I'm not fussed either way. It doesn't really change anything for me
I don't care enough, I just roll with the changes as best I can.

I do wish they would let us know the end game goal though, so we can see what the standard they're trying for looks like.

A little rage at first, but there's a lot of good in there. There's also a lot of dramatic change that's tough to read on the first pass without rage. It's a lot, but it tells me they've been hard at work...and I like that.

Or, maybe they've been using RNG for some decisions?

I hope the OP repeats this poll every week that the update is on the PTS, just to see how opinion remains/changes as more players get further into the test.

Remember, for example, that EU characters have not yet been transferred onto the PTS so most regular EU testers won't have had a meaningful look at the changes.

Also, hands-on experience of a patch is far more important than a guildmate's interpretation of the rumoured patch notes.

Plus, of course, a final poll when the eventual final release has been live for at least a couple of weeks.

I have healers of all classes. Now I might as well retire all of them except my templar. This is not fun. I’ve been playing a bit less lately, so if this PTS patch goes live (as they usually do), I am seriously thinking of dropping my subscriptions (yeah, stupid me, I have two).

I'll do one for the PTS in a couple weeks after it's steeped for a while, then a couple of weeks after launch. That should give a better representation. This is just tapping on the glass right now to see initial impressions.

I have tried the changes on my stamcro, and it's awful. I was just starting to get a feel for my rotation to get my dps in a respectable spot, now no matter what I do my damage will be in the toilet even revamping my build. It will not be possible to get anywhere close to the damage I now have on live.

Totally. So tired of how much content for PVP is released each year /s

To the OP, as others have said. I'd be more supportive if we knew what the combat "vision" actually was. At this point, we've had some drastic racial rebalances and now ability and combat changes that only sort of make sense. I can only hope that when they're done evaluating CP, they'll be a ton more open with info than they have been.

If/when they aren't more forthcoming, the changes to CP better make these combat design puzzle pieces fit together.

With at least one max level character in both stam and mag for every class except magcro, I'm not a champion for any particular class or resource pool. What I see here, though, is an across-the-board, "Let's make this game harder." approach.

I'm reminded of the "Heart of Thorns" expansion when it first dropped for Guild Wars 2. They made the new area so difficult that most players had to group together just to get across the map. It wasn't fun to be weaker. People stopped playing. A year later, they made the area easier, but it was too late. While Update 23, Gamebreaker, won't have that drastic an effect on the open world, it will significantly handicap players attempting mid to end game content. Perhaps the devs intend to put in new gear so that those who keep buying the DLCs will be able to keep up with the nerfs. Who knows.

In the end, there's this hope that if enough people protest on the forums, we won't have to wait a year or more for them to revert the changes. But, we all know they will continue on killin' it in their headstrong fashion. Back in the day, I'd thought I'd go back to GW2 when they cleaned up the heart of thorns mess. But, I never did; guess I got caught up in playing other games. Today, I think, "Maybe I'll check back on this in a few months and see if they fixed performance issues instead of just nerfing players." Time will tell.

That didn't work out well for Bosmer players who were completely screwed over for no apparent reason. Most of the threads on the subject were censored just in time for this mess to land in our laps. ZOS knows full well that their choices regarding balance are unpopular and it's anyone's guess as to why they pretend to listen to feedback and push through poorly thought out patches and the bugs they cause. There is a kernel of though being discussed here that some of the nonsensical 'adjustments' are designed specifically to get players to leave on purpose and I'm beginning to believe them.

    1. they have data we don't
    2. change is good because a stale game is easy to not play
    3. the sets and skills have been boosted in a positive way that i play!
      [*
They may have the data, but in order for any data to be useful, you have to know the context, to do "The math".
Zenimax may have the data, but in order for the math to work, you also need to know how to make an equation.

As always, ZOS combat team makes such an equation, but if your context is wrong, you will not take all variables into account, and as a result you get a fault result....

...Which pretty much means that as long as you are ignoring certain variables (thing that ZOS is doing constantly) "the math" is pointless...

