As far as myself, I jump into PVP every now and then, and casually I doubt I'll see too much of a difference. The tank meta is more of a problem than anything there as far as my personal play experience is concerned, and the patch isn't doing much to address that.
I've been watching this whole tanky PvP phenomenon grow too, and I used to sneer at the tanks and think "what a bunch of weak scrubs", but I've started to figure out WHY it's happening, or at least I think I might have. DMG in Cyrodil is freaking insane. DMG in the entire game is out of control. Zos just keeps pumping out sets capable of stacking more and more dmg, both buildable and in proc form, and it's too much. Playing tanky sucks. It's stupidly, mind numbingly boring and you're slow and can (unless you're stam) do almost no significant dmg. But it becomes necessary when one player can take down 20 in the span of 5 seconds with a shield bash. It becomes necessary when one player can one shot a veteran player with a decent build. It becomes necessary when someone can proc up to 10k dmg on their character sheet. The heavy armor meta isn't the cause of our problems in PvP...it's the effect of another problem, and it's one that keeps getting worse and worse as Zos keeps finding new ways to lure people into the game with flashier and more dmg intensive sets and classes with each new expansion.
Ease up on the dmg growth (and revert some of it) and the tank meta will subside naturally. Very few people actually want to play like that (let's face it...it's a pretty trash playstyle), but many are forced to if they don't want to be smashed by a cheese chasing try-hard every 30 seconds. I think reducing the amount of dmg a single player can do will also work wonders for breaking people back up into smaller groups in Cyrodil, rather than herding them into safer mega-packs.

If this change goes through, my friends and I are leaving because there's no point in playing a game that makes the questing experience miserable. It's bad enough that traversing the map takes a long time, especially when you can't mount in delves or any other non-mountable location. This is the one change that never should have been made. I understand the changes aimed at stopping orb spammers and lowering trial dps, but Rapids wasn't hurting anyone - Rapids was ruined for no reason.
That is exactly the thing. Not that I pvp whole lot, but performance, in general, has really degraded in recent months. It was never great to start with. You add sweeping changes to an already poor performing game, and you have people asking “Is this really worth it any more?”Many people leaving or thinking about leaving already, not because of the patch, but because of the *** state of Cyrodiil.
Some people are in total meltdown and saying the famous words “I’m going to leave the game if this goes live” They won’t.
Some are like me and over the initial shake and will wait to see what the final version is. I won’t leave the game but I may do other things. Fishing is always nice
