I'm a returning player after 1700 hours a break of one year.
I think @Tommy_The_Gun has a strong point about TES6. I think if ESO weather's that Exodus, there's no reason it can't be like EQ or WoW and go on more or less indefinitely. ESO doesnt do everything particularly well but for the things ESO does well it's about the best MMO out there. No reason a community won't stick with it over the long haul.

I don't know about best case, but in worst case most people will leave once ES6 comes out.
Pretty much this. Few MMO dies fast, only exception is then they don't own the licence to the IP / universe like SWG or then they fail miserable. Some companies like the big Korean one for MMO is also very fast to kill them if they don't have enough players to bother.