Actually it would be "I am supportive of the combat team's vision, and feel the game is moving in a good direction" but I do not believe in supernatural phenomena and miracles. Would be nice If they really are following a plan to rescue the game and actually manage to pull it of but I'll believe it when it has been done.

If they are just desperately flailing around, that is business as usual in MMO genre. Nothing to get annoyed of.

Standardization is a good thing, on the whole, from a development standpoint. It needed to happen, and the implementation has been good overall. As for how this standardization will help resolve issues that diverse groups of players see in the game? That becomes a lot more complicated, because the issues players identify depend on their gameplay goals and playing style.

There are two primary concerns I have about this game right now - aside from the continued slide into predatory monetization which by far overshadows everything else.

One, I've noticed a troubling increase of changes made principally for the PvP environment to the detriment of the PvE environment. This always happened to some extent, but it has gotten worse. Will some of these abilities and effects that are only really relevant in PvP have some meaningful application to PvE in future updates? I sure hope so, but right now, it's kind of a bummer. Maybe if the PvP in this game wasn't garbage I would actually play it and not mind. But it IS garbage and I don't see that ever changing, thus it's more than a little frustrating to see PvE aspects getting constantly gutted for a half-baked game mode.

Two, none of the changes coming down the line address what to me is one of the biggest issues with mechanics right now and that's the ridiculous disparities between damage dealers in this game. It creates problems in a wide variety of content types, from overland difficulty to the troubling difficultly of so-called "normal" DLC dungeons. The way to put an immediate fix on this is hard caps. But they're not doing that. Instead they are doing things like toning down AoEs that will hit regular players as much as it does the tryhards. I'm just not sure what their goal is here. Do they want accessible gameplay experiences or not? And for whom?

On the plus side, the stuff I care about - story content, art design - remain solid. For the most part, I don't fuss about combat mechanics changes. It's not what I care about so long as changes don't destroy my characters and revisions have to be really dramatic for that to happen.

I answered that they are trying but could do a lot better. Reason being, when we are trying to make things more flat line as far as numbers go but we still see a "will heal for 7-10%", why not just make it a flat percentage like 8% or 10%, why have the server have to make that decision over and over based on RNG. That just seems like more unneeded taxing of the server for processes and we all know we do not need more of that.

    Example:

    Purge:
This ability and its morphs no longer reduce the duration of incoming negative effects.
Increased the amount of negative effects instantly removed per cast to 3 from 2.
This ability now ranks up in cost reduction, leading to a base cost of 7830 at Rank IV.
Efficient Purge (morph): This ability will now cost 5400 at Rank IV, rather than 5130.
Cleanse (morph): This morph no longer heals for 15% of the target’s Max Health if a negative effect was removed from them, but instead heals for 7-10% of their Max Health per negative effect removed.

So now it can be anywhere from 21-30% based on negative effect instead of say 21,24 or 30%, and is each tick going to be different, so maybe 1st effect is 7, 2nd is 9 and 3rd is 10 and now we are at 26% and then every time after it changes? It just seems like a lot of extra computations for no good reason.

    Edit: Spelling error

I may be wrong, but 7-10 percent is just for when the skill is leveling up. at max level it is just 10 percent. ill check the tooltip when I get home on the PTS

Not a judgement call mind you, they do need to adapt and change the game for a multitude of reasons. I just wish that these things did just completely counter previous directions. Could they make up their mind on wether or not they want a high skill ceiling would be a great start.

Having to theorycraft your builds whenever they make changes keeps the game feeling new, until it gets old. But I might could be more supportive if they communicated what the goal is. Hard to trust in the plan when you don't know what the plan is, and it seems the development team doesn't either. Communication would help out here a lot. As usual though it's silence and "oh look! Not fussed.

After all the changes I'll go through my characters and see which feels "right" for me and roll with that though I'll never park my stamblade which I'll always have in the mix.

May have to farm a couple of sets and maybe focus on getting more SP on a newly favoured alt.

If I'm that frustrated by the end of it? then I'll just take a break, cool off and come back refreshed, well hopefully........

Absolutely no reason to be stressed.
