Excuse the textwall but this was as concise as I could be while including all the context.
Some of the changes of PTS have had me looking at where Unstable Clannfear fits into the game. I think everyone can agree it has no place in PVE. In respect of PVP, it is not quite a magicka skill and not quite a stamina skill, limiting its overall effectiveness. It costs magicka, it deals physical damage, and the heal scales off health.
The change to resource agnostic sources of healing dictates that the heal will now crit off the higher crit chance instead of just mag. This is great, but if the weapon crit chance is higher, it will still Be buffed by Elfborn and not precise strikes because it costs Mag. So in this case among others the new change to crit chance of resource agnostic abilities feels incomplete.
I’m not sure if it would be feasible to have the elfborn or precise strikes passive respect which type of crit chance the heal uses, so to make the morph more appealing, I propose it be adjusted to either full stam by changing the cost of the Summon and Special Ability to stamina, or full magicka ability by changing the physical damage to magicka.
Changing the cost of this ability to Stamina would be a great opportunity to give the Stamina Sorcs the identity and flavor that the community has been pleading for for several patches. The ability would be kinder to a StamSorcs resource pools, the crit heal would now be scaling off precise strikes, and the physical damage can now be amped by a character with Physical Penetration. Stamina characters can currently only make use of one non-ultimate Daedric Summoning skill if you don’t count the clannfear. He is a melee boi and he belongs beside a melee boi master, not a caster.
Another solution would be to change the physical damage to magicka. As
@ZOS_Gilliam knows, it is inefficient to try to spec as a hybrid to get this skill to work. But please, the stamina sorc could desperately use this skill in their toolkit. And it would be new, exciting, and fun.
