[POLL] How do you feel so far regarding the upcoming changes

There has been a lot of forum discussion, rightfully so, recently around the proposed game changes. Given the history of the PTS and previous changes, the community can expect them to move forward mostly in their entirety. READ: what you see is what you get.

Two sides seem to have appeared:

1) That there is an unshared Greater Vision, and these changes (while drastic) will make sense once their full plan rolls out

2) That this is yet another example of heavy handed change, for the sake of change, which in many cases doesn't seem to make a lot of sense

Whichever side you fall on, or if you are somewhere in the middle, there still seems to be some shock to what we have seen. Do you agree with how these changes will affect you, or your guild? Do you feel you can trust the direction the developers are taking the game? Or maybe you are just tired of yet another rollout of head-shaking nerfs.

I'm curious to see where people are at this point, given there has been a few days to chew it over.

I think people should just try the changes before raging on the forums saying they don't want change, go on the pts and if you don't like it then share your thoughts. I have been on the PTS and I like a lot of the changes, but I have not tried everything so I probably should have picked other until then, but SO FAR I like a lot of them or its something I'm indifferent towards but I dont think its BAD. Change is good, people just think they know best and that everything should be their way so they will never be happy. There are some quality of life changes that I really like (multi-crafting, undaunted keys, etc). Some of the combat changes to the mag classes make me wary (dunno about stam classes since I don't play those often), but a lot of other things are just baffling. Who in their right mind went "Yeah, having one orb up at a time during a dungeon/trial--let alone a vet dungeon/trial--is a *great* idea!!!"?

Seems they cater to the pvp'ers in the game. Sometimes they need to just leave well enough alone. Focus on fixing the bugs that STILL exist , maybe take steps to address lag in game , add content without nerfing constantly. Most players have multiple characters and having to respend points and relearning mechanpgets really old for those of us that actually have lives.

The nerfs hurt, but I'll gladly trade some nerfs for more viable lines.

I like some of the changes, but I'm definitely not loving having the Warden get ANOTHER 30% nerf to one of their abilities. I mean, c'mon guys. They aren't over-performing..anywhere..and need love, not more disabling.

Also, what they are doing to healers in general really disturbs me.

I can see why they did it, to help balance PvP, but it leaves endgame healers in a rocky spot. It’s hard enough healing vDLC HM dungeons, since of its not a one-shot, it’s a two-shot, or requires constant healing through. Cutting the numbers and raising the cost of big heals will make things worse.

Not sure I chose the right option. I'm not fussed, but it does definitely change things. Fortunately, for me endgame is character development, and adapting to changes in the game is just more character development.

These changes show a complete disconnect between ZOS and what is happening in the actual game.

You would think that DPS wardens and non-templar healers were overperforming based on these nerfs. But they weren't. They were underperforming, yet they got nerfed, for a reason nobody understands.

I don't know what the hell they are doing and it's making me nervous that they aren't telling us where they're going with this. I already have trouble with some content if I don't spend 100% of my time chasing the meta, and that's zero fun for me. Now it looks like they're undoing everything I already had managed to do to catch up and I will end up losing what efficacy I had built up. I'm very uneasy.

I like what I see - though I haven't tried them out for myself yet. So my opinions could change. But the changes to unstoppable look interesting and are a step in the right direction. I also like what they've done with regeneration: on paper anyway.

I feel they are trying, but could be doing a lot better
I answered that they are trying but could do a lot better. Reason being, when we are trying to make things more flat line as far as numbers go but we still see a "will heal for 7-10%", why not just make it a flat percentage like 8% or 10%, why have the server have to make that decision over and over based on RNG. That just seems like more unneeded taxing of the server for processes and we all know we do not need more of that.

    Example:

    Purge:
This ability and its morphs no longer reduce the duration of incoming negative effects.
Increased the amount of negative effects instantly removed per cast to 3 from 2.
This ability now ranks up in cost reduction, leading to a base cost of 7830 at Rank IV.
Efficient Purge (morph): This ability will now cost 5400 at Rank IV, rather than 5130.
Cleanse (morph): This morph no longer heals for 15% of the target’s Max Health if a negative effect was removed from them, but instead heals for 7-10% of their Max Health per negative effect removed.

So now it can be anywhere from 21-30% based on negative effect instead of say 21,24 or 30%, and is each tick going to be different, so maybe 1st effect is 7, 2nd is 9 and 3rd is 10 and now we are at 26% and then every time after it changes? It just seems like a lot of extra computations for no good reason.

While it helps me in some ways and hurts in others I personally like change because it gives me an opportunity to try new ideas and builds. I think in some ways the game feels more balanced but they need to not overdo it and lose class identity.

I do think after this patch they really need to focus on bugs and less on changing things up. Mainly saying this because you can change things skills, gear, etc and some people will love it and some people will hate it. Fix bugs and everyone will be somewhat happier

I feel they have completely gone in the wrong direction, yet again
With at least one max level character in both stam and mag for every class except magcro, I'm not a champion for any particular class or resource pool. What I see here, though, is an across-the-board, "Let's make this game harder." approach.

I'm reminded of the "Heart of Thorns" expansion when it first dropped for Guild Wars 2. They made the new area so difficult that most players had to group together just to get across the map. It wasn't fun to be weaker. People stopped playing. A year later, they made the area easier, but it was too late. While Update 23, Gamebreaker, won't have that drastic an effect on the open world, it will significantly handicap players attempting mid to end game content. Perhaps the devs intend to put in new gear so that those who keep buying the DLCs will be able to keep up with the nerfs. Who knows.

In the end, there's this hope that if enough people protest on the forums, we won't have to wait a year or more for them to revert the changes. But, we all know they will continue on killin' it in their headstrong fashion. Back in the day, I'd thought I'd go back to GW2 when they cleaned up the heart of thorns mess. But, I never did; guess I got caught up in playing other games. Today, I think, "Maybe I'll check back on this in a few months and see if they fixed performance issues instead of just nerfing players." Time will tell.

They need to play off-meta class of any role before doing these change.
Silver lash morph change is a big hit to no-DK Tank.
Healing change is a big it to meta healer aka Warden and Templar and a true kill for no-meta one (DK-NB-Sorc).
Same for the disparity between Stam and Magicka DPS.

I'm for the change and game evolution, but atm they forget more than half of class/role.
Hope they open their eyes and give you some tool to come back in the game.

I feel they are trying, but could be doing a lot better
Speaking from mostly a PVP standpoint:

Damage will be up but self heals will also be up. I think that will balance out. (Altho something will be painfully broken; there always is.) The return of proxy + VD being strong will break up pug zergs, but will make ball groups even stronger, especially when combined with the return of rapids spam. Because we needed more tank ball zergs running laps around walls, right?

Overall, I think the changes are positive and require people to think harder about their builds and what they want to accomplish, while also having to squeeze in more room for self-sufficiency. It's a good tension.

On the other hand, the 180 on buffs/nerfs from very recent patches is perplexing and doesn't make them look like they have a vision but rather a dartboard. Furthermore, the best balance, amazing combat and gameplay in the world doesn't make a difference if you can't bar swap, your skills won't cast when you need them, your health desyncs, and you are stuck not being able to play all your characters.
