Yes, he is snarky, but that is common in highly intelligent people who have to deal with their lessers. Trying to make up for past sins, but things don’t always go to plan....but at least willing to learn.

✭✭✭✭✭Rigurt the BrashIn theory Abnur has a superior amount political experience, combat prowess (battlemage!), education and intelligence.
In practice he screws up at least as much as Rigurt does in spite of the above, with the added bonus that the messes Abnur makes (Soulburst, needing to be rescued from Mannimarco, Dragon invasion...) are enormous compared to anything Rigurt does.
Add to that Rigurt means well, he's friendly and enthusiatic. Abnur just means well for the Empire, is stuck on himself and prone to the aforementioned enormous screw-ups...the choice is obvious.#proud2BAStarObsessedLoony

Tai-Chi✭✭✭✭Rigurt the BrashTwo out of my all favourite characters. The choice was a hard one to make. The script writers and voice actors deserve medals. Having said that, Rigurt's script was not as powerful in Elsweyr as it was in Summerset but then again, Summerset is such a hard act to follow.
All my characters get on famously with both NPCs. Abnur is ,in fact, secretly madly in love with Lady Ygrain. He cannot imagine being without her in his life. She on the other-hand looks upon him more as a fatherly figure. He puts on a pretence that certain tasks are beyond her abilities but the reality is, that he wants to keep her out of real harms way.
Rigurt deserves to win because he is sincere, pure of heart, means well and only wishes to make people happy and to get along with each other, without fighting.
One of my chars bumped into Rigurt (a few of days ago) after the festival in Windhelm. He was standing near the main gate, ready to greet new arrivals. He was sober but looked downhearted.
Ninghal went to speak to Rigurt. He shook his head and gave a deep sigh. He looked extremely embarrassed.
Rigurt said to Ninghal; "Did you know, it's pronounced Con-un-leekar, not Corn-loon-licker. I feel so silly now!" Poor chap - bless his cotton socks - he takes everything to heart.
One of my favourites is going into the final so all is good.
