Don’t use War Maiden, it has no effect on Wall, Vamp Bane/Reflective, Meteor, Destro Ult, and Light/Heavy attacks. Not worth it for the 100 extra Spell Damage to some skills, only to lose 300 Spell Damage on others (compared to Julianos).

Edit: WM also does nothing for your healing.

You don't lose 300 Spell Damage on other abilities though. You lose 4% Spell Crit across the board, and 170 Spell Damage on non-Magic Damage spells to gain 101 Spell damage on Magick Damage abilities.

It's also worth noting that heals that are based off of damage done, like Puncturing Sweeps and Swallow Soul are buffed by War Maiden, because they are magic damage, and heal a % of damage done.

For capable of Weaving Light Attacks, and who don't solely focus on Magick Damage, War Maiden isn't worth it. For specialist builds made by people incapable or unwilling to weave, War Maiden is a pretty nice set.

I was just referring to the 5pc bonus for that comparison. If we look at all the set bonuses together Julianos pulls further ahead of War Maiden because 833 Spell Crit is usually better than 129 Spell Damage for a Templar (mostly due to their extra 10% Crit Damage and the extremely powerful Shadow Mundus Stone).

It would have to be an extremely specialized build to have more than 75% of damage coming from the Magic damage type, and almost none from Fire (or Lightning). I’m sure such builds exist, but I wouldn’t advise anyone to play one since it would be missing out on a lot of damage (and healing).

Juli is also easier to obtain, and you can pick any traits and weight you want (allowing use of a Heavy chest piece, where most sets have to settle for a Heavy helm or pauldron when equipping 5-1-1 armor).
