayers and rpg type players in this game i just dont see how it could be shut down anytime soon

The base game is only $6 when it's on sale, which seems like more than half the year. I doubt making it free will bring many more people in (long term).

I figure 5+ years... if they can solve their nagging performance problems. The combat changes they are working on seem solid, and new content is still rolling out. Performance is really the Achilles Heel at the moment.

I’ve been hearing “dead by the end of the year” since beta. I imagine it will live as long as it is profitable.

Well said. I think it’s healthy for now, despite the uptick in whine posts.

I hope it lasts a long time. I hope the whales keep buying....supports the game. :)

Simple. When the game stops providing growth and begins a decline in its worth. Justifications will be made then. Possibly the perfect time to release ES6.

With that being said. Many gaming companies with big upcoming releases that have been rumored for years will hold off as long as possible so they do not cannibalize their current popular brand.

Man I think we’ll see all of the following before the end.

    1. Entire continent.
    2. Revamps of base game provinces
    3. Quest packs for existing provinces that also add in a few missing areas example is the north of vardenfell and the volcanic centre.
    4. Giant lost cities of the dwemer, aeylids, and other lost cultures.
    5. Pyandonia
    6. Various deadric realms
    7. Yukuda
    8. Aldmeris
    9. Atmora
    10. Akavir

I hope I live long enough to see it all lol.
